It was quiet in the space over Rendili, and yet around that space above the planet's active shipyards was a
buzz of movement. All around the shipyards and further out within the range of the world there were ships bustling back and forth. Something actually not uncommon around the world whose shipbuilding facilities were among the most renown in the galaxy. A world who's docks contained one of the famed founding shipwrights, and who held a noted history as an original member of the first galactic Republic, was quite busy most days as tourists and clientele swarmed the planet to purchase a vessel or put their ship to port on this world in the core.
However, it wasn't the bustle of civilian ships for business or travel that was odd. No instead it was the ships of Rendili's Home Defense Fleet moving about, all of them active for some reason, that was out of the ordinary. Yet they caused no alarm, nor did they seem in position for an attack on the world itself. There was a good reason for that, and that was because despite being a border world for the Republic in the current day and age, the other galactic power they bordered was currently at peace with the Republic. The real reason for the mustered Defense Fleet, and especially for its mustering out of proper patrol pattern and position, was because there was to be joint combat exercises with the Republic Fleet positioned in the sector. And their target was one of Rendili's smaller space docks, a shipyard facility smaller than the main yards over the planet, yet still large enough to help field, build, and facilitate a number of vessels. However, because it was an excess facility it was mostly unmanned as the main yards, whose frames and berths can still handle destroyer class vessels and larger, handle most business since Rendili Stardrive has not commanded full focus from galactic intrigue in a while.
Drifting through space with the planet in the backdrop was the flagship for these exercises, one of the four Dreadnought Cruisers under the Fleet's command, headed by Captain Camellia Alexis Swift, ranking officer and CEO of Rendili Stardrive itself since her grandfather's passing. Her vessel, along with another of the Dreadnought Cuisers, hung near the Space Dock itself acting as its defenders. Along with them were two dozen, or twenty four (24) F-18 Pillar Starfighters, as were a pair of surprises, all these being outside detection range of distant fleets. The other two Dreadnought Cruiser hung in space flanked by three Hammerhead Frigates each, the Aurek Strike Interceptor Compliments of the Hammerhead's still in their hanger bays to conserve fuel. Four remaining Hammerheads glided through space together, their hangers containing a mix of an Aurek squadron, an F-18 squadron, and a squadron of F-21 Galaxy Guard bombers, this group falling off to the side as a support group ready to move forward into any trouble spot, though out of site and scanner range of fleets far out.
Joining in the patrols were two Praetorian Corvettes, settling the furthest out, likely the first vessels to be seen or detected by intruders of Rendili's space, but also the most adept at discovering said intruders before they entered range of Rendili's facilities with their advanced sensor suites. Each had their four F-18 Pillar starfighters deployed as escorts in their patrol patterns, making wide sweeps over the outer ring of Rendili's defenses, whereas the Dreadnought Cruisers and the Hammerheads with them had a slower sweep halfway between the Praetorian's patterns and the target Space Dock.
Outside of all of this behind the Space Dock lay a Shield Class Medical Frigate of the RHDF as well, acting as an emergency vessel for the drills in case pilots became injured due to malfunctions in equipment. Though with all weapons set to minimal settings to merely tag ships and register enough to note their type and the damage they'd do in the simulation until a target was destroyed, no one would likely be truly hurt unless a collision occurred. With this all in place Camellia Swift stared out over her fleet once more for who knows how many times since the message the exercise would take place had reached her. In all honesty she hoped it would come soon, not because she thought little of the mock battle's usefulness, she was just concerned that should someone note the lack of proper positioning for the RHDF they may take advantage to cause trouble. She didn't want pirates or terrorists, or force forbid the Sith or another galactic power invading or taking advantage of the drill to move in while the defense fleet was in position for an exercise to cause the least amount of disturbance to civilians.

Thus being mostly in disuse, though maintained for the possibility of such, no business or people would be bothered with it being unavailable during the fleeting exercise. Still, the Rendili Home Defense Fleet would have an unfair advantage knowing any details outside the drill being conducted and the way to perform it without causing alarm to civilians or disrupting the world's infrastructure. As such the RHDF thus far only has had the ability to reorganize its forces position to act as if the target smaller yards were the normal yards that might come under attack from a real enemy. Its patrols kept the same, just moved over to avoid being in the way of the populace.
