OVERVIEW OF THE FACTION
Curious as to who we are and what we do? This overview should help provide a concise insight into our little community.
g1wTr58.png

ABOUT
Ever considered a more simple life? Wondered what it would be like to live as a regular person in the Star Wars universe? Yharwod is simply designed as a bit of fun, there are no 'main characters' here; we're a faction that explores life outside of the main intergalactic-spanning events~ regular people getting on with their regular lives. As a result, the faction is particularly social-based with a hint of PvE for flavour and intrigue.

The overarching theme of the faction is as an agricultural society, we are one of six states within the Epican Commune and it is our job to provide food and goods for the other five states as well as to produce income for ourselves. Housing around three-hundred farmers, staff and law-enforcement officers and holding around 150,000 mi² of territory, we are the largest yet least populous state.

With our village located within the southern mountainous region of our territory, bordered by the tourism-oriented Typhe society to our south, the vast majority of our territory consists of plains and forests with an unused tundra at the most northern point, bordering the Syko military society to the north and north east. Of our ninety-six million acre territory, only around thirty million acres are used between arable farming and livestock.

On our entire western border, we are bordered by the hostile House Lagan'ia, another agricultural powerhouse on Epica who we skirmish with regularly. To our east, we are bordered by the Arcort society, the production and legislative state as well as the Desyk society, the judicial and law-enforcement focused state further south on our eastern border. The nomadic Trinia Nation borders our northwest and we often trade regularly.

As a result of our rural status, we are the only state within the Epican Commune to be permitted to form a paramilitary organisation outside of the official capacities of the Syko Military society and Desyk Judiciary society. Therefore, our own forces are split into two distinct organisations: the Yharwod Rural Marshal Service, which acts as the official police force of Yharwod and operates in both a law-enforcement and military capacity; and the Yharwod Civilian Reserves, a militia formed of every Yharwod civilian that can be activated during times of distress.

In comparison to the other five states, Yharwod is the most open and community-oriented society. Essentials such as habitation and dining are communal, promoting socialisation, as well as free for working staff and children. Due to the close-knit population, crime rates within Yharwod are extraordinarily low~ leaving the Rural Marshal Service to focus on protecting our homes and training the reserves.

Habitation, nourishment, hydration and training are free within Yharwod and as a result, the paychecks are comparatively lower than the other five states. In order to maximise the efficiency of cost-effective solutions to keep costs down, all housing is communal and each habitation dome houses twelve individuals with their own beds & personal spaces laid out in a circular position, as well as a communal space in the centre for all occupants.

In terms of government, Yharwod could be described as a direct democracy, with the speaker bringing issues to vote and representing the faction in the Commune Council of the Epican Commune which is, in turn, a representative democracy. 'Commune' simply refers to the fact that resources produced by each state are required to be shared with the other states; 'states' refer to each of the six societies which are used interchangeably.

Although the Epican Commune is one nation, the societal ideologies and differences often cause conflict both in politics and in the field. Our Rural Marshal Service often conflicts and quarrel with both the Syko Military and Desyk Constabulary in terms of jurisdiction and approach. See the domestic profiles page for more information on the other states.

Hopefully this overview gives you an insight into our faction, we are a small group of people in a big galaxy. If you have any questions, please ask!

MILITARY
OVERVIEW
As the most rural society of the Epican Commune and with the largest amount of land and least amount of occupants, the importance of protecting both our people and territory is paramount.

As the only one of the six states of the Epican Commune permitted to form a paramilitary force, Yharwod's defensive force is separated into two distinct organisations; the Yharwod Rural Marshal Service who's role is to protect the people of Yharwod, acting as both police and military to the rural society in an official capacity; and the Yharwod Civilian Reserves, which is comparable to a militia and is only activated in times of distress.

Classified as Yharwod's official law enforcement service, the Rural Marshal Service consists of thirty hand-picked and highly trained individuals selected from Yharwod's civilian population. Officially, their role is to train the reserves, act as law enforcement for the citizens of Yharwod and to undertake paramilitary roles in defence of the society.

Led by the experienced Jhon "Grim" Grimark Jhon "Grim" Grimark , veteran of the Galactic Alliance and the official Rural Director of the Rural Marshal Service, the service consists of three Marshals, six supervisory deputy marshals and twenty-one deputy marshals split into teams of ten.

In contrast to the professional Rural Marshal Service, the significantly more simple civilian reserves consists of every single member of the society. Trained regularly by the Rural Marshal Service, the point of the civilian reserves is to ensure that we can protect ourselves in times of distress.

Led by the Speaker, which is currently Kalli Mylas Kalli Mylas , the civilian reserves consist of around two-hundred and fifty members; ten of which are officers who oversee twenty-five soldiers and recruits each. Experienced soldiers are free to be called-up by the Rural Marshal Service for special operations, if required.

Entry into the civilian reserves is mandatory for all member of Yharwod and each individual must pass the simple, bi-weekly basic training course provided by the marshal service to progress.

g1wTr58.png

CONFLICT
HOUSE LAGAN'IA
Currently the greatest threat to Yharwod, the power-hungry noble agricultural family of Lagan'ia. Intent on attempting to claim Yharwod lands for themselves, we are under a constant barrage of provocations such as vandalism, thievery and skirmishes.

Remain armed when venturing long distances and update the Rural Marshal Service on any hostile activities you see, it is up to the Marshal's to protect the society from harm.

SYKO SOCIETY
Officially known as the Epican Commune Defence Force, the Syko Society is a militaristic state who's role is to defend the borders of the Epican Commune. Although extremely important to the society and an excellent deterrent for would-be invaders, they often quarrel with the Yharwod Marshal's on the best approach for defence; often attempting to pull rank and strong-arming their decisions onto the service and people.

DESYK SOCIETY
Unanimously disliked by the other five states, the snobbish, bureaucratic state of Desyk is responsible for the judiciary system of the Epican Commune as well as operating the Desyk Constabulary, the national police force that oversees and maintains order throughout the commune.

Although they rarely visit Yharwod due to the Rural Marshal Service effectively covering law-enforcement (paired with our rural location), they still maintain jurisdiction over Yharwod civilians as they do over the rest of the commune, though not over the Marshal Service when in Yharwod territory.

Vivaciously snobbish and elitist, Desyk Constables consistently attempt to out-rank and out-manoeuvre the Marshals as a point of assertion and pride, often attempting to catch civilians out simply to make a point of their self-proclaimed superiority.

g1wTr58.png

RELIGION
Seen as a personal journey of the heart, the majority of Epican's are followers of Ashla and
iotU4Of.png
are devoted to their beliefs. Culturally, as a result there is a heavy emphasis placed on community, family and loyalty as honesty and honour are primary values of their belief.

As a result of Yharwod's isolation from the rest of society, faith is held in high regard by its people and acting in the light of Ashla is seen as devotion to Ashla. Help is always offered to those in need, from friends needing help moving boxes to refugees desperate for shelter, it would be difficult to find an Epican native who would refuse.

Prayer and meditation is encouraged for the followers of Ashla, and many Yharwod Epican's have an altar available in their private space or may visit the Ashlan chapel within the main complex.

For non-believers, it is perfectly acceptable within Yharwod to not follow the faith, all are welcome regardless and the path to Ashla is seen as a journey one must undertake themselves. Nobody will be pressured to follow Ashla nor pressured to partake in religious activities.

CHARACTER CREATION GUIDE
Wondering how your character fits into our community? Here’s a guide outlining some general ideas for your consideration!
g1wTr58.png

FACTION ROLES

JBCSkAo.png

FARMHANDS

Local workers, passerbys and the colloquially known new lifers are often found as farmhands, completing a vast variety of low-level jobs in both livestock, farming and maintenance in return for shelter, food and a small paycheck. All aspiring farmers start here~ learning from agricultural specialists.

MZ4eg4B.png

SUPPORT STAFF
Other skills are also vital to the smooth operation of the agricultural society; specialists in various roles such as drivers and chefs, to name a few, are essential in keeping the faction alive and well. Any and all ideas are welcome in this area!

3E2wrFq.png

RURAL MARSHAL SERVICE
Scouts, protectors and warriors, the sole task of the Rural Marshal Service is to protect the citizens of Yharwod. Only thirty in number, these highly-trained, versatile agents of the law are vital to the community, training its civilian reserves and patrolling its borders.

FTbpOfA.png

FARMERS

The agricultural experts of Yharwod, these experienced individuals organise and implement effective agricultural strategies and work closely with farmhands to keep operations running effectively. Either generalists or specialists in areas such as arable farming or livestock, these well-trained individuals are vital to the smooth running of the faction.

8wTwagu.png

SUPERVISORS

Leaders & guides, the supervisors are farmers and support staff who oversee and manage both land and people, they are usually elected and are simply added responsibility on-top of their regular duties. Some supervisor roles include the speaker, administrators and heads of security, agriculture and habitation.
g1wTr58.png

CHARACTER BACKGROUNDS

Th2laUA.png

EPICAN

Born on Epica, these individuals form the majority of workers within Yharwod. Friendly, loyal and hard-working, they are the backbone of operations and offer vital support and relief for the faction.

XQkSNdh.png

NEW LIFERS

Individuals from all around the galaxy; office workers, labourers and mechanics looking for an escape~ a return to nature and a simple, peaceful life often find their way to planets like Epica. Offering an escape, Yharwod accepts these individuals and their families on an as-needed basis.

CLTEDwc.png

VETERANS

Widely regarded by the Epican people as hardworking individuals, military and law-enforcement veterans are always welcomed into the community, provided they are willing to work during their stay. Occupying roles such as farm hands or security, veterans are an excellent supplement to the workforce.

qb36YU5.png

CRIMINALS & EXILES

Accepted on a case-by-case basis, criminals and exiles are rarely accepted by the community yet in specific circumstances are offered a chance at a second life as farmhands. Vetted by security to ensure they don't pose a threat to the community, these individuals can earn trust through hard work and commitment.

a53aiPM.png

REFUGEES

Refugees of war, oppression and famine are consistently taken in by the affectionate Epican people without fail. As a result of their Ashlan tenets, the Epican people see it as their duty to look after these unfortunate souls and are always offered housing and work when required.

DEMAGNETIZE / DEIONIZE
The first step in preparing land for crops~ demagnetizes (radioactive) thorium particles and scrubs ion emissions from passing vehicles.

TILLING
The second step in preparing land for crops, use the modular drone tractor to plough the land in preparation for seeding.

CULTIVATING
The third step in preparing the land for crops, use the modular drone tractor to cultivate the land to loosen the top soil for optimum planting conditions.

FERTILIZE
The fourth step in preparing the land for crops, use the modular drone tractor or aerial application vehicle (crop duster) to apply fertilizer to prepare the soil for seeding.

SEEDING
The fifth step in arable farming, use the modular drone tractor or the StarFlora SB/3000 Seeder (x) to plant the appropriate crops within the ground.

HERBICIDE / PESTICIDE
The sixth step in arable farming, use the modular drone tractor or aerial application vehicle (crop duster) to spray herbicides and pesticides over the crops to protect them.

ROLEPLAY LOCATIONS & IDEAS
Looking for some inspiration on where to RP or what you can do?
g1wTr58.png

ROLEPLAY LOCATIONS
AGRICULTURAL ESTATE
BUNKHOUSES

Our sleeping quarters~ large domes that house a number of individuals within. Includes up to twelve double beds laid out in a circular position, each with their own wardrobe, storage and desk nearby; as well as a communal area within the centre which includes seating and an indoor firepit for warmth.

CANTEEN
Located within one of the habitation domes is the canteen, a large dining area, kitchen and bar where food & drink is prepared and distributed for free. Many communal tables are dotted around, encouraging socialisation.

DEPOT
Within the main complex lies the depot, housing for the large number of vehicles and equipment we utilize. Containing mechanic bays and numbered parking slots, an ideal location for some organisation and maintenance.

ADMINISTRATION
Also within the main complex, a number of offices and meeting rooms are housed for use by everyone~ bar a few select offices. An ideal spot to discuss crop rotations or to point out the new farmhands shocking plough lines.

ARMOURY
Overseen by the security team, the armoury houses all the weaponry owned by the society~ individuals are encouraged to leave their personal weapons here as they can be retrieved at any time. Security are constantly armed to protect the society.

STORAGE
An obscene amount of storage with drop-off and collection bays for vehicles. Everything is stored within the storage complex, from food to crops to machine parts. This is also where imports and exports are managed as there is a bay door for arriving and departing aerial vehicles.

WILDERNESS
As a result of the ruralness of the estate, there is plenty of exploration to do nearby. Ranging from forests to mountains, go on a hike!

LIGHTBALL FIELD
Sports is important and offers an exciting recreational activity. Join in with the national lightball team and get practicing so we can win the national tournament!

FIELDS & PASTURES
FARMLAND

An incredible amount of space is dedicated to arable farmland with crops needing constant attention around the Epican 25 hour clock. Tasks always need completing depending on the growth stage of the crop (see Agricultural Guide) and work-rotas must be followed to keep on-top of the farms busy schedule.

PASTURES
Taking up even more space than farmland, the animals of the Yharwod pastures require constant attention. From Murras to Sheepos to Reindeers to Orbaks to Nerfs to Banthas. There is always work that needs doing, comparable to arable farming operations except more demanding as a result of the amount of sentient-interaction required.

WILDERNESS
The vast majority of Yharwod-occupied land is unused and is left to the wilderness, ideal for exploring and hunting pests or predators. Take an Orbak and a rifle and explore to your hearts content~ just don't hunt animals to extinction. Oh! and bring some of the meat to the kitchens, they'll appreciate it!

BORDERLANDS
Half of our borders are safe, protected by our fellow allied states. However the other half is bordered by hostile, power-hungry noble families, mobsters and corporations. Take care when exploring the borderlands, make sure you're armed and make sure they don't encroach into our territory.

OTHER
EPICA CITY

Located quite a distance from Yharwod territory, Epica City is a colossal city located within the territory of the Borgias family~ the most powerful faction on Epica. An ideal location for trading, meeting and exploring.

OFFWORLD
Although we rarely conduct business off-world, there may still be situations where we interact with people and factions outside of the confines of our homes. Feel free to get creative here.
g1wTr58.png

ROLEPLAY IDEAS
WORK ROTA - ARABLE FARMING
Take a control tractor and four drone tractors and get farming! Chat with a friend over the radio and cover as much ground as possible. Fend off predators and pests to protect our crops, fix a broken down drone or go fix a fence while the drones do their job.

WORK ROTA - LIVESTOCK
One of the more labour-intensive roles within the farm, look after one of the many animals we keep. Herd, sheer, mark and feed the large number of fauna we keep and look after for their meats, furs and skins (except the Orbaks, which are for sale or personal use.) An excellent activity for a group!

WORK ROTA - DOMESTIC ROLES
As important as the farming aspect of Yharwod is, other roles such as cooking, cleaning, driving and security are just as important and vital to the smooth operations of the farm. Let your imagination go wild with this one.

WORK ROTA - MAINTENANCE
Vehicles, equipment and habitation wear down after a while and need maintaining. Grab your tool box and start fixing the place up! Security should also take a look at those muddy slugthrowers and scatterguns!

WORK ROTA - STORAGE
The never-ending influx and efflux of (literally) everything requires some degree of organisational capability. Organise our exports for collection, bring food to the kitchen for preparation or make delivery runs for collected crops and equipment.

RELAX, SOCIALISE, EAT & SLEEP
After a long day of honest, hard work, you deserve to relax. Catch up with your friends, grab a bite to eat in the canteen and have a drink! Go for a walk to clear your head and simply chillax before hitting the proverbial hay. Life is peaceful here, enjoy it while you can.

HOLD MEETINGS & DISCUSSIONS
Agriculture is a busy profession as is the state of the society~ discuss crop rotations in a meeting room or hold a forum for any issues you'd like to bring up and hold a vote to make change happen. There's always lots to discuss in our busy little world.

EXPLORE, SIGHTSEE OR HUNT
You're not confined to the estate when you're not working~ go and enjoy yourself. Explore the farms, visit cities and see the wonders of Epica, Ashla's defacto second creation. Or, grab a rifle and go cull the booming Viator population and smaller pests that damage our crops and livestock.

VISIT FRIENDLY STATES
As only one of the six factions of the Epican Commune, the other five states are free to visit at your leisure! Check out the diplomatic profiles page and get creative!

DEFEND OUR TERRITORY
Bordered by aggressive states, we can't allow these power-hungry factions to encroach into our territory! Erect fences, patrol the border and prevent raiders and thieves from stealing our livestock!

OTHER
Anything goes, if you have any questions then feel free to reach out! Just no running off to quickly save the galaxy before dinner, you have work tomorrow!
