OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Outer Rim Military Engineering
  • Affiliation: ORME, AiE, SJO
  • Model: Windcleaver Axeblade
  • Modularity: No

  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Leather-lined titanium hilt and support chain, durasteel top and bottom guards, titanium main blade and backblade with alusteel edges
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Claymore/Axe
  • Size: Very Large
  • Weight: Heavy
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Hilt - The Windcleaver's hilt is wrapped in leather padding, providing a comfortable and secure grip for wielding the bulky weapon.
  • Support Chain - The chain attached to each guard at the end of the hilt is meant to balance out the weight on top of the blade, allowing easier handing.
  • Backblade - At the end of the hilt is a much smaller blade, yet equally sharp. It is meant to be used in combat in small, enclosed areas where swinging the larger blade would be highly ineffective.
Strengths:
  • Smasher - Designed to force its massive bulk into the heads and hearts of its victims, whether obstructed or not, the Windcleaver can slice through all but the thickest of armor. The well-honed blade can effortlessly crack through bone like a nutcracker cracks a nut.
  • Multi-Purpose - In a constantly shifting battlefield, the main blade and backblade can fill in for each other as a Heavy and Scout lion and mouse would. While the main blade can handle intense combat against many enemies, the backblade is a useful backup and is as lethal as a bowie knife in confined spaces.
  • Ironheart - Due to the many steels going into the Windcleaver's construction, it is highly durable and can take months, or even years of wear and tear before repairs or replacements are necessary.
Weaknesses:
  • Brute - The weight of the Windcleaver, while minimized to the furthest extent possible, is still a lot to handle. Any human or near-human would have to hold a Windcleaver with both hands to avoid muscle injury and maximize the effectiveness of the weapon's swings.
DESCRIPTION
The Windcleaver Axeblade is ORME's first step into creating effective melee weapons.
The Windcleaver is a hybrid between a sword and an axe, with the bottom half resembling a traditional claymore while the top half has the curved blades of an axe's blade. Its size corresponds to that of a large RPG, albeit a RPG with a cutting edge. The bulk of the Windcleaver increases its cutting power, as a greater amount of weight is pressed into a target. Upon realizing a disparity of weight on the top of the blade that disrupted performance, a weighted chain was added to the bottom of the Windcleaver. The sharp alusteel blade tips are well-refined and intended to cut through armor and flesh alike. Additionally, the alusteel construct guarantees that the Windcleaver is highly durable and will last for many battles, even with heavy use.
