OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: I wanted to make a sith acolyte/apprentice who uses Blasters and I’m a little too eager in making reasons why.
  • Image Credit: Pinterest + Pinterest
  • Canon: No

  • GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Name: Songful Ones
  • Designation: Sentient.
  • Origins: Extra-Galactic
  • Average Lifespan: [ In standard years. An average age or range is required. ]
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: The Songful Ones are a tall, thick-set species with dark eyes of either white or brown/black pupils. Instead of feet and hands, they have slightly curbed stumps and are bald.

    • Breathes: Type I.
    • Average Height of Adults: 2.2 metres.
    • Average Length of Adults: [ In metric. If not applicable put N/A. ]
    • Skin color: White - Grey - Blue
    • Hair color: N/A

    • Distinctions:
    • [blue]Mouths: Both races of the Songful Ones have small holes for mouths, incapable of fitting pieces of food much larger than a crumb, necessitating that they consume only liquids. They are however capable of very expressive whistling range far beyond that of a human’s capacity. They cannot speak the common language, necessitating translators in order to speak with others.

    • [*]Powerful Builds: There are no fat Songful Ones. Due to their planets’ high gravity, they are on average more physically powerful than humans as a baseline. They often have thick-set legs and/or arms, their muscle and fat being intertwined, turning into Pink Muscle. They have both the stamina of red muscle and the explosive strength of white muscle. This, of course, means that when they DO run out of energy, they crash hard, and have to eat a lot to keep it up.

    • [*][blue]Feet&Hands: The Songful Ones don’t have feet. They have stumps that very much akin to hooves, able to cling to even the smallest of crevices, enabling them to walk or climb up very sheer surfaces. They are also incapable of getting sprains from the knees down. Not having toes or fingers to worry about and having a stronger, smaller surface area means their strikes pack a rather nasty punch. This also allows them to run on four limbs to move faster. This is not without its problems. Melee weapons are almost unheard of due to this and are in fact shunned, preferring to punch and kick using their powerful limbs. Using ranged attacks is generally only used by force-wielders with telekinesis, as such it is seen as a sign of strength and prestige. They can also extend their arms a little to run on all fours.

    • [*]The Force: The Songful Ones who are force sensitive are naturally inclined to one ability that they all find the most useful. Adept at Telekinesis, they take great delight in being able to throw rocks, trees and so forth at their enemies or prey without having to run up and punch them as is usual for their species. They make such great use of it they’re even able to take control and redirect projectiles sent toward them.

    • [*][blue]Genders: The genders of the Songful Ones are split into two genders/races, which are explained below. There isn’t that much gender dimorphism when it comes to facial features, but they have the same difference humans and other species do when it comes to their genitals.
    • Races: The two races are mainly separated by their appearance, but are generally intermingled with each other, providing no barrier other than one race being more inclined to a certain gender. They are both capable of mating with each other.
    • Whuu – Smooth skin, brown pupils, slit-mouth. Singular, sharp whistles while speaking. These are more often the females, though males do exist.
    • Swii – Ragged skin, white pupils, multiple slits under skin folds, multiple low whistles when speaking. These are, more often than not, the males, though females do exist.
    • Force Sensitivity: Rare

Strengths:

    • Facing a Songful One in hand-to-hand combat involves trying to evade their strike while moving to catch them while they gallop off on all fours. Due to their inflexibility, they’re proficient in hit-and-run tactics. They hit hard enough to dent steel, and move fast. Their stumps can grind down bone, which is how they make the paste used to feed themselves.
    • They have a large muscle mass to cope with the high gravity of their planet, giving them powerful bodies. Due to their pink muscle which combines the two types, they’re not as defined as one would think, as what fat they may have can fill in the gaps. However, the species is varied, and those with a body-builder physique exist.
    • Due to their rather sturdy joints, their body parts don’t shake as much, therefore, they have a rather good aim, without the problem of having a jittery “hand”. They are naturally inclined to ranged combat, and can take to a blaster when they’ve been given the chance (and equipment allowing them to use it).
    • They have strong backs, which, combined with their muscle mass allows them to carry relatively huge amounts of weight. This amount is increased for those who are trained in the usage of the force. An average member of their species is capable of comfortably lifting five hundred kilograms or more. Furthermore, due to their bodily shape, when they run on all fours, they can carry other species on them like mounts. Furthermore, should they fall, their backs can take the shock if they fall onto their backside.
    • Due to the general shape of their wide hips (especially with females), they’re able to keep a centre of balance when mounting a creature or speeder, making them rather good riders for creatures that can carry them.
    • Weaknesses:
    • Due to their bodies boasting a huge amount of muscle mass, the support of their joints has to be much more robust, this means they aren’t as flexible as other species. Acrobatics isn’t something they are accustomed to, being more of an athletic species. Being able to do a backflip without the use of the force is considered an impressive skill.

    • They weigh a lot. This means that things that aren’t specialised for carrying large loads are going to have a poor time carrying them, they are capable of breaking seats, if they can even fit in them. Furthermore, due to the smaller surface area of their stump feet, they can break a weak piece of flooring if not careful. It also means that when they fall down, it’s much more serious if they don’t fall right, such as on their hands or backside. Falling straight onto anything other than those two can give risk of serious injury, such as spinal damage if on their backs.

    • The Songful Ones don’t have any fingers, therefore they can’t invent the way humans can unless they’re force-sensitive, or have been given metallic cyborg hands. Though they can rely on their overwhelming strength, they can’t shrug off too many blaster bolts before going down. This makes them only ever more reliant on hit-and-run tactics.

CULTURE

    • Diet: Both races are physically incapable of swallowing solid foods. They often drink from pastes and liquids. Meat and vegetables are often boiled into soups for their nutrients. Said soup or other liquidated substances are then poured into their “mouths”. They are Omnivores.

    • Communication: Both species communicate through whistling, their species’ name “The Songful Ones” are derived from this, as it’s the closest translation from their language.

    • Technology level: Stone. Due to their stumps for hands, their inventions are somewhat limited.
    • Religion/Beliefs: Religion is a foreign concept to them, as they mostly just get on with their lives. They believe in strength above all else, and will follow the strongest member of their tribe.

    • General behavior: The Songful Ones are a nomadic/tribal species. Some stay in a specific area, while others travel around. They believe in strength and courage, the stronger you are, the more impressed they will be. They’re also almost childishly giddy about things they cannot do, making them rather easy to impress for spacefaring nations. They have no value of family, they mate, and they put whatever children they may create into a group that are taught by the elders. Since they’re given from birth, they don’t know who their parents are, and the parents don’t know which ones are theirs. Taking a child from a tribe is as easy as buying or winning one, depending on how much there are. High amounts of children mean there’s less chance of the tribe dying out.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

In another Galaxy, the Songful Ones were the dominant species. However, circumstances happened and they were forced to but one world. Sadly, they were surrounded by their enemies and created a device to transport them elsewhere to evade total destruction. Unfortunately, the device’s transportation speed was dependent on the weight of those being carried. And it also included the entire solar system. Trapped on their planet for multiple millennia in hyperspace, their civilization regressed back to the stone age while being grounded by the horrors that awaited just beyond their reach. They were forced to change their own bodies to survive on their planet, as they hadn’t expected to end up there for so long. Eventually, they evolved further when society degenerated and they weren’t able to live comfortably through technology anymore.

The complex machinery, after an age or two, finally calculated that they were approaching a new galaxy by the glowing of the suns. Eventually re-emerged into the known Galaxy, all but a shadow of their old selves, a fully regressed society, not remembering what they were. Thankfully, however, they were still fully sentient, and hadn’t become simple beasts. For the Galaxy, one moment there was an empty patch of space, parsecs away from any kind of solar system, the next, there was a sun, a few small planets and a massive one. New hyperlane routes most likely had to be drawn up due to the newcomers.

Of course, they couldn’t communicate all that well to begin with as they were from an entirely different galaxy. Translator droids had to work for a few months or years until they could successfully translate their language, at which point they were finally able to communicate with others. They often allowed trades, technology for their children or adults who were interested in going off-world.
