Private Will of The Force [ TJO Council ]

Walking the storied Temple halls of the Naboo Jedi Order was a feeling Briana didn’t know she would ever tire of. Here, the strength of the light buoyed her, connected her to everything. A feeling that'd become even more apparent after her time away, and her experiences on Ayvara, now that she was back. It stretched outward, reaching through the lush forests of the Gallo Mountains teeming with life, to the students housed beneath the protection of its stone rooftops. She felt them as she moved by, each of them a pin prick of light. Consumed by their daily tasks, meditating on their lightsaber forms, contemplating their feelings, finding balance, and their place in the Force. It was peace.

Even as her steps carried her closer to the Council chambers, aware that she would soon stand in a ring of the Order’s leaders, come together to weigh her future, there was no sense of discomfort or unease. Only the quiet settling of coming home, a home she’d been eager to get back to for some time now.

Not the kind of home she'd slowly begun to build with Vizion. That was different… harder to name, but needed and cherished all the same. The two of them existed in a state of motion between one another. A push and pull like gravity working against a tractor beam, oscillating between duty to the Force, the endless pursuit of peace, and one another.

Reaching the large double doors, Briana pushed those lingering thoughts to the back of her mind and drew in a steady breath before stepping forward with a purposeful gait.

The chamber beyond looked just as she remembered it. Deep cushioned chairs, lined with a velvet, maroon fabric, circled the middle of the room; the marble floors, always kept polished, shined until you could practically see your own reflection, and the stone walls were perpetually warmed by the sun streaming through the large window arcs. For a fleeting moment, she’d half-expected to find something had changed in her absence, a thought that, on reflection, struck her as faintly silly.

To each of those who’d been able to be present, Briana lowered her head in a show of due humility and respect, then stood tall, her voice forgotten for the time being. It wouldn't be needed, not until she was called on to speak.

The Zeltron was for lack of a better word, lounging.

Head propped against her hand once more with one leg crossed over the other. Eyes closed as she waited. Senses stretched beyond the room carefully as her breathing remained steady. Even. Each breath barely registered physically.

Then a familiar presence brushed against the reaches of her senses.

Ruby eyes slowly opening as she focused on the door. The corner of her mouth curling into a smile as she adjusted in her seat. A bit more upright. A little more presentable. Until Briana entered the room and spent a few precious seconds to take in the surroundings.

As if expecting something about the room to have changed.

Her own eyes swept over the room with a focus on the things in it. All as it had been since they had come into existence. Maybe they were all a bit stuck in the past about things.

Or maybe they hadn't needed to undergo a change of scenery for the room just yet. The thought disturbed only by Briana giving each of them a respectful bow. Of which Lossa returned in kind before shifting back to her informal posture.

Her eyes narrowing slightly as she took in the sight of her cousin. "Time away has served you well." A finger tapping against her temple when her lean returned.

"You seem lighter, Knight Sal-Soren." A soft reminder to both of them about the task ahead. As much as she wanted to begin speaking of familial topics, now was not the time.

And a touch of the blues
You are on this council but we do not grant you the rank of admin.

That was honestly fine for Vodet. He had a special position. The Waybinder. He tied the Order and its outlying enclaves and communities together. He may have mastered katanas and bo staffs and nunchucks and sais. But that was only a rumor. In honesty Vodet was nearly a Wayseeker himself. But a driving desire to protect was always there.

His freighter was back on Naboo. Moving younglings to their next Enclave in rotation. And pausing to perfect some of his raw fish dishes with a few species and spices from Naboo.

Sadly he had to be inside on a day like this. Helping with paperwork and having the nudge that even he was being summoned. Vodet needed to learn that he could work his role from anywhere.

He should also move a water tank in here. With a heat lamp. And some lettuce to eat. But for now the large Yinchorri sat, in the robes of his rank with a teal sash of Kattada around his waist.

Briana had returned.

Her pace was fast, for her. Ala's short legs took twice as long to cover the same distance as Lorn might with the same effort, but she made up for it with extra enthusiasm. Yes, Ala was excited.

Gone was her trepidation over taking over the role of Grandmaster. Gone was the imposter feelings that had lingered, and haunted her for some time. And gone was that feeling that Briana would return and everyone would demand Ala step down. Part of her had wanted that. OK. All of her had wanted that.

But Ala had found her niche. She was not the strongest. Nor was she even the wisest. She was not the greatest warrior nor the greatest scholar. She had spent much time seeking answers as to her strengths and what she had to offer. Ultimately, she had settled on the reality that she was neither exceptional in talent or tragic in the lack thereof. Her greatest strength was as it had always been...her lightness.

And so, she walked into the Council chambers with eyes aglow and smile serenely etched into her features. "Briana," she said softly. She did not know the eldest Sal-Soren that well. But she still gave her a hug.

She stepped back, posture taking on a formality that seemed half joke and half desperate necessity. "Welcome back to the Jedi Order. Hopefully...I didn't break too many things in your absence." Just a glint of that so-totally-conquered uncertainty flitted across her face. It was quickly replaced with another small smile.

Ala took her seat. It was far too big for her, and she curled her legs up under herself to fill up a little more of the space.

Briana seemed as though the weight of responsibility had finally rolled from her shoulders. It was good to see her free of the burden. She only hoped Briana did not accept it all back on her shoulders too quickly. The universe-saving was not a job for one person alone.

"I am curious as to where the Force is leading you as you rejoin us," Ala said, with a gentle wave of her hand encouraging Briana to speak freely.

PATRIMONIUM

Of all days, Briana picks today to return. He had been up all night drafting the contents of the datapad in his hand. He was preparing to request a meeting with Master Quin this very day.

The datapad was tucked under his left arm. And he was late. All manner of excuses had been conjured to prevent him from coming to this meeting, but none would have been accepted. He knew his sister. She would hunt him down. It was her thing.

He winced, a flare of fiery pain hitting his nerves. His breathing slowed. The pain eased, but not so much that he no longer felt it. He could do so, for a time. But the subtle ache of the slowly burning facial wound was as much a salve as it was a curse. It prevented him from dwelling on a far greater loss.

The door slid open, and Brandyn stepped in. Briana's back was to him, and he circled about the room in such a way as to maintain that as long as possible. His face turned away from her until he came to his seat, and turned to sit down.

"Welcome home." He said, ache barely restrained in his tone.

HIGH COUNCIL CHAMBER
SHIRAYA'S SANCTUARY NABOO
Vizion was often the first one here. Sometimes he’d given the impression that he lived in this chamber, part time, when a mountain of work was before him, and he needed a change of scenery from his ‘office’, sometimes to distract himself from his own troubles that as-yet persist.

But the chamber was quieter than it used to be. Always in part did the council convene, these days… so apparent was the weight of things beyond their control when Brandyn filtered into the room, delayed. The Brentaalan only granted him a flicker of muted observation in place of any surprise as he lowered the dataslate he was reading from to the table, having easily gained a read on what transpired in that moment.

Ah.

His concern, concealed as it was, split with the realisation. He slipped a glance at Lossa, then circled back to Briana — their guest, their former grandmaster, and the woman he wasn't certain he could live without... even if she could very well be the death of him.

It’s good to have you back in the fold.” This was a different perspective for him, for most of them, with her standing where she was. “You look well. Please,” he gave a small smile, moved the dataslate to one side, and folded his hands together atop the table, “tell us about your time of retreat and reflection, and what it has done for you, given you.
