ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Modified Yammosk: The Derriphan contains multiple modified Yammosk biots that assist with the operation and guiding of its internal systems. As a creature of biochemical origin, this comes in the form of the release and modification of chemical substances, regulating them in such ways to accomplish efficient operation. It also enhances the way the Derriphan processes information, identification of foes and threat assessment. Additionally, the Yammosk allows the Derriphan to attempt to seize control over other organisms.

This works the best on Yuuzhan Vong and its many affiliated creatures. But its souped-up nature also allows it to influence and manipulate weak-willed sentients. This can range from bad dreams, to psychosis and even outright mind domination. This is most effective over a prolonged amount of time.

Endless Hunger: The Derriphan’s main purpose is to devour just as its name suggests. The interesting part is what happens when it consumes things. Rather than simply disappear? The organic behemoth stores genetic makeup, conserving that which it eats. There seems to be no real limit to how much it can store.

But internally the organic star dreadnaught has numerous (strange) laboratories, data banks and other scientific facilities. A Yuuzhan Vong would be right at home amidst the organic construct. It can recreate what it has stored, but this is very limited and is mostly done for research purposes.

Planetary Sculpture: Through expulsion of gas and liquids it is capable of substantially changing climate and terrain of the world it is on. This is a process that takes a lot of time and energy though. Hence it can only do this when its left alone. During combat this is out of the question. Given enough time and material the Derriphan can change a planet's atmosphere and climate to some extreme degrees. Theoretically it could turn Tatooine back into a tropical paradise like it was before. It would have made the last restoration of Dromund Kaas far easier as well.

Sight: As an amalgamation of the Force and organic technology the Derriphan can sense things through the Force. This means that to some degree it can penetrate cloaking mechanics. If there are organics on the cloaked ship, it will be aware of their presence. Though perhaps won't be able to pinpoint them accurately, unless the population of organics is substantial enough.

Strengths:

  • Additional benefits. Has a number of interesting properties crafted specifically into it by Cerbera and Vain. See above for the specifics.
  • Powerful defenses and armament. Can dish out a lot of pain and tank it as well.
Weaknesses:
  • Maneuverability. Less capable in changing directions accounting to its large mass.
  • Limited Hangar. Comparing to other ships of its class, it has a minimum amount of support craft.
  • Lightside. Created through a combination of the Darkside, can be wounded or weakened by strong displays of the Light.
  • Force-Null Fields. Neutralizes many of its additional strengths. It can no longer detect organics through the Force, for instance, becomes more sluggish and less capable.
  • Hyperdrive. The customized nature of its dovin basal propulsion have left the Derriphan more vulnerable to interdiction fields. Rather than simply make it unable to slip into hyperspace, it actually lowers its ability to maneuver in space even more. Both Speed and Maneuverability gain a -1 modifier on its rating. Given enough time the Derriphan could counter-act this and restore its original efficiency, but every minute counts in space.
DESCRIPTION
The Wo Derriphan is the end result of a longstanding career in alchemy and bio-chemistry.

The expertise of Cerbera and Doctor Vain allowed them to create something truly special. An organic star behemoth, crafted through a combination of the Darkside and Bio-Tech, to take the best of both worlds. Taking inspiration from the Yuuzhan Vong of old, the starship is wholly organic in nature and even sentient to some degree. It lives. Thinks. Even manages to experience certain feelings. In this the Derriphan is clearly an idea of Cerbera.

She was never much interested in creating a big gun that drifts through space.

Tacky and ultimately a waste of expenses as far as Cerbera was concerned.

Instead? The Derriphan is a cataloger. A creation of ultimate scientific pursuit. What it eats, it preserves in its vast databanks allowing for later study. Furthermore it can change the ecological structure around itself given enough time. Making worlds more or less pleasant. To round it off it has a certain... influence over weaker-willed organics. From nightmares to outright control, it has more danger in store than simple huge mandibles. Most of its needs center around the hunt. Devouring that which comes before it. Its design is very well-suited for that indeed.

Because?

This is one hungry boi.

[member="Cerbera"], the excel guide sheet is not ultimate reference for balance, that's why it has this preface:

Chaos References Note: These are here for guidance purposes. Hard limits and development guidance is provided in the template itself. The exchange tables are provided to guide you in customizing a ship from one of the basic examples to add unique weapon load-outs.
This is what the template states for the hyperdrives of all capital ships:
Hyperdrive Class: (The lower the number, the faster the ship. You may use decimals. [Very Slow: 10 | Average: 2 | Very Fast: 0.3] Going below 1 typically requires balancing out with other weaknesses. Links: Hyperdrive, Hyperdrive Comparisons)
Ultimately, I'll stamp it if you don't want to edit, but if I face this in combat, I also wouldn't hesitate to report it either.

I think it is rather odd to have an intent to report something, before it is actually abused. Especially when the hyperdrive rating is a flavor one that has little bearing on combat effective and PVP, when distance and travel time have never really been scrutinized on the board. But I will chalk that up to a difference in opinion on how the report system should be utilized in these sort of situations.

Hyperdrive.
I added this weakness to balance out the fast hyperdrive. Let me know if you need anything more.
