The Imperial Commonwealth of Dosuun has received consolidated reports from its survey and reconnaissance teams operating in the Bakura system.

The world once celebrated in archives and galactic commerce is not gone, but it is irrevocably scarred.

Vast regions of Bakura remain ashen wastelands, remnants of the previous regimes' assaults, and destruction of the worlds' resources. Entire population centers lie half-melted and wind-scoured, their skeletal towers standing as monuments to a punishment that was meant to be remembered.

Yet the planet is not uniformly dead.

A fortified metropolitan enclave endures, shielded and self-sustaining, home to Bakura's wealthiest survivors and those who aligned themselves with successive occupying authorities. Beyond its perimeter, fragile recovery belts struggle to reclaim arable land and restore infrastructure.

The remainder of the planet, the so-called Ash Zones, have devolved into salvage territories, pirate havens, and black-market strongholds.

The system's primary hypergate is non-functional. Components have been stripped over the years for barter and survival. Orbital control is fragmented.

Bakura does not lack life.
It lacks stability.

Securing the world will require more than occupation. The Commonwealth must first secure the system, neutralize hostile elements, and determine whether Bakura seeks liberation… or merely another master.

OBJECTIVE

Commonwealth Fleet Command is tasked with establishing uncontested orbital control of the Bakura system. Fleet and aerospace elements will conduct active patrols and engage pirate forces, raiders, and other hostile irregulars operating along hyperspace vectors and within key debris fields. Engineering corps will secure and assess the damaged hypergate to determine restoration feasibility and prevent further sabotage. Intelligence and reconnaissance teams will reinforce current agents planetside, survey hostile activity across Ash Zones and recovery regions, and identify any lingering Remnant or external influence. Phase I focuses on stabilization and containment, securing the system before any sustained planetary operations commence.

Fleet & Aerospace Elements
Hypergate Assessment & Engineering Corps
Intelligence & Reconnaissance Divisions
Civilian Stabilization Preparatory Phase
All fleet captains, task group commanders, and aerospace wings are authorized to:
  • Conduct patrol sweeps across key hyperspace ingress vectors.
  • Identify and eliminate pirate flotillas operating in-system.
  • Interdict black-market convoys and salvage operations.
  • Secure orbital debris fields and former defense platforms.
  • Clear and hold the primary hypergate perimeter.
The Bakura hypergate remains non-functional. Preliminary scans indicate:
  • Structural degradation.
  • Component stripping for civilian salvage.
  • Possible sabotage during prior conflicts.
Existing Commonwealth agents operating planetside are to be:
  • Located.
  • Reinforced.
  • Relieved where necessary.
Pending orbital security:
  • Prepare relief supply manifests.
  • Identify safe landing corridors.
  • Assess medical response capacity for Ash Zone populations.

MAJ Domar, Avril-1

Preliminary intelligence reports suggest special caution when on patrol near the Shiritoku Way. Convoys have gone missing or their carcasses were left drifitng in space. Command attributes it to pirates near an un-policed, low priority hyperlane. Even so, Domar would not allow even a small pocket of chaos in the Commonweath borders. Avril Squadron was deployed to the Bakura system as a patrol squadron, though their true mission was to solidify dominance upon this part of the aforementioned hyperlane.

Utilizing his advanced sensor suite, Domar began tracking down the mysterious forces plaguing the hyperlane. The trace lead Avril squadron away from Bakura. The squadron fought better on their own, free to their own vices and tactics.

"Avril squadron, form up. Think we will get some light action today. Normal pirate trash says the intel, though no confirmed reports. Stay on protocol unless told otherwise."

Bakuran Campaign
Task Force Valiant
DCV Valiant

Captain Rowyna Galeway monitored communications as various forces from the Imperial Commonwealth of Dosuun dropped from hyperspace and reverted to real space around the Bakuran System. The Commonwealth had but a single goal, secure the Bakuran Hypergate. The goal itself was simple but to achieve it required a multifaceted strike plan and coordination. This included liberating the void around the world. Freeing it from vagrants, pirates and other unfortunate lot to be in the Commonwealth's way.

Task Force Heramases had already begun operations, the carrier-heavy group had launched its fighters. Task Force Valiant would follow up with its own firepower. Added to Valiant's forces were the new Seawolves, and an additional Wolfpack, designated Wolfpack Blue.

The Berceys, DCV Cassandra and Couatl were just ahead of her formation. An operations officer alerted that the task force would be dropping from hyperspace soon. Captain Galeway gave a nod of acknowledgment, she approached the comms console, and politely accessed the fleet-wide channel. "All hands, this is Captain Rowyna Galeway, assuming control as Fleet Captain. All battleships and stations, go to red alert upon revision into real space." A brief pause. "Secure the Bakuran system." The line went dead, silence filled the space as Galeway took a step back.

The Seawolves known in her formation as DCV Blackfin and Bashaw were to be tested, Defender-types were the label, with an array of weaponry to test upon the ill-gotten ways of those the Commonwealth had today, deemed, an enemy. Upon revision to real space, the massive task force went about its operations, "confirm all fleet elements in system, once confirmation is received. Ardent and Acheron you are to lock this system, nothing goes in and nothing goes out." Her orders were clear, voice composed with her hands at her back as the viewscreen displayed the fight in progress.

"All Wolfpacks, Couatl, Cassandra fan out begin data and survey collection, all carriers begin deployment, Daggers execute formation Kalast-Seven-Seven-Four." Galeway now near a tactical map gave her orders, her peripheral vision occasionally catching the view screen as she stood perpendicular to it. The Daggers aligned themselves in a pointed formation ahead of the Cimmerian-class DCV Valiant. "Mukhtiars, begin screening, Beckwith-Nine-Two-Seven." The ships acknowledged and moved parallel to one another two above, two below as they swiftly moved to screen out incoming missiles and starfighters.

Her orders continued on, with the Seawolves pressing forward with the Mukhtiars, the Daggers in formation as the Task Force moved through the system. Engaging with aforementioned oppositional elements. The Kimbrells held back with the Sondheimers, starfighters, and Wolfpack Red hung back to ensure elements to the rear were secure. Lasers and turbolasers criss-crossed the otherwise abyssal void. Stars twinkling in twilight, bearing witness to the cacphony of violence that now stood within Bakura's wake once again.

MAJ DOMAR, AVRIL-1

Domar led his squadron across the stars, searching for a band of rogues that have been preying upon civilian vessels in the area. They are quick and quiet enough to have flown under the radar up until recently. Many others would prefer something more glorious. Domar had an itch for pirate hunting. Avril Squadron was on approach to their last known location. A freighter was left in pieces near Bakura-5s moon. Clearly torn apart by some crude weaponry.

Domar tapped into his elite sensor systems, attempting to track down the pirates. Discreet traces of emissions were found, enough to start a trace. This lead Avril squadron to the far side of the moon. "Based on energy signatures, this must be where they await their targets. Hit them from this side of the moon, won't see them coming until it's too late. We will have to set a trap. First, we will need bait. Contact the Heramses. See if they can spot us a freighter or some such."

Avril Squadron set up for an ambush while the message was sent back to the task force. Avril leveraged great favor among the Commonwealth fleet. Whatever they requested, they were approved for. A freighter would be dispatched in due time, loaded to the brim with supposed cargo.

The stars around Bakura were wrong, Dal thought as she sat in the Firestrike. Everything felt off, the void wasn't nearly as dark as it should be, and not nearly as quiet.

Where there should have been clean hyperspace traffic lanes and a functioning hypergate, there was instead a graveyard of broken metal and drifting wreckage. Fractured superstructure from the destroyed gate spun slowly in orbit, casting long shadows across the debris fields. Smaller pieces, cargo containers, hull plating, and shattered antennae, floated like a cloud of metallic ash.

Perfect places to hide.

Inside the cockpit of her interceptor, Lieutenant Dalyeon Shin leaned forward slightly in her seat as the Firestrike's sensors swept the debris field for the fourth time.

The ISF-44 Firestrike was not a new craft. Not even close.

Pilots in the Commonwealth joked that the interceptor was older than half the people flying it. In reality, it was older than damn near everyone in the entire Starfighter Corps. A relic inherited from the First Order, fast and dangerous but long since surpassed by newer starfighters being fielded across the galaxy.

Dalyeon, though, she loved it.

The cockpit was tight, the controls responsive in a way newer craft rarely were with all their new fancy gizmos. When the Firestrike's engines opened up, it moved like a blade through water cutting cleanly across the void.

Her squadron icon, a stylized white tiger, inspired by Seoul's Tigerkin, sat just below the forward canopy frame.

Baekho Squadron, the Fighting Tigers.

Twelve interceptors had descended from the DCV King Heramses and were currently spread across the shattered perimeter of the hypergate, running a patrol pattern through the drifting wreckage.

Her comm crackled.

"Baekho Lead to patrol elements. Maintain spacing. Debris density increasing near the central ring."

Dalyeon flicked a switch and nudged the interceptor's control yoke. The Firestrike adjusted its vector smoothly, thrusters firing in brief controlled bursts as she threaded between two slowly rotating sections of durasteel. Dal was officially Baekho-11, callsign... "Ember copies." She was the last one to answer.

Her amber eyes flicked across the sensor display. Most of the debris was exactly what command expected. Broken infastructure, scrap, occassionally a drifting shuttle or transport stripped down to its skeleton by scavengers. Yet... Something else flickered across her scope.

A movement that didn't match the slow drift of orbital wreckage. Dalyeon frowned slightly. She ran the scan again, there.

Three returns, small, moving. She focused on them for a moment, the movement was deliberate, with purpose as each blip moved. Her finger hovered over the comm.

"Baekho Lead," she said camly, "this is Ember, I've got intermitten contacts in the gate debris. Bearing zero-two-eight. Range twelve klicks."

A pause, then a response over encrypted channels. "Copy Ember, might just be scav drones, maintain patrol, we'll get there."

She sighed, and exhaled. Dal titled her head slightly as she watched the contacts again. They seemed a little too big to just be drones, even scav ones. No, these were a little too fast, and coordinated to be just drones. A raised brow as the blips moved toward the formation.

Oh... She thought, a small smirk appeared on her face. "Lead," Dal said, a little too politely, "those contacts are burning engines."

Another pause.

"Ember, hold, your position," Baekho Lead's orders were stern.

Dal watched the three blips splinter off and then dive deeper into the debris field. Her hand had already moved to the throttle. "Oh, okay lead, copy that..."

The Firestrike's engines whined as power surged through the interceptor.

The interceptor lunged forward, streaking into the broken skeleton of the hypergate as starlight flashed across the cockpit canopy. A smile crept across her face as the three blips' signature came back as known pirates, "correction Lead, Ember is intercepting."

A groan could be heard over comms, "damn it Ember!"

Baekho squadron fired up right on her tail as she zeroed in on a target. Dal armed the Firestrike's cannons. "Ember!" Lead's voice could be heard barking through the comms, "Ember! For once in your goddamn life can you think before you leap?!"

"Uh..."
She responded with a smirk as her targeting reticle locked onto the first fleeing contact, "about that."

The sound of the alert could be heard in her cockpit as a warhead was fired off from her Firestrike. "Fox one, away."

Jester Squadron Patch

Kurayami had taken the time during the journey to finish some final tuning on the TIE 'Huxian's' systems, making sure that everything was perfectly set for the upcoming mission. "R6, check turret rotation among all axes for all weapons. Make sure that functionality is not hampered in either convergence or independent targeting modes. simulate targeting and tracking multiple targets, one per turret, unpredictable flight pattern." The droid gave a beep in the affirmative from inside the craft and as if on their own the turrets began to orbit, tracking invisible targets, before moving to focus on a singular point once more, and continuing to move in perfect synchronicity. "Everything checks out on that front, shut down the simulation and run checks on engines, ECM, and ECCM." Another set of beeps confirmed that the droid was doing exactly as told. As the reversion to realspace happened another set of beeps confirmed all systems were green. Kurayami climbed into the cockpit and contacted flight control requesting departure permission. Upon receiving confirmation he slowly advanced the throttles and exited the hangar.

He angled toward the hypergate, engaging the stealth systems as he left the shadow of the larger ship's sensor profile. For now he would rely mostly on the Force and passive sensors to provide a picture of the battlefield beyond the cockpit. The fighter wove through the the debris field leaving no trace that it had ever been there. Switching to an encrypted Commonwealth channel, he watched as an old model interceptor started a burn to intercept and ended up firing a warhead at one of three fighters that had setup an ambush.

Powering up the sensors and weapons systems he locked on to the fighter in the trail position opening fire, bracketing the fighter with searing, kyber enhanced laser fire as the TIE fighter decloaked and came into view.
[[::This is Jester 1, here for fire support and to help clear out the bandits around the hypergate.::]] Kurayami left the channel open as he wove around and through, bursts of fire clearing smaller chunks of debris from his path as he moved to flank, providing cover for Ember as he did.

The Commonwealth Navy was a stunning thing to behold. Although Bella knew that she was but one tiny component in the vast operation, she could not hold back the pride and awe flushing her cheeks as she watched the ships of Task Force Valiant revert into realspace through her electroscopes. For her own part in it, the Togruta was flying as Jester One’s wingmate, tasked with identifying and eliminating pirate assets within the vicinity of the hypergate. Thus, shifting her attention back to her readouts and the sensor data flowing into her awareness through the Ghost Link, Bella followed a few seconds behind Jester One’s wake as he wove his heavily armed advanced interceptor through the debris field towards the hypergate.

“Lagging a few seconds behind you, Jester One.” Bella reported into their shared encrypted comm channel, informing him of the gap. It was then that her sensor readout went off as he engaged one of the contacts deep within the gate debris. Her tattooed brows shot up her forehead then, and she immediately goosed the throttle, intent upon closing the gap to form up on Kurayami Bloodborn Kurayami Bloodborn ’s wing.

“I’m reading triple engine signatures on those contacts.” Bella said as she zoomed in her electroscopes towards the contacts for a clearer view, her eyes narrowing as she studied their silhouettes. “They’re Cumulus-classes!” She exclaimed after a brief pause. “They’ll have newer models lying in wait deeper inside the field. These might be bait.”

Avril squadron lied in wait, eager to engage in some action against pirates, but forced to remain still. Domar stayed vigilant and kept his eyes on his sensors. He would not allow anything to surprise him. Neither would any pilot in Avril squadron.

"Sir," Domar's wingman came over the comms. "Baekho has engaged enemy forces. Shall we assist?" they asked.

"Negative. We have our mission, they have theirs. Where's my damn freighter?!" Domar barked.

At that moment, a blip came up on Domar's sensor suite. A chirp came from the holoprojector. Domar pressed a button on the projector and a holo of a Commonwealth officer. "Avril, your decoy has arrived. Entering your AO now." A light freighter came into view. It was junky, clearly something that had been through a few fights, but it was enough to draw in the pirates. Scanners could easily pick up a hefty cargo load onboard.

"About time. Avril out." The holo disappeared and, suddenly, more blips started to appear coming from the surface of the nearby moon. "I count 6 moving targets. And they're moving fast. Be ready to intercept. Enga-"

An explosion rocked the Gaya, completely catching Avril squadron off guard. Something attacked them from below. From the surface of the moon.
