Private You're Lookin For The Other Guy

"Because while you don't need to be evil to use the Dark, it rots you. Your mind. Your soul. It's not immediate, but everyone who uses It's power will loose themselves and become the thing they wanted to defeat." He paused at her compliment, taking the chance to jump completely to the new subject. Raya Krayt got quite the grin from Kahlil as he lifted up the armor.

"Think I could make a living doing this kind of thing?"

"Oh..." She replied, not having much more profound thoughts than that at the moment. It was a lot of information for someone so unfamiliar with the subject to process. It confirmed why her clan were so hesitant of accepting Force users if the Force gave someone the ability to change so drastically without them intending to - How could they be trusted? It was something else to think about when addressing the clan next.

"Hmm... Let's not get ahead of ourselves."
She chuckled but inspected it and gave a nod of approval. Raya pulled the sheets back and got out of bed before slipping her trousers on over her shorts, clearly not fussed about doing so in front of him. "Maybe you have better luck as a cook."

"Speaking of not ggetting ahead of ourselves.." Kahlil was pretty quick to look away from Raya Krayt as she got up from the bed and he realized just how little clothing she had on. He cleared his throat before standing up to step out of the room, though not before flashing a grin and a quick glance her way.

"There's little I pride myself on, but my cooking? You'll have to be careful or you'll never settle for less."

"Oh, er... sorry." Raya apologised as she quickly slipped on her base layer shirt. She had heard about the Jedi demeanour from stories told by others but no one mentioned they were conservative or maybe that was just Kahlil. Or maybe he was being polite, she considered, though it hadn't bothered her otherwise she would've waited until he left.

"We'll see about that." She challenged him and once he left the room she glanced at her armour and considered putting it on but decided against getting unnecessarily dressed up for breakfast so made her way to the kitchen without it. "Smells good." She commented. While she wanted to get a closer look at what he was doing, she didn't want to invade his personal space so took a seat at the table.

"Nothing to be sorry about. I certainly don't mind." He didn't, but he didn't want to abuse her trust. Raya Krayt was the type of person he wanted to respect. Kahlil pretty quickly got to cooking once he was in the kitchen. Eggs, seasonsed wonderfully. With some cheese. Smelled pretty great. He glanced to the woman curiously, then grinned.

"Come here. Wanna learn how to make these?"

Raya sat with her elbow on the table and her head being propped up by her hand as she watched Kahlil cook. As she watched, she considered how fundamentally different the pair were. He was from a group of peace-loving zealots and she was from a culture of warriors and violence and yet here they coexisted in harmony. Though with the bounty upcoming, perhaps their differences would become more apparent.

Her gaze was off looking at nothing in particular when he addressed her as she was lost in thought but she was soon brought back to reality when spoken to. "Sure. I warn you, I'm not very good at cooking. I can just about cook tiingilar - it's a stew." She explained before rising to her feet and joining him at the stove. A glance at the food cooking only made her more hungry. "What's in this?" She asked, pointing at the eggs which clearly had something added.

"Eggs, cream, cheese, some spices. Little bit of herbs." Kahlil casually listed off the ingredients he was using, glancing to Raya Krayt now and then as he finished up what he was making. Then all there was was setting up the plates for them both. "it'll be a bit before we can get to the hunt. Why don't we go over the details?"

"Do the Jedi teach you this?" She chuckled, half-joking, as she watched the meal prep. When he mentioned going over the details, she turned around, folded her arms and leaned against the counter casually. "Well... It's a drug dealer, smuggler, whatever. I'm guessing he hasn't paid money to someone he owes or didn't deliver on a job. I don't know, I don't really care. I've got nothing against smugglers per se but they haven't really got anything going for them to put me off hunting them like Jedi, for example so this guy was just unlucky." She explained.

"Shouldn't be too hard to find. It's Tatooine after all. There are only limited places for him to be once we're in the town. He'll probably have a crew at his disposal but I wouldn't expect much resistance if they realise they're not the ones wanted." She shrugged. "But we'll see."

Once she finished, she took the plate of food and set it down at the table and was quick to dig in. "If nothing else, you've given me a real culinary experience in the time we've known each other." She told him between mouthfuls.

Kahlil nodded along as Raya Krayt explained the bounty. In truth he didn't mind the work bounty hunters did, provided it wasn't all killing. And this job didn't seem like it would be. Good. Even if they had to take down these extra goons. He'd opt for as non leathal as possible, but he wasn't going to make her bend to his whims and desires. That's not what a Jedi should do.

Quite the grin formed at her compliment between mouthfuls. She didn't need to say a thing, given how happily she was eating. Still thpugh, he liked to hear it. Kahlil leaned forward a bit and winked. "Don't worry, I got plenty of things I can help ya experience."

The Mandalorian smiled at Kahlil's comment before looking back down at her food without saying anything, unsure how to react to such a comment. No one had spoken to her like that before. Mandalorians, or at least the ones she associated with, didn't tend to be sweet talkers.

Once both had finished, she got up from the table and took her plate over to the kitchen where she placed it in the sink and looked over her shoulder at Kahlil with a smug smile. "Enjoy washing the dishes. I'm going to finish getting dressed." She informed him before walking back to the bedroom, referring to how she didn't feel completely dressed without her armour.

It took her a few minutes but she then re-emerged back into the living area with full armour, weapons and carrying her helmet which she then placed on the holotable.

Her smile only made his larger. The fact she actually glanced to her food and fall silent was a little nerve wracking. Too much? No, not with that kind of smile. Kahlil enjoyed his meal in silence with her before laughing. Right. He'd lost. "With how much you need to put on, probably for the best." It wasn't a long process to clean the dishes, but it was one he had to focus on. He was just putting them away when Raya Krayt stepped back out. Another wink as he walked off to his own room to gather up his own gear.

"Hard to tell which you look better in. Armor, or barely anything." It was a distraction at this point. Their lack of sleep and the reason why weighed heavily in the back of his mind. Every word was meant, but he'd never of said them aloud if he wasn't feeling off. Not that she'd know. Soon as he was out of sight the facade dropped and his sorrow returned.

He could feel her misery. Had the whole night through. Empathy was a strong sensation in the Force for him. He gave a sad smile to his reflection in his mirror, then put the smile back on as he stepped back out and tugged his jacket on.

"R6 should be landing us right about now. Got an idea where you want to start?"

Raya couldn't argue with that one given how extensive the armour was so she simply shrugged and smiled to acknowledge he was correct before leaving. She was adjusting one of her vambraces when she saw Kahlil approaching to go to his own room. "Hey!" She exclaimed, playfully slapping him on the arm as he passed her and if he caught her eye she would be smiling and shaking her head. She wasn't a particularly serious person, unless she needed to be, so she didn't mind some flirtatious teasing.

Finally, she put the cape on over her head and then slid her helmet on before walking over to Kahlil. "I think our best bet will be the docks. I mean that's where smugglers tend to hang out, right? But the tracking fob should give us some indication once we're near." She told him. It was jobs like these that she enjoyed, where she could be away from the drama and politics of being Alor and adopt the role of a simple Mandalorian and bounty hunter again.

Once they touched down and stepped outside, she immediately let out a sigh. "These things should come equipped with air conditioning." She said as she tapped the side of her helmet. Despite the amount of times she had been to Tatooine, she didn't think she would ever get used to the heat in this armour.

His grin widened at the playful slap. Good. He wasn't crossing any lines with Raya Krayt. Back out on the ramp he nodded once. The docks made a lot of sense. At least they weren't going to have to go far. Surprise crossed his face as she made mention of air conditioning though. Then a chuckle. That turned into a full on laugh after a moment. "You don't? I thought for sure there was some kind of thermo regulation in those. Or you'd just melt. That's hilarious!" His laughter faded after a moment, though his grin certainly didn't.

"First thing we do after this is figure out how to get you at least some kind of cooling layer so you don't end up a puddle. There's only one way either of us want that to happen." Another wink before he turned his gaze out to the docks they were walking through. The tracking fob would certainly make this easy to follow along with. Though, maybe it was cheating? It felt like it was cheating.

"Get anything yet?"

The Mandalorian smiled and shook her head. Although her expressions were now concealed, she knew from her experience of the Sith that her emotions would not be. It felt rather exposing to know that regardless of whether she wore a helmet or not, she wouldn't be able to hide her feelings from a Force User.

"There can be. I just don't have it." She replied, rolling her eyes at his reaction, though she was still smiling. "Hey, shut up!" She lightly jabbed her elbow into his side.

"Yeah, a quick job so we don't have to be out here long."
She replied, not relenting to his seemingly flirtatious attitude to tease him in return. Her attention turned to the tracking fob which alerted they were close so she drew a blaster and approached the docking bay directly ahead but as soon as she did, she heard other blasters drawn and glanced around to see people from other docking bays aiming at the pair.

"I guess there's honour among smugglers." She mused.

He winced at the elbow in his side, but it didn't make the grin lessen in the slightest. Kahlil was having quite a bit of fun, thankfully not at Raya Krayt's expense. Or at least he assumed so. She felt like she was still having fun herself. The sound of the fob brought the smile down though. Business. His eyes scanned around just in time to see the group springing their ambush.

"What'r the odds you'll just give him up peacefully?" Kahlil raised his hands slowly. No response. That was an answer in on itself though. "Alright then." The Jedi then lowered his hands. The air grew suddenly heavy as he did, and without warning each and every single person that had a gun on them was out flat against the ground. Struggling against an invisible weight.

"I'll keep them here. You go get our guy."

Raya wasn't sure where to aim her blaster at first. They didn't have nearly enough arms between them to contend with the amount of weapons on the pair but then she neglected the fact that her bounty-turned-ally was a Jedi who had power beyond mere weaponry which was soon showcased as he forced them onto the ground. It was the first time she had witnessed Force abilities being utilised in a non-destructive manner and she gazed around in awe for a moment before heeding Kahlil's words and snapping back into action.

The Mandalorian ran towards the hangar ahead and was greeted by half a dozen crew members who had been interrupted in the process of loading the ship. They had heard the commotion outside and so were expecting the bounty hunter but she too was expecting them and already had her second blaster in her hand to aim at two of the crew members. "You know who I'm here for. Give him up and none of you have to get hurt." She offered them but it seemed their loyalty ran deep as no one even flinched. "Suit yourself." She shrugged, giving the signal that the fight was about to begin.

The first blaster bolt pinged off of her shoulder but she returned fire and shot the man dead while simultaneously firing at someone on the opposite side of the hangar who fired at her. She knew she was far too exposed so backed up to where a couple of crates were stacked and ducked behind them while firing defensively. She pulled a shock grenade from her belt and launched it behind her, causing a sudden ceasefire which she took advantage of by moving out of the cover and firing at those who were too stunned to return fire.

She counted the number of people in front of her and by the time she concluded one was missing, she was already pinned on the floor beneath him after he jumped down from the railing above. In the struggle to pin her arms, he made the mistake of getting too close so with a powerful headbutt she knocked him off balance and pushed him off of her before shooting him and getting back to her feet, though she was in no rush as there was nothing standing between her and the bounty now since she trusted Kahlil could handle his end of things.

The Mandalorian approached the open ship hanger and replaced one of her blasters, expecting resistance but since she expected him to be the only one left then she didn't expect it to be too difficult. She walked aboard the ship with caution, blaster at the ready, and approached the cockpit but the feeling of a gun against the back of her neck stopped her in her tracks. "Drop your weapons." The man ordered, to which Raya complied and dropped her blaster before holding her empty hands to the side to show him but as she was raising them she made a sudden move to grab the barrel of the gun to try and jerk his hand free as she whipped around.

It didn't go to plan though as the struggle resulted in him pulling the trigger which sent a blaster bolt into the unprotected area of Raya's forearm. She yelped as the bolt seared into her arm but the sudden surge in adrenaline spurred her on and without missing a beat she raised her forearm and fired a poison dart at her target who promptly fell to the floor after being struck. She stepped over the man and walked down the ramp and out of the ship, back to Kahlil, cradling her arm. "Let's go." She told him.

Kahlil stayed where he was, focused on keeping the odds at least somewhat fairer for Raya Krayt to handle. The eruption of blaster fire brought a frown to his features. No, he didn't like the idea of killing people. A surge of pain caught his attention.

For a moment he was tempted to rush into the ship. He could feel her pain. It made him worry. Thankfully he needed no such intervention as he watched the Mandalorian step out. Confusion settled. "And the bounty?" She wasn't the type to fail. Which meant she opted for the cold option of her bounty. He let out a sigh before releasing his hold and following her out.

"C'mon. Let me look at the shot." He'd lead the way back to the ship, carefully looking around them. It'd be pretty obvious now he was some kind of force user. And there was always a price for them. They'd be on the ship soon enough though, and R6 was already setting them up to take off.

"Armor off."

"I did the job." Raya replied. She expected he wouldn't be best pleased with the outcome of the bounty but she was far from in the mood to get into a philosophical debate about the differences of their cultures.

She walked back to the ship but didn't say anything, not exactly in a talkative mood after being shot. "It's fine. Just give me a bacta patch." She told him nonchalantly. It was in her culture to not seem weak and she was living up to the standards. "I just need a bacta patch." She told him again after he demanded she take her armour off but it soon became clear that he wouldn't relent.

"Fine." She sighed before sitting on the couch and slowly removing her helmet and the armour from her upper half, careful to avoid the wound, until she was down to her vest. She inspected the wound but the helmet couldn't conceal her expression of grimace as she did any more.

While the Jedi didn't like killing, he knew it was sometimes a necessary thing. And he certainly wasn't about to lecture Raya Krayt on it. The only thing he was going to lecture her about was the stubbornness in which she refused to let him help her. He got a bactapatch anyway from a nearby medkit, carefully setting it on the wound once it was revealed.

Then set a hand atop it. He took a breatb, exhaling slowly. Once more the Force bent to his will. He wasn't good at healing, but he could at least numb the pain while the patch went into effect. When he was finished he flopped back into a seat, sighing. "There. That should help. Where do you need to go to turn in the bounty?"

The Mandalorian breathed a sigh of relief after the patch was applied and the pain began to subside but her gaze sought out Kahlil's as his hand remained on her arm. From the looks of it, he was having an effect on the wound through his use of the Force. When he finished, she slumped back into the seat beside him and kicked her shoes off again. "Thank you." She said sincerely with a grateful smile.

While she was about to remind him that he had fulfilled his obligations, she considered how the outpost she needed to go to was closer than any desirable planet so he might as well drop her off there. "It's a guild outpost at these-" She pressed a button on her vambrace which sat beside her and produced a hologram of coordinates. "-coordinates." She offered the vambrace to him.

For a moment, she sat wondering what to say before she addressed him again. "You've really done a lot more than you needed to. Well... you didn't owe me anything to begin with. Are all Jedi like this?" She asked.
