What lurks in the shadows.

Naboo

Theed, the capital city of Naboo and seat of the Monarch.

A city written in legend and history. Time could erase the evidence of what occurred on the plains of Naboo and within the city itself, but it could not erase the memory - still etched into the stones as if the events had only occurred yesterday. The city had been the site of the reconciliation and subsequent alliance of the people of Naboo and the Gungans who share the planet with them. That was many, many, years ago though, and time had all but erased any evidence of that history. The planet had come under the control of the Techno Union, and there were still many hostile beings that did not want to be under the rule of the Techno Union.

Word had been received of a group of rebels based within Theed, a group that had done nothing but resist the Union's rule since the planet had been placed under their influence.

That was why the Miraluka, Desios Denaan, sat in the corner of a shadowed Cantina awaiting his S.O. [member=Jennifer Blanchard]. He had requested her presence on the mission that he had undertaken, if only because he could use the company as well as the backup. If the group had caused enough trouble to the Union, enough so that they had sent a member of the Obsidian Order to investigate, then it was likely they posed a significant threat. He wouldn't be able to do it alone, and he was not afraid to ask for help - if only to increase his own chances of survival.

He did not find the idea of taking lives ideal, but he would do what he needed to do to prevent greater loss than had already occurred. These thoughts took the forefront of his mind, as he allowed his awareness to extend out and touch the minds of those within the Cantina. It was not likely that they would find the source of his presence, especially with it being as crowded as it was in cantina. It would be easier for his S.O. to find him though, his presence still undimmed light and peace, even amidst all the darkness and chaos that surrounded him.

With the Union working as best as they could to secure the control of the world of Naboo, from the former Protectorate, there was a lot of need for the Obsidian Order to be sent out to the world, sent to work and correct issues, sent to secure assets and assist the droid armies in more advanced tasks. Blanchard was a Savant, a Knight in Network Zillo, one of the builders, a thinker, but for her, a computer expert.

She was called out for a new reason this time, though, to help out with a mission [member="Desios Denaan"] was undertaking. As a leadership member of the same network, she was more than happy to come out to help.

Making her way to the cantina, in her armor, helmet removed, and bright orange hair a contrast to the black she wore, she nodded. “Denaan.” Of course, this was Jenn, so it was followed with a smile, since they weren’t on any battlefield. “How can I assist you today?”

He felt her presence before he saw her, which wasn't hard with all the diluted moralities of those within the Cantina, hers stood out above the rest. Her presence seemed to be that of neutrality, following neither side of the Force more than the other, but rather doing what was necessary when it became necessary. He could not, and would not, fault her for that. Besides, she was kind enough to him, and he had a degree of trust in her, so he saw no reason to fault her.

However, the Techno Union itself, he did not fully trust. He had only recently became inducted into their Obsidian Order, and as such, he still had a great many things to learn and see before he could bring himself to trust their motives and actions fully. He was a Light Sider after all, and he would do what he could to preserve the lives of those that were interrupted by the wars and actions of the Union. He had chosen the Union to be his new home, because of their technological infusion with the Force. They saw the Force in its reality - a weapon to be used to protect and destroy. They did not deny that their were two sides to the Force, and they (so far) seemed not to discriminate on who followed which side.

As her presence drew closer to his own, he was able to make out her form through the Force. She had removed her helmet and had a smile upon her face, which was rare in itself for him. He had never really met her outside of the initial training mission on Naboo. This would only be his second time meeting her in correlation with combat and mission objectives.

"Blanchard," he nodded his head kindly and swept his arm to the seat across from him, it was currently vacant. There was no reason they could enjoy a brief moment of reprieve before they got down to the gritty bits. "I have been ordered to assess and interrupt rebel activity in the city. They have been causing trouble for the Union officials to get in and properly subjugate the citizens of Naboo. It seems as though the people approve of their resistance and as such, they are going to great lengths to protect them. I have been unable to ascertain where exactly they are operating out of, but I have reason to suspect that they are still within the confines of Theed. I do not have any knowledge on whether the Gungans are supplying them with aid or not, though I feel that it would be unwise to ignore their presence in this matter."

There was definitely work to be done. Naboo was working on being claimed, being pulled into the Union, but having been such a stronghold world for the former Protectorate, a nation-state that did not always have the best of relations with the Techno Union, was making it even harder. A world like this? She would be having pockets of resistance for years to come. But that wasn’t necessarily her problem. Locating and working on the infrastructure improvements to this world would be a simple task, making sure the learning centers were in line, and providing an area for locally founded Obsidian Order members would continue for a while, and that was part of what she was doing here.

Net Zillo work, basically.

But today, she was working with one of her charges. Jenn wasn’t necessarily ready to take a student, her muse was faulty sometimes, and while the writer loved the Union, and even more the Order, and this character, so much newness was occurring elsewhere, but Jenn could always assist where she was needed. She was a Savant. It was expected of her. And professional courtesy meant helping everyone out.

But Denaan had promise. She nodded. “The Naboo have been working tirelessly to keep the Union, and our predecessors out of their space. The Protectorate has been a very solid wall for us, and attacks on their worlds have been tricky.” She squinted at the mention of Gungans. Freaking swamp dwelling luddites. “Doesn’t surprise me. I can help with computer systems, do you have a course you want to take?” She could always observer, that was going to help the new members grow.
