SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Lightweight, modular construction (relatively speaking)
  • Advanced Targeting System
  • Onboard Power Source
Strengths:
  • Massively Powerful- Yoda's Chaingun proved itself capable of destroying an entire droid army, to include heavy armor, in a matter of moments.
  • Tremendous Rate of Fire- Rate of fire calculated at about 3600 rounds per minute (See description for details.)
  • Lightweight, Modular Construction- Though it's clearly not light by the standards of normal weapons, it was light enough that Yoda was able to carry it on his back. Furthermore, he was able to deploy it at the push of a button.
  • Advanced Targeting System- As demonstrated in the only battle in which it saw use, it was completely able to destroy an entire droid army without so much as scratching the commander's tank. Notable in that there were multiple targets behind said tank.
Weaknesses:
  • Stationary- Once emplaced, it cannot be redeployed easily.
  • Target- The chaingun is large, and it sits on an elevated platform, making it and its operator an easy target.
  • It Belongs in a Museum- This is an ancient artifact from the Clone Wars. Despite its awesome firepower, it is too old and too valuable to ever see combat again under any circumstances- period. Once RCFC is done performing its research, the weapon will be demiled and placed on display in a museum.
DESCRIPTION
Yoda's Chaingun only ever saw battle once, that we know of. It was used in a single fight to obliterate an entire droid army in the span of a few moments, and was never seen again.

Not much is known about the chaingun, aside from what was observed from its use. We don't know who made it, or why it never saw wider deployment. In retrospect, this was a mistake, as a few of these things could have easily turned the tide of the war in favor of the Republic. We know that it has a tremendous rate of fire and massively powerful bolts, and we know that it's lightweight enough for the diminutive Jedi master to carry on his back. Granted, this particular Jedi Master was also known to lift a snubfighter out of a swamp with nothing but his mind, but it is technically man portable, so we must assume that it's light enough to be carried, despite its size.

The chaingun was recovered from a cult that had planned to use it as part of a mass ritual sacrifice for purposes unknown. Upon recovery, it was brought back to RCFC, where it was carefully studied, then rendered safe for display in a museum. In order to do this, historical weapons experts rendered it unable to fire ever again, while leaving intact its other functions for the sake of the display. Note that because of this, it will be impossible to use in combat ever again. This is unfortunate, but best for everyone, because it is seriously overpowered.

OOC Note: To calculate the rate of fire, I counted the number of bolts visible in the picture (31 by my count), approximated the distance using Yoda's known height, and came up with around 20 meters. Since the picture is clearly not to scale, it's impossible to make a more accurate guess. Once we knew how far the bolts had to travel, I calculated the time it would take to travel that distance based on an average blaster bolt speed of 35 m/s. This got me a little over half a second. 31 bolts visible in a little over a half a second nets around 60 bolts a second, or 3600 rounds per minute.
