  • Dark Resonance Detonation Core: At its heart lies a resonance chamber containing a tuned Darksurge Capacitor Core that stores volatile ion energy interlaced with compressed psychic dissonance. Upon detonation, it emits a burst of high-intensity ion disruption capable of frying fighter-scale avionics while simultaneously unleashing a pulse of agony-inducing pressure into nearby minds.
  • Psychic Disruption Wavefield: The mine generates a momentary, localized field that sends false sensory data, fear triggers, and auditory illusions through both organic and machine perception systems. This creates a wave of tactical chaos among nearby enemy pilots and command nodes, reducing formation integrity and increasing susceptibility to follow-up attacks.
  • Shrouded Casing: Etched with glyphic interference patterns, it renders the mine passively silent to most conventional sensors, masking its signature as ambient stellar noise.

  • Dual Disruption Capability: The mine is highly effective in neutralizing both mechanical and psychological aspects of its targets. The ion detonation temporarily disables propulsion, shields, and sensors, while the psychic pulse disorients pilots, often triggering panic, auditory hallucinations, or hesitation at critical moments.
  • Area Denial Efficiency: Once deployed, a field of Wraithshock Mines can dominate critical space lanes, asteroid fields, or sensor corridors. Even if the mines are not triggered, the potential for sudden disorientation or shutdown compels enemy pilots to alter their approach vectors or risk ambush.
  • Ideal for Hit-and-Fade Tactics: The temporary shutdown caused by the blast creates ideal conditions for Kainate forces to disengage or close in for rapid elimination. It fits perfectly into ambush, retreat, or psychological warfare doctrines.

  • Ineffective Against Capital-Scale Systems: The energy output and psychic broadcast are optimized for fighter-scale targets or small transports and other smaller ships. Heavily shielded capital ships are typically unaffected by the mine's full effect beyond minor sensor interference.
  • Force Nullification: The resonance core and illusion broadcast require a minimum level of dark side saturation to function properly. Under Force Nullification, the mine's secondary effects are inert, and it functions solely as a conventional ion charge.

The Wraithshock Proximity Mine Mk. I was developed by the Kainate in response to a growing need for battlefield control tools that could undermine the increasing reliance on sensor-linked, high-speed fighter squadrons. Built from the dark science labs within Malsheem, the mine reflects a hybridization of Sith warfare philosophy and advanced engineering. Where others deployed mines to damage hulls, the Wraithshock was forged to fracture enemy perception and sever the cohesion of swarming enemies.

It detonates not only with an ion shock meant to cripple fighter systems, but with a blaring psychic scream, one that claws through the senses of enemy pilots and AI-linked systems alike. No ordinary jamming signal, this effect forces hesitation and breaks formations. Cloaked in passive concealment and difficult to detect until it is already triggered, the Wraithshock is a surgical scalpel embedded within a sea of space, striking fear and failure into the hearts of enemies with no warning.

This mine represents the Sith philosophy of control through fear and confusion, rather than brute strength alone. Where massed cannons might fail, terror and overload succeed. Yet, despite its lethality, the mine is not without flaw, it is susceptible to Force Nullification interference, weak against capital-scale defenses. Still, deployed with precision, it is one of the most insidious tools in the Kainate's arsenal of sensor warfare and area denial.
