Wheels in Motion

She might have been a simple woman, but Seo did know how to cook some things. The knight also knew just how important some things were and sticking to the routine was one of them. Reggie might not have one, but she did. Ever since she gained her freedom and had joined a family, she had this one. Nodding her head when he entered the mess, she motioned for him to join her.

Bringing over two plates, she set one down in from of him and took the other for herself.

"I did. How about you?"

Placing the datapad on the table between them, she waited on his answer before activating it and making a few more notes on it. They weren't new clues or anything, but an outline and plans for herself once they arrived at The Wheel. Pushing it across at him, she indicated he could do the same if he wanted.

Reggie smiled and nodded in thanks, grateful for the plate of food. He picked up a fork and ate a little bit. The Padawan made sure to finish chewing before responding to the Knight, not trying to be rude.

"I did as well. This is quite good by the way, thank you."

Reggie watched as Seo turned on the datapad and made a few some more notes. When she had passed it to him, he took a quick look to see what she had added, Noticing that what she had done was made an outline for when they arrived at the wheel. The young man nodded and pushed the datapad back over to Seo, not having anything else to add. The young man continued to eat, finishing his plate quite quickly.

"So I assume it won't be much longer until we reach the Wheel?"

[member="Seo Linn"]

"Just a few more hours. It is mid-morning now and we should be there early afternoon."

While he was looking through her notes, she finished eating her own food. Just a simple quick breakfast for the two of them.

"Do you think we should get other clothes or is what we are wearing going to be acceptable there?"

This mission would be another lesson for Reggie. While Seo would be able to easily fit into any crowd due to the training she gained on Lorrd, he might not be able to. She would pass along a little knowledge she had and hopefully, it would be something he could use in the future. The Force knew she used this skill often enough.

"You're welcome. It might be something simple, but most things I cook are. Live on a desert world and you learn how to make a feast out of just a few items."

Picking up their plates, she placed them in the sink and washed them. No sense in leaving them dirty while they were at the Wheel.

Whether he needed to change his clothes or not to fit into the area never occurred to him. Everything Reggie has done in his Jedi career has been straight forward, at least for the most part. Being able to divert attention while on the wheel would probably be important. The Padawan took a moment to think before answering, wondering what someone going to the Wheel would wear. He came to the conclusion that they weren't wearing anything that would draw too much attention to them. In Reggie's case, the only thing that would peak a person's interest would be his lightsaber which he would be able to hide easily. The pouch that was on his belt may be of interest to others but considering it's small size he wasn't worried about it catching a pickpockets eye.

"I believe what we have is acceptable. I don't think we're wearing anything that would draw too much attention, which I assume is the idea. What do you think?"

Reggie was looking at Seo as he spoke and was attentive to whatever her answer would be. Seo had more experience than him, so her thoughts on the matter were more valuable than his, at least they were in his mind.

"Simple is good though. i'm grateful that you cooked a meal for me at all, and i'm not picky. I could never be picky while living on Tatooine."

Smiling while saying this, Reggie couldn't help but agree with what she had said. His parents knew how and had to cook with whatever they had at the time, whether it was few items or not. From what he assumed though, Seo's experience on a desert planet was different from his. While they had their troubles, life wasn't as difficult as it could have been for Reggie and his family.

Since the Wheel was a public place, what they wore shouldn't cause too much attention, not even their lightsabers. There was no rule about not carrying weapons that Seo knew of and planned to wear hers openly. If they entered a location they couldn't take them, then that issue would be dealt with then. For now, though, it remained attached to her hip.

"If we need to change, we should be able to acquire what is needed there. Some higher-end parts might need us to dress in something more formal."

They agreed to go in as they were and go from there. Nodding when he thanked her, he got a small smile when he mentioned Tatooine.

"I grew up on a world similar to Tatooine. Have you ever heard of Lorrd?"

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

Hearing that Seo grew up on a world similar to Tatooine surprised Reggie. He didn't know why exactly, but it did. Reggie had to think before he could answer her question. The Padawan had done some research on the planet before but it wasn't too much to say that he knew enough about the planet. He was always interested in learning more though, so his little knowledge on the planet would most likely increase. If not today, then there were always other opportunities.

"I have heard of Lorrd."

Reggie said the words in a way that made it clear that he knew of the planet, but didn't have much knowledge about it. The Padawan waited for Seo to continue, showing that he was interested to hear more about the planet and the world she grew up on.

Giving Reggie a brief nod and a sliver of a smile, she started to put things back into the bag and clean up the breakfast dishes they had used.

"That is more than many people can say. Right now it is under the control of the Sith. Luckily they haven't really touched it, so my family lives quietly and keep to themselves."

Maybe after this mission was done, they could visit them. It would give Seo the opportunity to see her son again and her family there.

"I think you might be able to learn some things from them. If you want after we wrap up this mission, we can go there. Maybe you can spend some time with them. That is up to you though."

He was a few years older than her son, but they might get along.

Reggie was happy to hear that Seo's family was able to live there lives without the Sith interfering. Being under the rule of such people can be difficult, instilling fear in the society being a tactic that some Sith used to keep everyone under control.

"I'm glad to hear that they're able to keep to themselves."

The offer of going to Lorrd to meet the Knight's family was a pleasant surprise. This would give him the chance to visit the planet, while also getting a chance to learn more about Seo and her family. He had only known the Knight for a short while but already felt comfortable around her. Of course, Reggie was always a trusting person, especially if others gave him no reason not to trust them.

"I would be happy to meet your family after this mission. I think it would be a pleasant visit."

[member="Seo Linn"]

"The normal people usually aren't noticed. It is the kind that makes waves that are. My family are simple people without the Force and live in a small town. It's the kind of place where people are devoted to the community and help each other."

Seo wasn't one to make much small conversation so the next few hours were pretty quiet between them. If Reggie asked anything, she would provide him answers, but those were kept to short answers. They would provide him with any information he wanted, but not much more.

An alarm alerted them of their arrival and she grabbed her bag along with her lightsaber and opened the ramp of her ship.

"Welcome to the Wheel."

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

After their conversation about Seo's family, the small talk faded out. While Reggie was a talker he knew that there wasn't always a need to chat, so he decided to relax a bit until they arrived.

Time seemed to go by quickly. When the alarm went off to indicate they were at their destination, Reggie grabbed his gear and met the Knight on the ramp of the ship. Taking a look around the surroundings, the Padawan realized that this place wasn't like any other that he's seen. They had only just arrive but he could sense the buzzing of the casino's and the people who enjoy such vices.

"Interesting place. Not one i'd go to for a quite and relaxing vacation though."

The light humor helped the Padawan ignore the noise of the lively casinos that seemed a bit closer than they truly were.

[member="Seo Linn"]

As soon as they exited her ship, her gold eyes started to take in details of the landing bay. How well kept (or not) it was and if the owners here employed droids or organics, along with countless other details not many might think of. Turning her head to look at Reggie when he spoke, he got an amused smile from Seo. The humour was quite fitting and she appreciated it.

"Quiet is not something we will find much of here. C'mon, let's get moving."

Locking up her ship, she would start to walk out of the hanger. Not moving especially fast, Seo wanted to make sure they would fit into the mix of people easily. That was one skill she had perfected in her life. It had nothing to do with the Force and hopefully, Reggie would start taking lessons from her on the mission. After they finished here, the plan to go visit her family had been set and she always looked forward to seeing them.

"Do you have a map or guide?"

A small test for Reggie. If he didn't have a map, she would ask him to find one for them.

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

Reggie was able to keep up with Seo, matching her walking speed. The Padawan watched as she was casually able to fit in with the crowd, trying his best to keep up and do the same.

When asked if he had a guide for the area, the Padawan couldn't help but respond with an low pitched "uhhhh". He didn't have a map or anything but that could be quickly fixed. He took a look around the area, searching for a free use terminal. After spotting one, Reggie quickly parted from Seo, giving the Knight a little heads up about where he was going.

When the Padawan arrived at the terminal he quickly checked to see if there was any form of a map on it. The "Welcome to the wheel" page appeared first, Reggie scrolling past the others that didn't pertain to what he was looking for. When he finally found a map under the the "Guides" section. Taking out his datapad, the Padawan uploaded the free use map onto his portable device.

Swiftly returning to Seo after it was downloaded, Reggie showed her the fresh map on his device.

"Here we go. Sorry to keep you waiting."

[member="Seo Linn"]

Her ability had nothing to do with the Force at all, but training from her people and family. Those from Lorrd were often used to be spies and assassins. Seo could be used in either role and not touch the Force. However, that was just a bonus for her. She still relied far more on technology and physical or logical ways to accomplish something.

Even though she was any official master for Reggie, when the opportunity came to train another person, she wasn't going to run from the chance. Even if it was only common sense that was passed along, it was still something.

She had already seen where the terminal was located and it took Reggie only a few seconds longer. He ran off to get the information needed and came back to her with it. Waving off his apology, there was a look of approval in her eyes.

Looking at the map over his shoulder as he showed it to her, she reached out a hand to scroll in a bit. It would now show greater detail to the area they were in with the shops and other services offered.

"Do you want to start looking in the fighter pits even though we essentially said she wasn't likely to be found there. It is possible she could be there as a companion of a fighter."

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

The Padawan thought about going to the fighter pits first as he looked at the map with the Knight, thinking of the possibility of the sister being a companion to a fighter. It wouldn't take as long to find out if she's at the pits than in one of the casino's, so they could possibly save themselves some time if they find her at the arena.

"We can do that. It could save us some time seeing how much easier it would be to find her in an arena over a casino. That's my train of thought anyway."

Reggie located the arena on the map and offered the datapad to Seo so she could take a better look at it. He began to wonder how much money he would need to get in, if any. What Reggie brought should be enough, but you never know sometimes. He's never been to a battle arena before so he didn't actually know how it works exactly. That would be something the Padawan would worry about if it got to that point though.

[member="Seo Linn"]

Looking at the map on the datapad Reggie held out to her, she made a mental path in her mind and handed it back to him. When she looked up, Seo looked around to gauge the flow of traffic around them. Her eyes came back to her companion quickly and looked him up and down.

"With a slight change of clothing, you could fit in as an apprentice to a fighter or one just starting out and looking to make a name for himself."

Her words could be taken as mean, but that wasn't how she intended them. They more something akin to observation than anything else.

"Getting into the fighting area shouldn't be an issue. The area where fights can be observed, it's the part where the fighters are that prove to be more difficult. Why I suggest a change of clothes for you."

A mind trick or two wouldn't hurt, but this wasn't the time to mention the use of that skill. If they needed it she would use it. If Reggie did not already know it, then she would attempt to show him how it was accomplished.

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

Reggie didn't take any offense from what was said, understanding that she had a point. He thought over playing the role of a fighter and tried to think about how effective he would be. While he's not the best fighter, he could hold his own when in a scrap.

"playing the role as an ambitious, young fighter should be easy enough. As you said though, getting into the fighting area may be difficult."

If they had to, using the force to convince their way in was a option. In truth though, the Padawan preferred not to use any mind tricks unless absolutely necessary. Messing with a person's mind wasn't his thing, whether it was small or not. Again though, if they needed it to get the job done then it would be used. Hopefully his new clothes that they would soon get was a good enough pass.

"I'm sure we'll get in one way or another though."

[member="Seo Linn"]

Nodding when he agreed he could play the role of an aspiring fighter. She took a hold of his arm unless he pulled away and started to guide him in the direction they wanted to go. This move would indicate to anybody watching that she was his manager for the ring and in control of the situation. He was young enough that if he pulled away or resisted her hold, it could be seen as him trying to rebel against being managed.

Nobody attempted to stop them on their route to the fighting area until they went to go back to the area where the fighters were getting ready. Here a guard moved to block their entry. Without using the Force she attempted to get them in explaining Reggie was an aspiring fighter. They were directed to an area where several other young people were gathered and not allowed to go into the back.

Deciding to follow instructions, she would start heading in the direction indicated.

"Have you seen any gear or anything you feel like you need?"

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

The Padawan was taken aback for a bit as his arm was taken and pulled away. At first, Reggie's instincts made him pull his arm back slightly, but he didn't show much more resistance when he realized that it was Seo that grabbed his arm. He tried to keep up as she guided him to their direction. It wasn't until Seo explained to the guards that he was an aspiring fighter that he understood that she was taking the position of manager for him. Reggie took note of his surroundings as they were directed to the area where others had gathered.

When he was asked by the Knight if there was any gear that he felt like he needed, he quickly responded back.

"Hmm. The only thing i'll probably need is a sword and some light armor, which I can probably get before I enter the arena. Oh, that reminds me."

Reggie stopped in his tracks, grabbing his lightsaber and quickly putting it in his bag with his datapad and handed it to Seo, if she'd accept that is. He spoke softly so no one could try to listen into their conversation

"I don't think anyone would be happy if they saw that I had a lightsaber with me."

[member="Seo Linn"]

All kinds of people were present, even Force users that openly displayed their lightsabers. Understanding what Reggie meant though, she accepted his items and nodded when he said he should probably acquire some armour and a sword.

"Do you know how to use a sword?"

Like the crowd watching the matches, there were various forms of fighting to participate. Hand to hand, to blasters and other kinds of weapons. Some of them even Seo had never seen before.

If he didn't know how to fight at all, then they might have some issues. Not wanting to think or assume though, she waited to hear his answer as her eyes looked across the items that could be borrowed and bought.

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

"I have trained with a sword a bit just in case I needed one over my lightsaber."

The Padawan stretched his arms as he looked around, noticing some equipment that may suit him better. Reggie quickly walked over to the equipment, putting on some armor that wouldn't weigh him down too much. This was made up of a breastplate, shoulder pads, and some guards that would cover his legs. Not the best armor in the room but was something that wouldn't slow him down either. He paid for the items that weren't for free himself without thinking.

Then, Reggie reached for what had really caught his eye. He had picked up a metal pole that was in the corner and being overlooked by other fighters. The pole made it to his shoulders when he stood next to it to check it's height. He picked it up and spun it around in his hands to test out the weight and see if this would work. When he was satisfied, he walked back over to Seo.

"I can use this as a staff though. While it's a bit shorter than what I've practiced with, I can make it work."

Reggie had been working on his skill with a staff for awhile now, seeing staffs as a good non-lethal weapon if made with the right materials and used by the right person. They can still be used lethally, but give you more options to disarm an opponent than a lightsaber would.

After awhile, he realized that he had gathered his equipment without asking Seo if it she thought it was a good idea. He realized that he should have asked the Knight first.

"I mean, that's if you think its a good idea."
