Manti stood firmly at the edge of the bridge's viewport, watching the world below the Manticore's Wrath. She had been dispatched to this world to deal with 'pirates' operating off of Cathar's moon, an armed resistance in all but name. It was a small operation apparently, supposedly backed by a few wealthy elites on the planet surface who rejected Mandalorian rule. While others did the investigating, arresting, and sentencing below it was Manti's responsibility to clean up this mess. So, she had come with firepower. The small flotilla was comprised entirely of ships forged by Mandal Hypernautics with a high ranking member of Clan Wyrvhor commanding each with an additional number of her kin waiting in the Manticore's Wrath's fighter bay, waiting for action. This was, in her opinion, the best of the best. Some of the best starships available to the Mandalorian Empire and the best fighter pilots and captains she could have hoped to have, though bias was sure to influence both opinions.

Outside of Clan Wyrvhor Manti had been sure to hand pick the crew of the vessels, reliable Mandalorians all. She had made sure to pick those who shared similar viewpoints to her clan, slowly congregating a list of reliable political allies within the Mandalorian Empire. It wasn't a particularly long list, and not many on it were big players within the Empire, but it was good to have none the less.

Turning from the viewport Manti would settle into the captain's chair, the thick leather cushioning her heavy beskar armor.

"Jaikell. Report." she commanded over the inter-fleet intercom. "What's your status?"

Jaikell's voice came through the intercom, crisp and steady.
He stands in command of the "Oath of Iron"

"Oath of Iron reporting in," he said, as he looks around the bridge at the fellow mandalorians manning their posts, the subtle hum of his ship's systems audible in the background. "We're holding position on the outer flank, Sensor sweeps are clean so far. No sign of incoming, but there is movement in low orbit above the moon Could be pirate craft or smugglers trying to slip away before the hammer drops."

He paused, a grin just detectable in his voice.

"Weapons are live and ready. If they try anything, it'll be the last thing they do."

Another beat.

"All systems green. Just waiting on your signal."

"It's good to hear your voice again." she would state, a hint of affection in her tone but not enough to be considered unprofessional. It had been some time since she had spoken with her sibling, though it was getting difficult to keep track of the still alive members of the twelve of them who had been raised together, especially with Manti's steadily growing repertoire of duties. "I'm unconcerned with the cowards, let them run. If they're running now I doubt they'd have been a threat to begin with."

She would squint at the holographic display in the center of the bridge, eyeing the various pinpoints of data about the moon. "All the intel I've received has indicated that their primary base of operations is hidden in this crater-" along with her words an image would be sent to the Oath of Iron detailing what exactly Manti was speaking of "bordering the north pole. We'll descend, deal with any ships that put up a resistence, board any that don't, then land troops from the Manticore's Wrath to capture the facility. Copy?"

Manti would shift as she waits for a reply, eager to fullfill their mission and test out the capabilities of the Keldabe-class her engineers had designed.

Jaikell's voice crackled through the comms-

"Copy loud and clear," he replied, his tone mirroring her professionalism, though a trace of warmth hinted through his words. "We've got eyes on your data-feed"

There was a pause as he reviewed the scan overlays and cross-checked them with his own crew's projections aboard the Oath of Iron.

A second later he says: "That sounds like a Plan,"
"Gonna show theses pirates why they shouldn't operate in mandalorian space"

The comms quieted, awaiting Manti's next order.

"Begin descent." she'd command as the flotilla would begin its journey to the target crater.

She'd shift in the captain's chair, already feeling antsy at the promise of combat. She had trained her life for the engage of blasterfire and the clashing of blades, it was the closest thing to a hobby she had. She reveled in it, perhaps too much for her own good. She had heard the Cathar were competant warriors and had taken the opportunity to test that rumor as soon as it had been offered to her. Perhaps that said something about her, but it wasn't something she was interested in exploring about herself, at least at this moment.

As the ships continued their descent her communications officer would approach "Alor'ad, we're detecting an Acclamator-class assault ship heading towards us. They're not answering our communications."

"Be advised. Enemy cruiser incoming." she'd bark to the rest of the flotilla "It's old, but it'll still pack a punch."

Jaikell's reply came almost immediately, the tension in his voice rising just enough to reflect the change in circumstance—battle readiness, not panic.

"Confirmed. Visual lock on the Acclamator, Looks like someone dug it out of a scrapyard and slapped on fresh plating. Doesn't matter." he says.

A murmur of orders could be heard in the background as he coordinated with his crew. "Bringing the Oath of Iron into a flanking position. Keep them focused on you. we'll be able to handle any fighters that come out of that rust bucket and take pot shots with our Torpedo Batteries but i definitely wouldn't wanna duel that thing alone."

He paused, then added grimly, "Its main guns may be outdated, but if they end up focusing on me or one of the other corvette's they'll still punch straight through a mid-deck. But that ship was built to land armies, not play chicken, if they're bringing it to bear, it's desperation or a distraction."

Another flicker of static as his command deck shifted under a minor course correction. "Either way, I'm not planning to let them dictate tempo. We'll hammer their flanks, strip their shielding, and box them in if they try to retreat."

There was a quiet intensity in his voice now—calculated and cold. "If they want to throw relics at us, fine. Let's remind them what happens when the past meets the present."

"At least they're not a well funded as I had assumed. If they're fishing in scrapyards for anything usable our intel might be off." While many might think this a good thing, Manti found it deeply concerning. What else had they been wrong about? Were these really just run-of-the-mill pirates? It was difficult to tell for certain but Manti knew that she had a job that needed doing.

With a spoke command the Manticore's Wrath would fire each of its Plasma Railguns. A second or two later three explosions of burning plasma would detonate over the Acclamator's shields, sticky burning plasma clinging to the deflectors and eating away at their power.

"That'll grab their attention." Manti would say over the intership communicator "Jaikell, if it looks like they're going to focus fire on you pull away. I'll try to keep their guns trained on us but there's no need to get you or your crew killed." And almost as if on que the Acclamator's turbolaser batteries would begin to light up the void, streaks of red hammering into the Manticore's Wrath's shields. Manti's ship would return fire as it continues to close the distance.

"I intend to go nose-to-nose with the rust bucket-" she'd cut out for a second as a well placed torpedo barrage would shake the bridge "Get close enough and the Manticore's Wrath can start sapping their shields."

Jaikell responded without hesitation, his tone tight with focus but carrying that dry Mandalorian humor that never seemed to dull in a firefight.

"Understood, Commander. We'll do just that" he says,

On the bridge of the Oath of Iron, Jaikell snapped orders to his gunners and helm. The corvette shifted position with practiced grace, veering out of the Acclamator's primary firing arc, hugging the engagement's edge while keeping its broadside anti-fighter batteries aimed toward the Acclamator as he moves towards the back end of the ship,

"Target any launches from the Acclamator's bay. Nothing gets out clean."

The Oath of Iron's defense's flared to life, firing at the enemy ship, while speeding towards it

"There's our trash," he muttered. "Burn it."

A volley of rounds met the fighters head-on, bursting one into Metal ruble and driving the other into a hard bank—right into the crosshairs of a second battery.

Jaikell keyed his comm again.

"That rust bucket's got teeth, Commander, but they're slow and sloppy. We'll close in and peel their wings off one by one."

Manti wouldn't flinch as the bridge shutters from the impact of turbolaser fire. The Manticore's Wrath dutifully closed the distance, too slowly Manti thought even if she knew she could barley grasp the real speed these two cruisers were maneuvering. It would be several excruciating seconds before Manti would give a lazy wave of the hand, a que the tactical officer had been waiting for.

The Acclamator's shields would begin to distort, then stretch, ultimately forming a cone which meets the Manticore's Wrath's bow. The shield-leech weapon was working as intended.

"Focus all batteries on their laser cannons."

Her command would be met with the roar of turbolaser batteries, overcharged by the shield-leech weapon, blasting the enemy Acclamator with everything they had. It would take only seconds for the antiquated shields to buckle then dissipate from the solution. The Manticore's Wrath's batteries hammering into the gunnery decks of the Acclamator, destroying rows of cannons. Several dozen torpedoes would be let loose, targeting other key systems.

"Alor'ad, it looks like we have several smaller craft breaking off from behind the Acclamator. It looks as if they were using it as a shield."

Manti would squint, her mind racing until her eyes would widen suddenly.

"Jaikell. From this distant I'm unable to detect if any of those are bomber wings, what do your sensors tell you?"
