Private Winter in a volcano!

Mustafar

A planet of obsidian, fire, lava, and full of history. The blackened and fiery surface loomed below the shuttle she and her apprentice were upon, searching the surface for a spot that she fancied for today's training but was having difficulty finding somewhere she preferred, leaning back she let a annoyed sigh out quietly flicking her voidstone ring a few times before finally a smile painted her face

ah there we go that's the spot I want

Slowly bringing them down stardust had them hover above the sea of lava, opening the ramp she carefully walked out and raised her hands as a circle of lava stopped and by her will began to rapidly cool, the area was big enough for both the shuttle and plenty of room for them to train upon. The shuttle would soon pand and stardust would beckon her apprentice out

come, we must begin, I've delayed for to long

Mairéad had been waiting for this trip, a chance to see exactly what her powers were capable of. But the nerves were now getting to her she stood on the edge of the shuttle door and looked down at the boiling lava that spread in every direction. Her buy'ce hung on the wall next to her, she didnt need it for this, even the armour was only there because in the event Mairéad couldn't rely on her power, she could rely on mandalorian steel to keep her alive.

"Star! This place is insane? she looked at her mentor wide eyed, "is the whole planet like this?" she could feel the darkness of this place but she could also feel the power radiating from her friend as she solidified the ground beneath the two of them and commanded the shuttle to land. Mai trusted Star, but it still put butterflies in her stomach to step onto the newly set rock, a mere crusting on top of lava at thousands of degrees.

On the small island it was hot, at Star's instruction, the environmental controls of her suit were disabled. If Mai wanted comfort it was all down to her. It didn't take a lot for her to balance her temperature, her natural defences were protecting her. But she had a feeling it was going to get much harder.

"So what is my first lesson Master?" The title was respectful but playful, both aknowledged that no ex slave should ever call someone master again.

do you fear it? Will you run? As you have done or will you stand and face this?

She said and looked down to he apprentice as she step onto the surface without a care and raised her hands as she took a deep breath and then exhaled, the raging lava around then calmed down at the very motion, though it bubble and the heat was still there for stardus did not command it. Stepping away from from the shuttle she grinned at mai calling her master

well my student, ice does not exist anywhere on this planet, just as the planet of hoth no fire exist on the surface. But by my will I defy that cold and I can turn a area into dried stone. Therefore, we shall start simple as I have, to form a mere ice shard and keep it from dripping a single drop of water on this surface shall be your first of many test...everyone starts somewhere...no power is obtained truly from artifacts or enchantments. Ones will determines their power, if you can strive to be better then what you already know you will obtain your own power and therefore ascend above those that doubt you

As a example star held her hand up and formed a ball of plasma, though it was small it grew and she tossed it for a nearby outcropping of rocks, it exploded on a fiery ball and stardust turned back to mai

that is but a mere scratching of what I can do...but I will not reveal all secrets till your ready, now then let's begin

There was a flash of anger in Mairéad's eyes as Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae accused her of running, Mairéad was no coward, she had survived everything the universe had thrown at her so far. But her anger changed to a grin as she understood the meaning "I am done running away, I an excited to see what this hald melted rock has to offer.".

The glassy ground crunched under her feet, it did have a serene beauty to it, she pushed some hair behind her ear as the intense heat whipped up hot winds. Listening to her tutor she pondered the instructions, it made sense, if she could create cold here, surrounded by flame she could create it anywhere.

"I can do that" she was not certain, but had no interest in showing doubt in herself. She unclipped and removed her gauntlet and attached its armoured form to her waist. She looked at her hand as she began to channel her power, watching the force around it, she could feel the familiar feeling of her blood cooling and drawing energy out of the air, but there was less response than normal, the harsh environment and the cloying darkness fought back.

She looked at Star with curious eyes, not respecting a response, but interested in her reaction. She fought back and began to channel some of the pain she had trapped away inside her, as much as she hated it, it strengthened her. She focused until slowly, like a cat extending its claws, icy talons formes at her fingernails, a mixture of miniscule amounts of water vapour and the much more prevelent sulphuric compounds formed into a grubby looking shard of ice that she clutched like a dagger. She watched as the surface rippled as it melted an refroze as the two forces fought each other. Eventually turning grey as Mairéad gained the upper hand and the crystal solidified into a dagger of iced nearly a foot long with razor tipped point. The more she continued, the better she felt the ebb and flow of the force, but the amount of energy she was expending was not something she could keep up for long. Once the shard completely solidified she held and inspected it for a good few moments.

Mairéad then looked at Stardust and smiled, before whipping the blade of ice like a throwing dagger into the ground at her feet as if to prove it was real. The blade stood proudly in the rock and persisted for a about ten seconds before finally succumbing to the intense heat and evaporating. Being made almost entirely of frozen sulphur dioxide the was no liquid phase, so, as instructed, bot a drop touched the surface of the planet.

There was a pride in stardust eyes, nodding her head to mairead she observed her as she crossed her arms, the air did indeed cool if even for a few seconds but what made stardust react was the fact that the ice dagger thrown before her feet wasnt even water at all. A chuckle escaped her lips before it moved into a full blown laugh before she calmed herself

you found a way around my test, honeslty I'm not even mad I'm greatly impressed my apprentice

She moved to the edge of their little island as she looked out over the flowing lava all around, letting a breath out she turned to face mairead

do you know how my fire works in even space? Oxygen doesnt exist up there, the way my power works the way I've mastered it in every environment even under the water is that I command the molecules that make fire....in the air exists the very building blocks that make water...you must learn to command them to make water

Closing her eyes she would place her hands on her sides, fire began to form in front of her without lifting a finger, her eyes would open as she reached down to pick it up and hold it out

one day, you shall do this with ice, but for now we must take small steps...for even the greatest users were once nothing more then stumbling students. I wanna see ice creeping around you, I want your next lesson to be to learn to focus it, take heed my word everything you need for ice is in the very air...if you can manipulate it

Mairéad furrowed her brow as her master congratulated her, then instructed her again. "Make water from air with the force? Can I not just freeze the elements I have available? I punched a shard of a man's own frozen blood through his chest?" she laughed as she rolled her hand around in the air, a ball of ice formed as she did and she toyed with it like a juggler might entertain someone. "This isn't water, to tell the truth I don't know what I am holding, but it's damn cold whatever it is." she had been listening and she began to allow more ice to creep about uer as instructed.

The air about her shimmered with cold as she concentrated on bringing the temperature down lower, the beads of sweat on her skin froze into shards of ice. "I'm not entirely sure what you mean by wishing to see the ice crawl, but I will show you my own interpretation."

With her temperature low and the air right on its freezing point she was able to freeze and and thaw different sections at command. It was crude, she had only tried this as games but she made rocks move as small chunks of ice formed and melts on their sides, wobbling them on the ground all around her as if the ground was crawling with insects. Unfortunately the fine control was taking its toll, and before long, the ground ceased responding to her caresses and hardened below irs freezing point. She let out a puff of breath and looked at her master.

"Stardust, please tell me, why is this so much more exhausting when I am happy, before, when I was alone I could freeze a man's blood in his veins and it barely touched me, now, it feels like the force is pulling directly from me, instead of flowing through me? That's how it works right? That's how it feels? Do I have to be sad?"

you must use your resources that you have, but however there may be a time when you cannot get access to them, so you must be ready to materialize it. You will learn in time my student

A chil came ove rher if only briefly as she smiled and crossed her arms nodding as she watched the rocks slowly crawl along the ground

interpret it as you want, I gave it vague for a reason, to let you work it out....fine control of your powers is a good thing to learn

As she watched the rocks freeze over and heard the puff of breath from Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus and frowned as she looked down, her brow furrowed a but as she tried to think how to explain it to mai. Finally she sighed and placed a hand gently on her shoulder and looked at her with the look of a parent who couldn't exactly give a good explanation

thr force...it relies heavily on the user's emotions, it is why the dark side exist, in my younger years when I was about young as you I learned pyrokinesis because I had such rage in me...I fell to the dark side. However as I grew and learned I found out there's other emotions that are fiery like passion, happiness, love, and being prideful. You must figure out which emotions aside from being sad make you feel cold, what gives you that feeling? Could it be the cold hard determination of winning a battle? Maybe it's being calm as ice?
