Why cut people when you can bash the hell out of them?

Taking a hold of the standard Sarix, I slashed at a training dummy. I had the force containment field shut off that way I didn't cut the daylights out of everything. I was just practicing at the different swings that we, the Angelii were trained in.

Backhand, forehand, uppercut, downstroke, stab.

It was getting boring to say the least. it was not something that I would want to spend all of my day doing. Dressed in simple clothes, I only studied the different combinations of moves, Each set was given a name. Set 15 was the one that I just did, and now working on the 16th set, I shook my head. It was always chopping and stabbing people. made things messy and rather, gore filled. Even though I was one to fight, getting blood stains out of 5 of my shirts already was not a fun task of doing. and Tydaes didn't make it any better. She would come over and step on my just washed clothes with her dirty boots, or wipe sweat off of her brow so I would have to wash them again. Even when I was a half an hour late to the next "class" she would still do so. It made me pissed.

Taking a hold of my shield I just let go. Smashing the dummy with it over and over again until it was now a heap of material. And you know what, I felt so good that I didn't care that I was now being walked off the field by my long ear once more by Tydaes. It hurt like hell, but I still loved the feeling of beating the poodoo out of the dummy. and that gave me an idea.

A few hours later on my break time, I decided to visit the Princess. Walking in to the main tent, I was stopped by guards, well more so Angelii that had passed the bootcamp from hell, looking at them I spoke, "I would like to have a word with the Princess if she accepts my company."

Wordlessly they allowed her through. Anya was sitting at her desk working on the Firemane accounts. It was no easy matter, that was for sure, what with all the ‘irregular acquisitions’ and the nightmare of different levels and types of taxation.

So when Aelavin entered, Anya rose, looking a little amused still.
“I see the gallant Tydaes has been putting you through your paces. Unusual times call for unfortunately cruelty, and whilst I don’t approve of her methods, they are necessary. Anyway, what can I do for you?” she asked politely.

I shook my head as the Princess spoke about my trainer who I had nicknamed, Miss tight-panties. Because every time she took a step she hobbled like she had a not in her pants and she was always yelling at me. "Gallant. My. Ass." I then smiled as though I had never even spoke those three words. "You have pike weapons, and sword weapons. But I see no blunt force being used. It crossed my mind during training that.... To put a long story short I beat the crap out of a dummy with my shield. And I thought that I could talk to you about possibly making something like Hammers, maces, or even just a wooden sword with the Force Field."

Shrugging my shoulder I looked at her, "I mean, the feeling of beating the crap out of something feels so much better than just cutting a dummys arm off time and time again."

Anya chuckled at the rebuke. The girl had spirit, though how much of it would survive Tydaes' tough love was unknown.
"The hammer, the club and the mace are not weapons the Eldorai have historically used. We have always seen them as...inferior...even crude. Anyone can pick up a rock or a stick and hit someone, but it takes effort to make a blade which can cut through armour."
Anya though was not one who was given to mindless retention of tradition though.
"What did you have in mind?"

I nodded my head, She was right that it was not traditionally a way of beating people, but the Eldori were a very elegant race of people. People that prefered a clean and effective way of going along in their day. And swords did that almost perfectly. The only problem with that, is I didn't like it. I was among them and thought of as weird. Partly because of how I dressed, and my snarky attitude. Sure swords were great and effective, but really, something else was needed. Her question made me think. and oh did I think.

"Do you think that it also takes effort to use a hammer effectively? Sure hammers can be swung, but think of a blacksmith. They have to wield their hammers with precise movements to get that perfect edge on a sword. And really Ma'am, I don't see you banging a hammer on metal to create such an item. They have to be taught just like the Angelii are, Precise movements until they reach perfection, and even through heat and pain they have to continue to work."

I looked down at the table that was to my side and thought, I had some skills using a hammer, but I had left it for the Angelii. In my heart, I missed using my fathers worn hammer to create little things. even if they to others looked nothing of importance. I wanted to possibly have something of my home with me.

"Ma'am, I may be the youngest student to ever walk these grounds. but even with the way that these people are headed, The Eldori as a whole. Always on top of the chain and sticking to their ways, that sometimes change is good. Even at first it may not be wanted, but later on could bring great importance. The hammer may be crude, and Inferior, but just remember that every blade you swing, was made from a hammer, every building that you make, was made from a hammer. Frankly,we would not have anything should we have not had theses inferior tools."

Anya raised an eyebrow. The girl was preaching to the choir here. There were many things that Anya Venari was, but hardline conservative was not one of them.
"I think...most of our weapons are made industrially these days," she offered with a smile. "I grasp your point perfectly. I may be Princess, but I see no reason to continue tired traditions unless they are relevant. And so on, and so forth. But what ideas do you have for me now involving a hammer weapon? Obviously a simple hammer will not do the trick against a Sarix or a Taegis. So what do you propose in order to make a weapon which is both modern and yet useable?"
After all, Eldorai were not the strongest around, and an unspoken reason for the lack of blunt force weapons is the weight would tire even an Angelii rapidly.
