You, Me and a Nightmare

Jaminere - Sewers.

Her clothes were still wet from the sewage water, but under her feet the ground was solid and dry. These parts of the sewers were only flooded in torrential rain, preventing the water from running up to the streets. Even though they were dry, the stench was pungent enough to pierce through the filters of her helm. She crouched for a moment and reached out a hand, touching what looked like a wet footprint. She looked up, checking that there was no drip.

Did she come through here?

The assassin tagged her location on her map and scrolled ahead to see how the lay of the land would be. it split in two further down, one went up into the city, the other lead to a reserve. It would be a long drop and a cold, wet stop.

Darth Ophidia rose to her full height again and started down the corridor, quick, quiet, cautious. She was watchful. While the darkness was almost a part of her, it was also fickle. She would rather set the ambush than be ambushed herself. Such was the fault of being the predator; you had to follow in the footsteps of your prey.

She kept a thumb on the ignition of one of her sabres, but both hilts were silent and cold. She kept her presence dampened and her footsteps light and still, but even she would not assume her own invisibility. While she hunted, she was unknowing of what occurred on the surface. The signals were weak down here. No matter what happened -

She stalked her prey.

Phew

Phew

Phew

Her stride was lengthy, working in tandem with the speed she had left. With her last intake and exhale of air, she stopped. Her chest rose and fell, nearly carving its way through her combat suit as she stood facing three different passageways. In rotation, she circled the entirety of the room, pondering where to go next.

In her weakened state, she couldn't help but deconstruct the odds...sweat wrote jagged lines across all of her bruises. What cuts or minor wounds she suffered were seared just as they were made; they still stung in pain.

She'd suffered worst but...this was likely as close to death as she had come.

Tired

She reach out and leveraged herself against one of the duracrete walls, and in that second she shut her eyes while finally acknowledging all the pain she felt; her face scrunched up in reaction.

The rest of the rebels escaped...

Wrapped in shadow, soaked in obscurity, watchful, the Pale Assassin stalked down the hall.

The further down she came, the more clear the sound rang; breath, not her own, quick and heavy.

Emotion followed like a scent, pain, apprehension, hope? Perhaps. Seeing without seeing, rather feeling and sensing at a distance, she pieced together the aura of Romi at a distance.

Ophidia restrained her malice, kept it wrapped up tight within herself as she stalked ever closer to the shape in her mind, the source of scent and sound. Her breath was slow and soft, eyes unblinking, feet touching soundlessly on the wet floor.

She pointed the sabre, at the head, a little down, to the right. Her other hand ready at the second hilt. cl-snap-hiss The red sabre spat to life, aimed above Romi's right shoulder. The second hilt was produced right after, in a deft sweep. She kept it ready but inactive.

"Are you ready to surrender?"

Hehh

The hum of the blade caught her momentarily off-guard, and if she had moved any further, she would have walked right into it. In the second it took to flare her nostrils, she bit down on her bottom row of teeth and ceased all breathing. In her weakened state, she body grew stiff...

"You..."

She slide her right foot over just a bit, closing in on the wall directly next to her. "Are gonna have to take me by force!" She brought her right leg up and kicked into the wall, propelling herself up and into a twist of which she igniting her own lghtsaber and swung around in the air, ferociously bringing her lightsaber down from her right shoulder to her left leg. At this point she was using fighting on pure skill...growing tired by the second.

Knowing Ophidia was skilled enough to finesse that, she only wanted to draw some space between them. When she did, stumbled back a few steps. Heaving, she noticed two other crimson beams cutting through the maw of darkness.

"She has her agents..."

The Jedi thought to herself.

Swiftly she turned and sprinted down the left tunnel, with one of her agents giving chase, Romi fell into a pure sprinting form before losing her balance and sliding along the wet surface of the sewer. "Dammit!" She push through it, digging her heel into the duracrete in order to pivot. As she did, she intercepted the swift blade of the assassin, cutting into his blades trajectory in order to off balance him. However, he was able to hold her there in a lock. She failed to apply enough pressure in order to gain the upper hand, he pushed back and won. In retaliation he swung in order to decapitate her, but with a subtle bend in her waist she went under and came up within his guard with a spin.

In those split seconds she was the faster one, and she followed that spin through with a round kick. With the back of her calf crashing in his head, she flipped him over and landed in a crouched position.

Though this gave Ophidia and her second agent time to catch up for sure.
