Biographical Information

Born into slavery on Malastare and forced into gas mining, Arkanis' childhood was hellish only in that his family struggled. When profits were good, he ate; and when profits suffered, they starved. In many situations, his parents went without so that he did not have to.

With no siblings, Arkanis had limited social interaction outside of his home life. Other children that worked the machinery considered him strange because he rarely complained, and he became ostracized when they learned that he believed their situation to be a part of the natural order.

During a Jedi raid, many slaves were liberated and left the planet for greener pastures. Due to an abnormally high midichlorian count and the interest of a younger, female Jedi Knight, his parents were moved to Coruscant and assisted in finding work. In that time, Arkanis was taken in by the order.

He became Padawan to Knight Marisa Seris, the young Corellian spitfire who discovered him. During several years of training, Arkanis revealed a strong talent for the Force, almost exclusively keeping to the Archives and Library for studies. Marisa approved of his development, but grew concerned that he did not integrate well with other Padawans and Jedi Knights.

Unknown to Arkanis, Marisa approached the Council with her concerns and they revealed a quiet reticence about training the boy. One of the Masters revealed that during his tests, the boy had expressed tendencies aligning with sociopathy, including a lack of basic human empathy. Considering that a Jedi required compassion to perform their duties, they had allowed him to train with the stipulation that he form bonds with others and learn the social skills and emotional capacity he would require.

With the knowledge that he had not, Marisa was faced with a choice. Consider Arkanis a failed Padawan, or defy the will of the Council and train him.

Marisa believed in Arkanis. As he matured into an older teenager, her feelings for him grew deeper. She confided in him the Council's decision, and his contempt solidified. During his sequestration in the Temple Archives, Arkanis had delved into the histories and prophecies of the Force. Knowledge of the Dark side kept hidden deep in those pages drove him to obsession.

He frequented the markets and undercity, buying up what knowledge he could from disreputable sources and came into possession of a certain Holocron. Armed now with the knowledge he needed, Arkanis began his descent into darkness.

Marisa had been blinded by her love. She continued to train Arkanis, certain that someone with his raw talent would certainly come into his own as a Jedi. She taught him Soresu, Lightsaber combat focused on defense, and trained him to understand the body. Her skills in healing were profound, and he found the way that she could use the Force… fascinating.

Bone could be rejuvenated. Sinew and flesh could be grown at will. Blood could clot. The Force could simulate even life itself.

But, Arkanis wondered… could it command death?

As they trained, Arkanis shifted his focus from healing to inverting that energy. He watched wounds fly open, flesh decay and wither away, and recognized that with time and effort, Knowledge could open doors that people believed locked.

She believed he was ready, and Arkanis agreed with her.

As Marisa smiled and lifted her saber to cut away his Padawan braid, his own weapon seared through her chest.

Eyes the color of blood seared into the Jedi's soul as the man she loved doled out the ultimate betrayal. Her lips etched the word 'why,' but no sound came from them. Not ever again.

Darth Xenro was born.

Appearance

Unimpressive overall, Xenro has pale flesh and striking red eyes. His hair is black and he is almost always wearing voluminous black robes that obscure most of his body.

Strengths

The Howling Dark: Xenro has delved deep into the mysteries of the Dark side. His gift for Sorcery and raw talent for commanding the Dark side of the Force are nigh peerless.

Genius: His extreme intellect affords him the ability to think ahead of his enemies, and his would be allies alike. He is a master manipulator and rarely gives anything away.

Sociopath: Xenro trusts and loves no one. At best he has alliances of convenience, at worst, he is an opportunist who will turn in an instant to gain an advantage.

Purist: Even among Sith, Xenro is abhorrently vile. He sees strength in a different manner from others, happily betraying other Sith and sabotaging the labors of would-be allies just to see them fail. In an ideal world, Xenro would annihilate every other "Lord" in the name of a pure Sith.

Frail body: Because his focal point is the Force, Xenro does not match up against Frontline fighters and opponents with a stronger physique. While the Force can make up for many things, he is fully aware of his shortcomings.

Corrupted Soul: Light side Force energy is crippling to Xenro due to how awash he is in the sea of darkness. Rebuking him can cause his ability to use the Force weaker and induce psychosis. The spirit of his former mentor lingers near him in hopes that Arkanis might one day be redeemed. Light side energies may cause her to manifest to various effects.
