§ Major Locations:
Xipetotec: The oldest city on the planet. It has been the seat of the planetary government since the unification of the Toavan people. It also contains the Grand Temple of Xipetotec, one of the largest temples ever constructed by the Toavan. After falling out of use as a place of worship, the Toavan typically use it as a museum and a place to defenestrate those who have wronged them.
§ Affiliation: None

CULTURE

The Toavan are a sophisticated people that place high importance on sustainability, tradition, and the environment. The Toavan are also very mindful of their planet’s environment and nature, refusing to engage in large-scale mining and foresting operations that are prevalent on other planets. Due to a history of repression and enslavement, they are also wary of outsiders, but not outright xenophobic.

Unlike larger planets where the primary species is well-traveled and populous, the Toavan of Xion are essentially monocultural, with very little variation among local populations. The defining aspect of the Toavan is their fascination with the sun- Olmetecutil. In ancient times, the Toavan worshipped the sun as if it were a God. They’ve since fallen out of such beliefs after a prolonged period of stagnation and abuse at the hands of ruling theocrats, but they maintain various traditions as remnants of their faith. Their fascination with the sun is still evident in many other aspects of their culture otherwise.

Nowadays, the Toavan are ruled by an oligarchy of aristocrats. These royalty make up the Xipetotec Assembly, which has generally governed with an even hand. Bloodline and family history are also important parts of Toavan culture. Even the lowliest peon can oftentimes trace their family tree back to before the Gulag Plague struck.
As one could reasonably assume from the above, Toavan are also obsessed with history and record keeping in general. Even the ancient Toavanese kept meticulous records. A recurring theme in Toavan culture is defenestration, which is illustrated in more detail in history.

TECHNOLOGY

Xion’s technology level is best described as no more advanced than other planets on average. However, the Toavan’s cultural emphasis on nature, sustainability, and the sun have had a profound effect on the technology they use. Toavan solar power plants are unrivaled in efficiency and their advanced farming methods result in much higher crop yields than other planets. Other than that, Xion is just like any other developed planet.

HISTORY

The Toavan evolved within a single region of the planet and spread out from there. These various offshoots didn’t fare very well, and by the time they had unlocked the secrets of agriculture (and thus civilization), only the originals remained. Only a few Toavan communities took the practice of farming seriously, the rest preferring a nomadic lifestyle.

Until something else happened, that is. As sapient creatures generally tend to do, some Toavan eventually fabricated a religion. They took to worshipping the sun, calling it Olmetecutil and lauding it as the source of all life and energy. A pantheon subsequently took form, but the name of the founder took precedence. Olmetecutilism took root fast, spreading among the various Toavan communities like wildfire. Within one hundred years of its inception, most of the Toavan communities were united in their reverence of Olmetecutil. Agriculture became a very important aspect of Toavanese culture. A ruling clergy of Olmetecutilism formed, and that was when Toavan society really picked up.

Now with a heightened emphasis on agriculture, the rest of Toavan began to abandon their original hunting and gathering life styles. Settlements started to grow into lavish cities of ornate stone buildings. City states formed and, even with their shared religious beliefs, still repeatedly warred one another. These city states were ruled by the various high priests of Olmetecutilism.

As city states conquered one another, nations formed, but they were still ruled by the high priests. Time continued and, some twelve-hundred years later, all of the Toavan nations had been conquered by one- the Dominion of Xipetotec. Having been united and it felt so good, the Toavan were free to actually develop themselves. They made great strides in architecture, science, city planning, and so forth now that they were slightly less focused on killing one another.

But things decayed another few centuries after that. The high priests became decadent and corrupt. Things stagnated. Poverty became a larger problem than usual. Attempts to grow cash crops en masse led to a deficit of food, which in turn resulted in widespread starvation. Community leaders who weren’t part of the religious elite, mostly merchants, writers, artists, philosophers, and so forth, decided they had enough of this nonsense. They were quickly joined by disillusioned priests and other religious leaders. Led by these sorts of people, violent civil war ensued.

The civil war lasted for the better part of ten years and ended with the high priests of Olmetecutilism being violently defenestrated from the largest temple in Xipetotec- the Grand Temple. The community leaders who led this revolution decided that a different kind of oligarchy would be the best way to go. An aristocratic oligarchy founded around the community leaders who led the revolution formed. Finally, the Toavan could enter into another golden age.

Then the Rakata showed up.

The Toavan were enslaved without much fuss, not being able to put up a fight against the much more advanced Rakata. Their farms churned out food for the Rakata war machine rather than themselves. Many Toavan were transported off world to work as slaves. Due to their relatively weak physiology, cunning nature, and meticulous record keeping, the Rakata mostly employed Toavan as slave overseers and record keepers.

Eventually the Infinite Empire proved it wasn’t all that infinite and collapsed in on itself. The Rakatan overseers of the world were violently overthrown and cornered in the Grand Temple of Xipetotec. They, too, were violently defenestrated. The aristocracy was able to reform itself and so began another age of glory. For a period, Xion remained mostly independent and conducted trade with the various Kingdoms and Mandates of the Tion Cluster and surrounding territories. Despite being dangerously close to Xim’s Empire, they managed to maintain independence. Once those were absorbed into the Republic, Xion would join as well.

Centuries later, the Separatist Crisis erupted and threatened to cleave the galaxy in twain. Originally the Toavan sided with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Startled by this news, it was reported that the Republic ambassador lost his footing and fell from a window of the Grand Temple of Xipetotec. Towards the end of the war, after realizing that the Confederacy was actually incompetent (and with a Republic taskforce swift approaching), Xion defected back to the Republic.

The Confederate ambassador was also startled by this news, and fell from the same window of the same Grand Temple of Xipetotec. Funny how that works. The Toavan were then ushered into the Galactic Empire, where they remained under the corrupt thumb of an Imperial governor for the next twenty years. When Emperor Palpatine was assassinated and the Empire fractured, the Toavan evicted the Imperials. Particularly, they evicted the Imperial Governor. Through a window. Of the Grand Temple of Xipetotec.

Xion was among the second wave of planets to join the New Republic and then the Galactic Alliance. Things then happened that the chronicler is not too familiar with, but suffice to say at some point at least one person was defenestrated. Centuries later, the One Sith rose to power, and the Toavan had little choice but to side with them. A Jedi Master visiting the planet happened to slip and fall out the window of the Grand Temple of Xipetotec at around the same time as the Toavan joined the One Sith.

After a similar period of twenty years, the One Sith fell. The vicious Sithlings and other officials they had sent to police Xion also fell through a window of the Grand Temple of Xipetotec at around the same time. Eventually the Gulag Plague struck Xion just as it had so many other planets. Unable to defenestrate the Gulag Plague, Xion languished under it for the four hundred year darkness just like everyone else. Fortunately, their expert record keeping preserved a great deal of their history.

Now the Gulag Plague has been gone for years, and the Toavan are ready to rejoin the galactic community at large. Though they are not particularly keen on letting non-Toavan live on the planet, they are certainly keen on engaging in trade. Particularly with their old friends in the Tion Cluster...

This is very good there are two things.

The Major locations should have at least a paragraph description in its section. IF you could please add that or if it is being made a location submission link the submission.

The second is location. By the rules a custom planet can be added to a hex with 3 or less planets occupying it. The hex you requested it be added to contains, Elom, Malachor V, Korriban, Thule and Ziost. Five planets and will need a new location. A hex with 3 or less worlds already occupying it.
