OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Some of the most beautiful and resistant trees in all of the galaxy come from the forests of Illyria.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Winter Oak Tree
  • Origins: Illyria
  • Other Locations: None
  • Classification: Tree
  • Average Growth Cycle: The Illyrian Winter tree has a life cycle that lasts roughly seven hundred years. It takes nearly a year for a tree's seed to reach gestation and begin growth into a sapling. The growth from seed to sapling can take anywhere between three to seven months. Following the growth stage into sapling the tree tends to grow at a rate of three to four feet a year until it has reached ten years of age. From there the trees continue to grow a foot a year until it is around eighty feet in height. At eighty to eight-four feet the tree's growth cycle comes to an end and will maintain that height for the rest of its life.
  • Viability: The Winter Oak is an exceptionally hardy tree, needing only two hours of sunlight and semi-fertile land to take into gestation. The more fertile the land, the faster the growth of the tree can occur, however in barren land the trees tend to grow at almost half their usual rate.
  • Description: There are few trees as beautiful as the Winter Oak. Native to Illyria the trees have a deep brown trunk with smooth bark. The leaves that grow on the tree are vibrantly colored, giving off a beautiful glow when drowned out by the darkness of night.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: 25 Meters
  • Average Length: 5 Meters
  • Color: The Winter Oak tree comes in a variety of floral colors such as blue, purple, pink, red, and orange. In the last hundred years of a tree's life it will slowly begin to turn from it's floral color to a pristine winter white, hence the tree's name.
  • Nutritional Value: Natural nutrients gathered from the soil.
  • Toxicity: No
  • Other Effects: Leaves plucked from the Winter Oak have minor healing properties. They have the ability to rejuvenate stamina, calm the mind, and speed the metabolism of the body to purge it from unhealthy toxins and poisons. The bark on the tree's grows with a natural ability to disrupt energy fields, making them extremely resistant to energy-based weaponry and tools. Winter Oak trees have been known to vastly increase the quality of the soil they settle, over a span of decades.
  • Distinctions: The Winter Oak has an uncanny feature. When darkness falls upon these trees, the leaves will begin to shine vibrantly, illuminating the area surrounding them.
Strengths:
  • The trunk of the winter oak has a trunk that is naturally resistant to most forms of energy. Blasterfire, plasma weaponry, and even lightsabers find it extremely difficult to penetrate a thick slab of Winter Oak wood.
  • Due to the natural resiliency of the Winter Oak it is capable of adapting to most kinds of soil, allowing it to grow, albeit at a slower pace, in harsher environments. The longer a tree is planted in the soil, the more it will improve the quality of said soil through the nutrients it stores in it's root system.
  • Killing an Illyrian Winter tree is exceptionally difficult. As the trees are highly resistant to most forms of killer and can not be easily torn down through energy means they are able to withstand a great deal of trauma before truly dying off.
  • The Winter Oak's leaves are capable of producing a natural healing tonic once properly refined. This tonic is slightly inferior to a bacta solution, but can help improve the rejuvenation rate of wounded areas.
Weaknesses:
  • Clearing an area of Illyrian Winter Oak Tree's can take a long time, as the trees are capable of withstanding most forms of killer and even energy-based tools and weapons. Standard blades and saws can cut through the tree as if cutting through a regular oak tree.
  • Although the tree's are resistant to energy weaponry, a good fire can completely devastate the tree's leaf system. While this will not entirely kill the tree, it has been noticed that ridding an Illyrian tree of its leaves makes it more susceptible to tree killer solutions and other means of extermination.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Ever since the foundation of the planet's Monarchy, the Illyrian Winter Oak's have been a highly sought after commodity of the planet. Almost all Illyrian Winter Oak's are found within the lands of a prominent Illyrian Noble, Raphael Boucher . In exchange for providing the Illyrian people with these trees, the Viscount has received special privileges and funds. Cultivation of the trees has proven extremely difficult, however the trees are plentiful in the Viscount's lands. The only other source of the trees are in the edges of the young Sieur, Mahaut Mahaut lands. The Winter Oak's are believed to be foreign to the planet, and a nomadic tribe once brought the trees to the world of Illyria in hopes of one day settling the planet. The Viscoun, Raphael, who has lived for thousands of years on the world, admits that he had no part in their cultivation and that for them to be so widely prominent in a single area, they must have been cultivated by someone.

This is extremely well detailed and thought out, I have only one question.

While the weakness addresses fire and the tree's ability to disrupt energy-based tools is described, about about vibroblades? Or even a traditional hand axe? Is this like Brylark wood, in term of having the hardiness of metal, or is it vulnerable to non-energy based tools in the same way as most ordinary wood?

As a second note:

The provided link goes directly to the image and does not supply a credit for the original artist. This is Tree of Life by Lilia Osipova.

I would look at it having Resistant properties against energy-based weaponry and such. However, a simple chainsaw would take it down far easier than a plasma cutter. It has about the same strength as an other old oak tree. Except when it comes to those certain properties it resists. I hope that makes sense!

Also i updated the link, sorry about that!

Thank you for that clarification. If you could clarify in the weaknesses that non-energy based tools will cut this like normal wood, then I'll be happy to stamp it for you.
