STRENGTHS

• Shield Killer: The Round, upon making contact with an enemy shield, regardless of type, acts as a massive sponge to the enemy of the shield. It's internals leech energy from the shield at a rate that it may disrupt the field entirely, causing a feedback loop.
• Shield Breaker: Once the round has absorbed it's limit of energy, it then activates an explosive shape charge, that uses the absorbed energy to fuel a massive shape charge that is designed to disperse the energy outward, rather than towards the shield. Designed to prevent the shield from reabsorbing the energy, the function allows the round to prevent reproduction upon capture.

WEAKNESSES

• Lack of Penetration: The Thunderbolt is designed as a shield killer. Armor is not what it's designed to damage, let alone destroy.
• Size: While the rounds can be manufactured at a size for star-fighters and large vehicles, the round's shield leech weapon was unable to be miniaturized to the point of giving it to anything smaller than a tank crew.

DESCRIPTION
With engagement data from several engagements of the Dawn of Hope, Si Tech's lead designer spent the last few months trying to find a way to change how the Wild Space Rebellion engaged with fleets. The "Thunderbolt" round was the result, a shield leech round, that would first absorb the energy of the shields, then explode outward and away, allowing it to disperse the energy away from the target, disallowing it from reabsorbing it's own shields. While by no means a one hit kill for heavily shielded systems, repeated strikes from the round can strip even the largest shield generators of power with focused fire.
