OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • SwAzfze.png
    Organization Name
    : House Serraris
  • Classification: Nabooan Royal Family
  • Affiliation: None
  • Organization Symbol: A raven surrounded by thorny roses
  • Description: With a history as shadowy and 'unknown' as House Serraris, one might wonder why they maintained their power and prestige upon Naboo--A family that never rose to any heights or prominence, yet remained in the same category as other pivotal members of the nobility. Their origins or rise to power remains largely a mystery to the people of Naboo, yet most tales sound the same: they gained their power through the art of schemeing and eliminating their enemies in ways that could not quite be traced back to them. Yet to the smallfolk they were the house in charge of the pretty flowers in both the memorial gardens and Theed, a house that cared about even the little people while others may view their presence as naught.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Serraris Estate in the outskirts of Theed, Naboo
  • Domain: While their sway is little on paper, House Serraris' influence can be seen in almost every bouquet or flower one might find in and around Theed. Their collective efforts to liven up the streets (or to proclaim their presence to their rivals when others may have chosen to forget) endured. In this way they do not keep to themselves, and when it comes to the smallfolk and merchants, they are an active part of the trade. Allowing both poor and wealthy to roam their memorial gardens or use their grounds to conduct business on 'neutral soil'. Some may say this has also drawn the eye of criminal circles.
  • Notable Assets:
    • Serraris Estate; A grand estate made of sandstone and brass domes, with vines and flowers growing against its walls. It is the family's treasure, and holds many a tomb beneath it.
    • Memorial Gardens; The Memorial Gardens surround all of the Serraris Estate, composed of numerous paths with even more flowers and trees to accompany them. It is a place where both rich and poor come to mourn or to remember and cherish life through the blossoming nature. It's vast territory allows for business meetings to take place there as well, without the watchful eyes of the press or any other party.
    • Rynharte Hunting Grounds; Named after the ancestor of House Serraris, one of the recent Lords acquired the grounds for Twirrling--a sport that would bring people together or drive their rivals into an early grave.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
    • Patriarch - Head of the House, manages the course for the family's future and expenses.
    • First son - The shadow of the Patriarch, instructed to follow his father's words and learn about his duties in this manner.
    • Male descendants - The second-in-lines and all of the rest, most are branded to become merchants, knights, assassins(. . .) or whatever suits their desires.
    • Matriarch - The Matriarch mostly focuses on the House's representation, hosting fêtes, soirées and the like. They also teach their sons and daughters the basic etiquettes and importance of public opinion.
    • Female descendants - While cherished, they are more commonly seen as an asset to be wed to other houses to forge alliances or prevent them to act against House Serraris.
  • Membership: Membership can only be achieved through marriage or blood; adoption into House Serraris has never occurred. Marriage is furthermore not easily approved: primarily male suitors must prove they will uphold the interests of the family, even if the woman is marrying into another house. It is rumoured that they must undergo three trials to prove their loyalty.
    • Trial
  • Climate: [ Friendly local business? Czerka style intrigue? Are you at risk of expiring just by checking in at work? Describe what kind of feel your organization has from the inside. ]
  • Reputation: [ How do people see this organization from the outside? Beloved? Distrusted? Wary or neutral? Describe your organization's reputation here. ]
  • Curios: [ Do the members of your group have any special item, marking or trinket that designates their membership? Something that only those part of this group would have access to or possession of? Examples are tattoos, amulets, rings, books of faith, etc. ]
  • Rules: [ Most organizations follow some set of rules. Maybe the Resol'nare, the Jedi Code, etc. Does this group have any religious beliefs? Philosophies? ]
  • Goals: [ What are the goals of this organization? Future plans for expansion? Collection of information? Providing education to those who seek it in certain skills? Supporting charitable works? For all intents and purposes, this is your in-character intent with this organization. ]
MEMBERS
[ Mention any notable PCs or NPCs that are part of this organization and their role/title/position within it - alternatively link to a blog post with this information if you would like to keep an active player roster. You may also request a sub mod to add/remove members. Link any relevant characters or NPC submissions. ]

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description of the organization's history. Who started it, how and why it was formed, modus operandi, any events tied into its creation and existence, etc. ]

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Corvani
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient
  • Origins: Endovar
  • Average Lifespan: 30 years.
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
  • Description: At first glance they appear to be no different than ravens affected by leucism, if not slightly bigger than them. Though upon closer inspection, one might notice their feathers colour in opalescent hues when the light shines upon them, and they have been known to simply. . . vanish from sight. Additionally, a Force-user--attuned to the Light--may notice these birds carry a unique presence within the Living Force, firmly in harmony with Ashla's tune.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I Atmosphere
  • Average Height of Adults: 0.55 metres
  • Average Length of Adults: 0.8 metres
  • Average Wingspan of Adults: 1.8-1.9 metres
  • Skin color: Pale, almost white.
  • Feather color: An opalescent white.
  • Distinctions:
    • As mentioned before, the primary distinctions that set them apart from a standard raven are:
      • Colouring; Recorded to have feathers that colour in opalescent shades beneath any sort of light, Corvani immediately set themselves apart from their non-force sensitive and smaller counterpart.
        • It can be noted that Corvani hatchlings lack this colouring due to their lack of feathering.
        • Older Corvani [23-25 years onwards] suffer a similar fate as their plumes gradually grow duller.
      • Force-sensitivity; Corvani possess a natural connection to the Light side of the Force.
        • This connection grants them the potential to learn certain feats. . . these are primarily limited to;
          • Teleportation:
          • Weakened Force Light (explanation);
            • For the two above, the success hinges purely on the connection the individual Corvani has to the Light side. It must be noted that they can easily kill the Avian if they are too young/weak/inexperienced, and are in all cases draining upon the bird.
          • Force-bond;
          • Force Speed;
          • Telepathy.
        • This connection does mean that the Corvani acquires natural senses through its force-sensitivity. The skill level of these techniques is low:
      • Blood; Corvani's blood is a dark blue, as opposed to the crimson red of its counterpart.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: All
Strengths:
  • Nimble; Corvani are naturally agile when in flight, being able to manoeuvre around obstacles or foes with relative ease. Their heightened senses and potential to learn Force Speed make them great envoys when trying to transport messages in a battlefield or any obstructive terrain.
  • Intelligent & Hard-working; Eager to learn new things and quick to adapt, these birds have made it their duty to overcome any challenge thrown in their way. Be they trivial, or be they life-threatening, it does not matter to them, they will do it and they will not stop until they have achieved their goal..
  • Force-sensitive; Their natural connection to the Force awards them with heightened senses, the potential to rise above, and furthermore, the chance to bond and communicate with others attuned with the Light side. It turns an ordinary bird into a creature of greater purpose. . .
Weaknesses:
  • Force nullification; Within any Force nullification field, Corvani are reduced to naught more than common birds. They are not able to perform any of their feats or rely on their natural senses until they have left this field.
    • A secondary weakness, Dark Side nexuses: When in a Dark Side nexus, Corvani will be much weaker and, in the worst case, unable to use the Force beyond their natural senses.
  • Frail bodies; Despite their connection to the Force (granting them Danger Sense for example), their bodies are still incredibly frail, making them an easy target to be rid of in any sort of conflict. . . unless they are able to withdraw from the fight. Their primary weakness here remain their wings, should any harm come to one, they will be unable to manoeuvre themselves around any obstacles and such.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore. Their preference lies with berries of all shapes and forms, seeming to take a specific liking to cloudberries and rainbow berries. Alternatively, they do eat insects and small animals, but as creatures of the Light, they prefer to choose 'harmless' means of feeding.
  • Communication: Unlike Ravens, Corvani are not capable of reproducing Galactic Basic--not even with extensive teaching. They can understand it. They communicate either through trained Telepathy with their bonded human(oid), or they communicate through croaking and cawing with their species. Another form of communication is for example through using their beaks and claws to gesture at wares or figures.
  • Technology level: N/A.
  • Religion/Beliefs: Explained in general behaviour.
  • General behavior: A Corvani's behaviours find heavy ties to their main values: Family, Loyalty and the Preservation of Light & Life. Their main purpose is to find another being to shape a Force-Bond with, be they a fellow Corvani or be they a Humanoid to serve until their dying breath, which ties into the second value.
    • Family; To Corvani, family remains the most important aspect of their life, be it the family they have or the family they find. The adult avians raise their young until they are two years old, and ensure they are taught all there is to know to survive in this world--and to uphold the values of their species. They can only ever bond with one corvani (their bond with humanoids is different in that sense). The process of this can be either easy or rather tumultuous (see 'Loyalty'), this has sadly limited their reproduction over the centuries and ensured the numbers of this strange species remain scarce.
    • Loyalty; These birds carry a very strong sense of loyalty--to their families, to their order, to anything that is perceived as 'important' in their eyes. How this loyalty is acquired varies, some birds manage to forge a connection the moment they sense another figure, whereas others undergo a slow and long assessment of a specific individual, before they are seen as worthy in the avian's eyes. Once achieved, they will blindly follow the orders of this individual, even if it means sacrificing their own life to achieve its means--or to protect said individual.
    • Preservation of Light & Life; These curious creatures hail from a planet that became an outpost for the High Republic in ~500-400 BBY. In this time they studied and interacted with the Jedi and were intrigued by their Code and way of life. . . Slowly but surely they began to copy some of these mannerisms and evolved to attune themselves with the Light and apply these techniques. The Corvani therefore also vaguely uphold the older Jedi Code and the teachings that have been passed down for generations upon generations.
    • It can too be noted that these creatures are quite intelligent for birds and eager to learn new things--be they tricks, be they force techniques or anything else.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The first known sighting of a Corvani was done between the year 500 and 400 BBY, by the Jedi stationed at the Endovar Jedi Temple. A Padawan noted a white bird watching him train in the courtyard, but thought it to be naught more than an ordinary animal--some of the wildlife scattered around the planet. When more Jedi began to note this bird (if not birds) throughout their days, one of the Jedi Knights set out to discover more about this species and their particular interest with the people stationed at their sanctuary. What she discovered was an Avian species of sorts, with a unique capability to use the Force, and to establish Force-bonds with creatures (such as herself).

Registered as 'Corvani', several Padawans stationed on Endovar were tasked with studying the species, with coming to know what it could do and how it behaved. These recordings were safely stored on the Jedi Temple and infrequently updated for as long as the High Republic Era lasted. When the Temple slowly became abandoned, this knowledge was stored away within the heart of its temple. . . untouched for many centuries.

Whispers of these creatures remained on the planet, but none of its population knew them to be anything more than birds--and even if they had a hunch there might be more. . . there was not a trace of knowledge to be found, or left behind by these individuals. Sometime between 900-905 ABY, the Padawan learner Isobel Serraris Isobel Serraris stumbled upon the planet of Endovar through her research about the Luminous Nine and the other Jedi during the High Republic Era. While the ancient database has remained untouched, she did come into contact with one particular Corvani.
