What took you so long…

Nubica Felidae

We are well and truly forked...
She allowed him to grab a pack or two first. She emptied a water bottle and started on a second. Then she took the closest silvery packet and emptied it of its contents. If it had a flavour it must have been ambrosia — for nothing ever tasted as good.

And she resisted the urge to eat all of the bars. Keeping the food down was key, and so she ate a second before sipping her drink.

“I’m OK. You did a pretty good job on me back there. I can hold on until the medics take a look. And if you’ll permit me, I insist you take a nap. I’ll be OK here, and when you’re refreshed, we can swap over. I’m just a little paranoid until we get back into Alliance territory. OK?”

She smiled and stifled a yawn. For sure she was tired, but she was a Jedi. A few hours without sleep would not be the worst thing. Plus she could see if the ship had any candy bars and get first choice.

So as she sat, she began to write up her mission debrief. And chewed on the biggest bar of caramel and chocolate she'd ever eaten in her life.

“Alright,” he replied plainly, before flashing an affectionate smile. He took another minute or two to polish off some more calorific packs, before getting a good litre of fluids down. Everything hurt. He’d suffered far greater individual wounds in battle. A Sith Acolyte had opened him from sternum to hip on Praktih and he had been without the Force to try and lessen the pain on that day. Yet the overall pain and ache from every corner of his body was overwhelming.

Jacen’s mask of bravery slipped for a moment as permitted himself a small look of regret at Nubica. It was his fault she had become embroiled in this mess. Yet he had to accept that it had been her decision to come and they had come through the experience together. He grimaced as he pulled his legs up onto the chair so he could cross them.

“If you need me, you’ll have to give me a good shake,” he said drearily. As his eyes closed his focused turned in on itself. She might sense his influence in the Force retreat as his heart rate and breathing slowed. A mask of serenity replaced the grimace as he fell into the trance and turned his body towards healing the abuse it had suffered.
