Faction [WSR] Sigh of Relief

All it takes is a Spark

Sigh of Relief
Following the attack on the Imperial Fleet, The Dawn of Hope retreats south to the rally point, the abandoned base of the Tingle Arm Coalition, once home to Jedi Temple. With the Dawn of Hope high above, the personnel of the fleet, rebel fighters and jedi alike, take a moment to recollect. The Rebellion's minds meet once to more to discuss it, and the now weeklong siege of Kessel, to figure out how to act next.

Objective One:
Rebel Tactics
The heads of the Rebellion meet in the Dawnbreaker II, to discuss the ongoing operations, and the future of the Rebellion. Should the future be dictated by the heads of the military, or should a government be established? The guillotine hangs high, and who's head it will fall on to lead the way is still up in the air.

z5cR1Ol.png

Objective Two:
Birth of the Bokken
Jedi Master Jonyna Si had long been a drifter in the rebellion. The one who started it, and yet refused to lead it. With more and more jedi arriving to follow her example of hitting back at the imperials and sith, Jonyna saw it fit to open the door to start what she should've properly a long time ago.

An order of Bokken.

A turn used for jedi trained outside of the traditional order, now used to describe what would become the rebellion's jedi sect. An order born out of battle, born to train not scholars and sages, but warriors and rebels. But what will be what defines this order? That is to be seen. As Jonyna calls for a gathering in the old Hurikane Temple, tonight is the night we find out.

The old temple was now falling apart. What had been the home of the Tingle Arm Coalition, was now a ruin of it's former self. Nature had began to reclaim the structure.

Jonyna wouldn't have it any other way.

She sat at the stone table, meditating in patience for when the others would arrive. Behind her, her trio of chaos played. To set a tone.

Do Good, even when it is inconvenient.
Protect the Innocent, for you are their shield.
Fight Evil where it stands, with both kindness and fury.
Above all else, survive. You are one of few. Do not let the Light die out.

That had been her own personal code for longer than she had come out of the ice. She had set it aside during her time in the NJO, but no longer. Now, she wanted it to be the code of whom she taught. Whom she stood alongside.

Objective 2

The Galactic Alliance had fallen but there were still pockets of rebellion that still burn bright in the corners of a broken core. Jax Thio walked inside of the Old Temple of what was left of an old rebellion faction called the Tingle Arm Collation. Two years ago, the TAC waged a bloody war against an Imperial Faction called the: The Empire of the Lost. The Collation fought valiantly even killing the Empire's Emperor but the EOTL's forces were overwhelming, and it didn't take long for the Tingle Arm Collation to fall. Jax heard that the Empire of the Lost also committed numerous atrocities to the people Lothal after the battle. Scores of civilians were slaughtered mercilessly with the planet being on lockdown under the new Empress.

That was two years ago though and the Empire of the Lost was long gone replaced by a more stable Imperial Faction. Yet the ghosts of the TAC still linger and Jax was determined to make sure that this rebellion however small it would be successful. As Jax walked towards the stone table, he spotted an old friend sitting down pensive. "Master Jonya," Jax waved to the Cathar. "It's been sometime. I hope I didn't arrive too late. I didn't want to miss out on the refreshments."

Ran reflected on the code the Jedi Master Jonyna Si had put before her and others. It was as good a code as any. Easy to follow, easy to practice, and easy to share. It left little to interpret, and little question as to the Cathar Jedi Master's purpose in this galaxy. Ran couldn't help but question if it was a code to be adopted by all, although she knew it as one she could adopt herself. So as she walked the halls of the overgrown Hurikane Temple she decided now was the time to make the choice and answer the question. Should I join this rebellion?

Ran had stayed far from rebellion before. Her past pushed her away from those continuing wars, yet still her life remained full of conflict as she fought her own battles for what she believed was right. In those small private skirmishes, she found the will to fight again. She found the warrior she was always meant to be, and folded it into the pacifist she had become.

The Mirialan Jedi Master arrived at the heart of the temple, taking a seat at the same stone table at which Jonyna sat. She gave a simple nod to Master Thio, then another to Master Si. "Ho'era" She acknowledged with a small smile, and waited for this assembly of minds and masters to begin.

As the two jedi masters joined her, Jonyna let out a breath.

She had been worried it would be padawans, begging for guidance. She knew a few knights were around, but having three masters meant they would have a foundation beyond herself.

"Sister." Jonyna spoke back to Ran with a smile. To see her again, now standing beside her, was reassuring. Jax was a strange addition, one that Jonyna was unfamiliar with. But, that was always how it was meant to be. The renegades, the oddballs. That's who she was looking for. Not the old guard that had once dictated jedi philosophy.

"I'm glad to see you two. Today, we decide what the Bokken order will stand for. I have laid out my code, the code I stood for when I was a rebel. But I'm not so proud as to call it perfect. Today we open the floor for anyone to critique it. Be honest, be brutal as you need to be. I want this to be an order of the people in it, not those who loomed over us for the last few centuries. No more Skywalkers, no more Kenobis. Our beliefs will come out of this room, not whatever came before."

Ran regarded Jonyna's words with a pursing of her lips as she considered their meaning. The prospect of a new code born for another generation of Jedi was an intriguing one. The Mirialan looked to Master Thio for an inkling of his reaction. Her own was that of curiosity and interest, with just a hint of skepticism. Ran had been an archivist and a lore master at one time. While she understood Jonyna wanted to depart from the failures of past orders, she also understood the Cathar didn't want to disavow the past completely. Skywalker and Kenobi were just prominent names in ancient Jedi History as far as Ran was concerned, but she knew for her Jedi sister that history wasn't so ancient, nor were the effects those names had upon it.

"I see no problem with moving forward. The Jedi have seen several eras of rebirth, and with each one an evolution. Changes and divergences. The Bokken Order will be no different, except in the ways in which it is,"

Ran straightened. "This code of yours. I see very little I disagree with. My only reservation is with the inclusion of fury. For Jedi, Bokken or not, that fury- that use of violent anger is a step on the path to the darkside," Ran said absolutely.

"Passion, I believe, is a good substitute. We all have it, good and evil. Passion is a part of most sentient existence. Without it we would not fight for what we believe to be right or moral or just. Passion is strong but as Jedi we learn and train to control and direct our passions to keep us from the fall that so many Jedi have experienced. The fall that so many full of anger and fury take."

Ran looked Jonyna in the eyes as she spoke, and didn't look away until she made her point.

"Bokken order?" Jax raised an eyebrow. "Never heard of a term like that before but given the state of the Galaxy, it's probably best to use a less common name given that once again claiming to be a Jedi is equivalent to painting a target on your back."

He knew that rebellions were never pretty. People remember the Luke Skywalkers or the Han Solos of the rebellion romanticizing their endeavors, but they never focused on the sacrifices that the rebels or even the exiled Jedi made to take on the Empire. Especially the morally questionable ones. "At the beginning of the Great Hyperspace War," Jax said. "The New Jedi Order questioned the length that they were willing to go to fight the Sith. Hell, the council and the Jedi were at odds at each other over the war crimes committed. True or otherwise."

The Jedi Master shook his head. "Rebellions are never pretty," Jax said. "The reason why I left the NJO was because the war took a mental toll on me. Jedi are more..... sensitive to the violence around them and we can't forget about the cost of fighting."

As much as fighting hurt Jax, he couldn't help but enjoy it...... the thrill, the brush with death. It excited and terrified Jax. A Jedi who has a gift for violence...... As much as Jairdain Ismet-Thio Jairdain Ismet-Thio wanted to deter Jax away from it, he couldn't resist the urge to fight. Especially after his failure at Coruscant. "The Alliance has fallen," Jax said. "But we need to do our part and pick up the pieces. We'll need to learn from our mistakes, but we cannot forget who we are at the end of the day. We're Jedi: Protectors of life."

"Bokken is a term once used for people like me." Jonyna started off, pulling her white bladed katana from it's sheath, and putting it on the table. "Those trained outside of the halls of the temple, not through tradition, but through hardship. Through whatever table scraps we could find in a galaxy that hunted us. While we're by no means in the same galaxy that was once ruled by the Empire, with the Alliance gone, that feeling is the same. We're on our own now. That's Bokken."

Jonyna let out a sigh, as she turned to Ran.

"When that code was made, it was made by my mother, who was not just a jedi who had abandoned the order to return home and start a family, but had been a Shadow before that. The way I see it, what we're going to have to do, what we're going to have to ask people to do, is going to be a delicate walk of treading closer than ever before to the path to the Dark Side. Jax is right. Rebellions are never pretty. But..."

She looked to the sword, a blade she had crafted herself from the bones of the Clone Wars. A blade made from scrap from the battle of Geonosis, now reforged several times over into a blade for fighting more than just stormtroopers and Inquisitors.

"You're right as well. We need to set an example. Perhaps Fury isn't the right word, but I find Passion not as suited for what we need to do. We need something to rally us. The goal is, should be, to fight unending. To understand that the goal of the rebellion is freedom for all beings, and that a fight such as that isn't something we can do without tapping into emotions much stronger than those the jedi usually preaches."

Jonyna though for a moment, closing her eyes and reaching through her own memory.

A word stuck out.

"My crew. Before I came out of the ice, we called ourselves something. Named our ship after it, our rebel cell. I think it fits. Not Fury, not Passion, but..."

"Tenacity."
