SPECIAL FEATURES

• Improved Intelligence: The 1C series are a remarkable improvement from the standard Xarnait Battle Droid models in terms of sheer processing power and intrinsic tactical mindset. Their droid brains are significantly more powerful and developed, not only making them deadly combatants but also strategic officers and commanders. This isn't nearly to the level of a proper Tactical Droid of course as the scales at which the 1Cs are intended to operate are simply far smaller and more concentrated, however the potential of their processing power and instilled strategies aren't to be discarded as simple droid calculations.
• Built to Last: Unlike most battle droids these models are designed to actually survive, or at least be recoverable, after combat. They have extra plating and their most integral internal systems such as their processors and droid brain are protected by a plastoid case that isn't simply an extension of their wider hull and armor plating. Ideally this allows for the droids to be salvaged and redeployed with their knowledge and experiences from their last battles still intact and thus making them more capable soldiers as a result. That they are also equipped with more integrated equipment in order to ensure a greater survivability is another factor in this engineered continuality.

STRENGTHS

• Synthetic Officers: 1C models are made to be effective droid officers and commanders and this is achieved by several methods that will ideally overlap and support one another. They boast more sophisticated droid brains and processors, have integrated communications scramblers and transmitters to ensure a stable and secure line of communication at all times, and even have sensorscopes that allow them to better take in the full battlefield around them without the need for external information intake. Most integrally however they have holocameras that feed into internal data recorders that ensure their combat data can be properly recorded and referred back to later on in order to make them more effective.

WEAKNESSES

• Hardware Constraints: Naturally given that there is only so much room for processors within their casings and said processors can't be delicate due to them being in direct combat, the 1C models are somewhat limited in their potential intelligence by the simple limitations of their droid brains and processors. Given that they are meant to record and store a fair amount of live combat data this offers even less room in their systems for higher level calculations and more grandiose strategies like those that dedicated Tactical Droid models are capable of. They are essentially limited only to determining the course of their direct conflict at hand, nothing more.

DESCRIPTION
The Xarnait Battle Droids had been a fairly satisfactory addition to the Order of Wonosa's arsenal. Not only did the droids provide another source of income via their sales through Sanguine Defense Works but they also, perhaps more critically, aided in allowing Wonosan forces and operations to be expanded without expending their limited manpower and personnel. In this role they were a great yet admittedly limited success, as although the standard Xarnait models were effective enough and a step above most typical battle droid models they still had noticeably flaws. One of the largest being their limited tactical intelligence which left them on the level of conscripts and militia rather than proper soldiers, at least without guidance.

While leadership of the Xarnait could of course be done by organic commanders and officers, these would need to be done within relatively close contact to the droids themselves in order to ensure peak efficiency. This led to an endangerment of these personnel which naturally invalidated the whole point of using droids to begin with, leading to an alternative option being considered and developed. A new model of XN droid that would be capable of giving orders and making strategic decisions without the need for organic oversight and direction at all times yet which could still be in the field rather than behind the lines like most Tactical Droids commonly operated.

The XN 1C model would be the result of this development, somewhat sturdier and more robust than the baseline model in order to keep their more precious and expensive processors and droid brains intact and even recoverable so long as they didn't sustain direct damage. Unlike Tactical Droids which commonly operate as battlefield commanders, the 1C models would be designed to function more akin to low and mid level officers. Capable of making tactical decisions and taking direct command in battles without the need for a dedicated structure of information and directions outside of their chassis.

The 1Cs wouldn't be able to be made in as large numbers as their common baseline models of course given the nature of their higher level droid brains and processors as well as the extra suite of utilities built into their forms, however this would be accounted for in their design philosophy via the concept of them being able to learn from their previous engagements and being granted extra protections in order to ensure survivability of their most precious components. Naturally the Order of Wonosa wouldn't be lending out these models as they had done with the baselines due to their more expensive construction and would instead make the decision to incorporate their ideology and philosophies into the standard programming of the 1Cs.

This has resulted in the 1Cs actually valuing organic life, unlike many other battle droid models, and even understanding and employing tactics of sacrifice and martyrdom as the fanaticism of the Wonosan teachings has granted them a sliver of the usual zealous attitude that the cultists themselves often sport. It has yet to be determined whether this programming will come to be a boon or a weakness to their operations overall however yet if nothing else they are far more adept at managing duties regarding civilian populations than most droids tend to be.
