Many years ago there was an alchemist of untold expertise, a woman who had created artifacts of pure destruction just for the sake of expanding her own experience in Alchemy. She had simply been interested in seeing how far she could go, where the line of her ability would end and if she could possibly put herself above the various infamous Sith Alchemists of old.

Sorzus Syn, Dathka Graush, Naga Sadow, Plagueis and Sidious.

And then she went and skyrocketed across time and space, putting all of those - except maybe Plagueis - to shame and created Daesumnor, Stealer of Souls.

In a Galaxy plagued by eternal living Sith Lords who enjoying to transport their souls across time and space? Daesumnor was a creation made out of necessity, to trap the enemies of the Hegemony when they were becoming increasingly annoying.

Daesumnor, stealer of souls. It was capable of ripping out the soul of a dying man and making it impossible for him to escape death, a troubling prospect for one who was accustomed for death to be only a minor nuisance. Kata’nari, sentient sword, able to reconstruct and replicate any alchemical effect it touches.

Both of them in his position, yet only one was truly his.

Perhaps it was time to take advantage of Kata’nari’s core principle.

The Sith Lord sat in the middle of his meditation chamber, Daesumnor on one side and Kata’nari on the other. With the palm of his hand he touched the bare blade of the Sithspawn blade and spoke to it.

‘Kata’nari.’

The Kata'nari could feel it, the presence of his bearer, [member="Jared Ovmar"]. If Kata'nari was a thing to be owned, then Ovmar was his owner. The Kata'nari had long been asleep, waiting for someone to bring him to use, waiting for a moment to do something with it's life. The tyranny of being completely immobile. If only his stupid creator had thought to give him legs.

"Ovmar. What for do you come to me?
What desire do you seek?
Shall the taste of blood my blade make wet
Or do you merely wish to talk, as you play with your pet?"

Time was relative.

Ovmar had found out about this simple truth ages ago, though from the perspective of the Galaxy at large only a few years had truly passed, six, seven years and yet… ages. He felt older than ever before, feeling the burden of knowledge pressing down on him.

Knowledge.

It had seemed so simple in the past, learn as much as possible, understand what the Galaxy was all about and what the Universe had to offer. But you don’t realize what it is you are truly learning until was already too late.

Would he have stopped? If he had known about the costs?

Probably not.

The Lord of the Fringe had always been an idiot when it came to his own self-preservation, it had given him certain boons and a plethora of issues to work through every day of the week. Most of which had to do with soul si-

Not the time to talk about that perhaps.

Instead he addressed Kata’nari, telling it exactly what he needed from it.

‘Nothing so simple, Kata’nari. I wish for you to study an artifact which is currently in my possession. It is capable of permanently ending threats that need ending. I want you to share with me all that you learn and after that copy its functionality.’

It would need resources to properly copy the properties, songsteel and perhaps a blister trap crystal of the Leviathan of Corbos. All things that he already had or could be acquired with enough preparation.

If a sword was capable of sighing, the Kata'ari did so inwardly.

"What you ask is an easy task
Though for such power it will not be fast
Just let my blade touch the other's edge
And I'll study it's making, but I need a pledge
That I'll not stay here, forgotten to time
But join you as you indulge in crime."

The Sithspawn Sword did not consider this a difficult task - easy, it called it - and the only commodity that was in question, was the commodity of time. One of the few things that he had in spades, perhaps the only resource that would never run out for him.

So it wasn’t a difficult decision to simply nod, before realizing that the sword didn’t exactly have eyes or any other way to see his gesture.

“Done.” the Sith Lord would add for clarification.

Then he would take hold of the hilt of Daesumnor and place it on top of Kata’nari, allowing the Sithspawn to touch the steel of the Soul Stealer and do that which it had been made to do all those years ago.

His eyes closed and he let his own self detach from the corporeal, not-eyes wandering across the short space and watching to see what Kata’nari would do, studying the intricate process that would allow it to study deep into the history of the sword.

Watch.

As it would start relaying the information needed, before it would copy the desired functionality onto itself.

The reply was made, the Kata'nari feeling the crime lord's response even before he uttered it. With satisfaction he waited, until the blade of Daesumnor was placed upon his own. [member="Jared Ovmar"] would feel the Force coming from the blade, the Kata'nari using an old obscure power passed through blood by the Kiffar to let his mind travel back in time.

"Though many hands this blade has passed
And against illusionists has it slashed
Ending his life in a way no other blade could
But it's secrets will be soon understood
Watching it's history I shall learn
To obtain the strength for which you yearn
By changing myself to gain this power
So that many souls may I devour."

The words rang in the mentalists mind, a bond forming that would grow in time.

If the Sith Lord had any opinion on the consistent usage of the AABB rhyming scheme he did not make it public, that being said… sometimes mixing it up would probably be a bit cool. Nothing too fancy of course, perhaps an ABAB somewhere, perhaps (if the sword wished to be really cool) it could consider doing a wicked DABCBAD riff as a solo piece and tribute to the glory of the Sith… or something.

Ovmar closed his eyes and looked closely at the inner-workings of the sword, how it perceived the history of the sword through touch (much akin to psychometry, which was an interesting thing to note).

Perhaps he would even learn a thing or two about alchemy during this session.

Something more than simply being able to make a ball glossy or shiny.

Deeper and deeper into the history of the blade did the Kata'nari see, though not into it's creation yet. As if he could feel the displeasure of the Crime Lord in his voice the songsteel blade changed it's course.

"I can see another, the Lord of the Blaster
He wears a mask, presuming to hide
The nature of himself to the galaxy around him
As if his hiding will deter those strong enough to be his foe
Though powerful he is no head, but only a limb
Of She who with her power will bide
Waiting to unleash ultimate disaster."

Jared nodded, the sword was referencing to Jacen Cavill. Owner of Blas-Tech Industries, pretty eloquent way of putting things - who could have known the sword wasn’t that bad with words? The she was probably Merrill, she had always been the one who enjoyed having someone on her personal leesh.

Oh she’d deny it and Cavill would scoff at the suggestion of being a mere dog. But to the rest the parallel between them and Vader/Sidious was pretty obvious. The fact that both Vader and Jacen were alchemical ‘monsters’ these days made it only more interesting.

His eyes still closed the Sith Lord journeyed deeper into Daesumnor with Kata’nari.

This was a good start, but they weren’t nearly done.
