It had been a while since she and Shan had done anything together. Hell, it had been a bit since they had last spoken. That having been when Katherine had returned from the rejuvenation ritual, to let her fellow Jedi know she was all right.

Shan’s reactions to just seeing her were a memory Katherine would cherish. Rare as it was to get the Mirialan that baffled. But then there had been nothing, other than the brief crossing of paths. Until at least, Shan reached out asking if she wanted to tag along on one of his ‘cultural trips’.

Katherine hadn’t hesitated for a second in accepting the offer.

She had always wondered what Shan actually did whenever he ventured out into the galaxy. Be a fantastic doctor and healer of course, but it was quite the opposite to most times when Katherine ventured out in the galaxy.

For as much as they were trained by the same Master, involved with the same groups of friends, their paths had greatly diverged since becoming Knights.

That, and Katherine just missed him a lot. She held many fond memories of training together, or just how freaking nice and welcoming Shan had been when she had first been introduced by Kahlil. Especially given everything she was going through, and would go through not long after that time.

It’s what made him essentially a big brother in the redhead’s eyes.

Although, that wasn’t entirely accurate these days, was it?

Katherine couldn’t hold back an amused snicker when they had met up. Shan was still not quite used to seeing her standing so much taller. A fact that Katherine felt would continue to be amusing for a good long while.

They had opted to take her ship for this trip, given the fact that Shan only used an Interceptor for his travelling. Something that, even if Katherine didn’t have her wings, she still wouldn’t have been able to fit in.

Katherine was all smiles as she plopped down into the pilot’s seat, gesturing for Shan to take the co-pilot's.

So tell me Shan, what exactly is a typical trip/adventure out into the galaxy for you?

By the Force. Katherine couldn't help but surprise Shan everytime she saw. Even if he had felt like he had gotten used to the change in height, it still stunned him to see her. But it also delighted him to see his old friend and fellow Knight. She had been one of the constants in his Padawanship. She had been a solid support for him, like he had been for her.

Which is why as soon as they met, Shan did something that was perhaps...uncharacteristic for the normally quite quiet and subdued Mirialan. He ran straight up towards the Valkyrie and wrapped his arms around her in the tightest hug he could, giving Katherine as much affection as he could. The Mirialan had gotten a lot more comfortable at being more outgoing this way. And they hadn't seen each other in a long while. They had both grown in their own ways. Even if...Shan hadn't grown much in the height department at least.

With that being said...It was no surprise they'd take Katherine's ship. Whilst his interceptor could fit two, that was mostly two regular sized people. He felt like Katherine would be hitting her head on the ceiling and he didn't want that happening. So instead, they made their way towards Katherine's ship, settling himself down in the passenger seat.

"More often than not? I just go around the streets, giving out food and water where I can. Try and care for people as well as I can. I...try not to get too attached. I know I can't save everyone on the streets. I do...try to put into a volunteering shift at clinics or hospitals where I can. But I can't spend long. It doesn't give me time to get close to people anymore. It sucks. I feel like I'm becoming a hermit."

He shrugged his shoulders afterwards, as he rested his chin atop the palm, turning his attention over towards Katherine as he kept a smile on his face.

"How about yourself? What's the great Katherine Holt been up to? Any fun missions? Fun interactions? Any cute boys? Or girls? I should be fair."

The teasing came naturally to him. Katherine was one of the few people he could relax around. Something he felt like he could be a typical person with. It didn't come with the stress of talking to someone who was higher ranked than him, nor did it come with the responsibility of having to be a good role model for someone younger than him.

Katherine went to immediately speak, already having a mission or two in mind to regale the Mirialan, but she paused when she realized what his final query was.

The redhead raised an eyebrow. “Are you…fishing for information? Shan, fishing for gossip?” Katherine placed a hand against her heart, her face an expression of faux-astonishment.

Who are you, and what have you done with the stoic Green Bean?” The redhead’s lips twitched into a small smirk, before bursting out into a small laugh.

She knew Shan well enough; for long enough, to know it took time and a good deal of trust for him to feel comfortable like this around someone. It always warmed Katherine’s heart to know she was one such person.

That’s none of your business mister, a girl doesn’t tell.” She replied, only for her attention to divert a few seconds later. Her mind lingering on Torin Emberlain Torin Emberlain for a few moments. “Besides, I certainly wouldn’t call him cute.

Realization suddenly struck Katherine, and she just stared ahead, eyes slightly wide. “I just said that outloud...didn’t I?

Her cheeks were already burning red before Shan confirmed it.

"What can I say? The Galaxy has changed me. I'm...more curious about those kind of things now."

Shan shrugged his shoulders for a moment. He had spent his teen years and his entire Padawanship, not entirely caring about relationships. Yes, there had been him and Colette...but that didn't feel as real as he thought. They had the same interests on the surface level, but on a deeper level, they had wanted different things. It had made Shan believe that relationships were quite pointless for him. That didn't mean he wasn't curious about other people's relationships. Of course he was.

Which meant that Katherine letting it slip that there was someone caused the Mirialan to break out into a teasing grin. Katherine probably expected him to say something about it, to poke fun at her and tease. Yet...he mostly stayed quiet, turning his attention out of the viewpoint.

"Yes. You did. And if he's not cute, he must be special. I'm glad to hear that."

And with that, Shan rested his chin atop of his knuckles, just watching the stars go by with the grin on his face.

Indeed he is…

That time, Katherine was able to keep her thoughts inside. Force knows she had just given Shan one mighty bit of ammo for potential teasing. But it seemed the benevolent doctor had opted to be merciful to her.

Although, the redhead had no doubt Shan would find a future opportunity to use that tidbit of information.

Katherine smiled, shaking her head for a moment before distracting herself by checking the ship’s navicomputer. They had jumped into hyperspace a little while ago, and if the computer was right, they still had a ways to go before arrival.

Got any details of the world or potential people we’re going to meet on this planet? Or is this you just ‘winging’ it and seeing what we can find there?

Shan didn't say much. Not yet at least. He was in his own world, with his own thoughts. Considering the topic at hand, Shan partly wished he hadn't asked but he had. Plus it seemed like Katherine was happy so that was good. Though he was brought back into reality when Katherine asked if he had any details on the world, and he shrugged his shoulders.

"I wing it. If I try to find out details about the world, I'll end up getting biased. I'll want to look for where the people who are treated the worst might be, and that'll indirectly influence me. So...I prefer to juts show up on the planet, and see where the Force leads me. It'll lead me to those who actually need me. Not the people I think need me."

In the past, Shan would have always needed a plan. He wouldn't go ahead with something unless he had a perfect plan put together, with backups in case things went wrong. Yet Shan didn't have anything like that now. He just went with the flow. Worrying about things he couldn't understand wasn't important to him. Not anymore. It wasn't something he could solve.

I thought winging it was my job.” The joke slipped out from Katherine almost instinctively. She tried to play it off straight, her face a neutral mask. But it was impossible, and her lips immediately curled into a small grin.

And here I thought you were one to always meticulously plan things.” She continued, a teasing tone in her voice. In turn though, it was nice to see that Shan was changing in that way. Not that she ever thought poorly of that mindset. Heck, it was that very thing that kept Katherine on track at points during her training.

The number of times either Shan or Kahlil had to go find her, all because she had spontaneously decided to bury herself in a book in the Jedi Archives…

His rationale made sense, wanting to essentially beeline it to those that were more in need of help. There was plenty of it out in the galaxy, and no doubt a temptation for someone like Shan.

So tell me, what have you been up to lately? Anything crazy?

"Hey. You don't have ownership of wing related things. Same way I don't have ownership over anything that is green."

Shan kept a cheeky little grin on his face as he checked over things. Of course there was still some things he would meticulously plan. Whenever there was going to be some kind of battle, Shan had to go over his plans to make sure there was going to be good supply lines and that the triage tents were all dealt with. Of course, none of that mattered when it came to a casual event like this. Well "casual" was most definitely one way to explain it all.

"Haven't been up to anything worth mentioning lately. Went to Diarchy space I suppose. I've attempted to see if we can get a Temple there. We'll see how that goes. Been catching up with Lily. It's been nice to see her again. I'm jealous of her strength. Same as you."

He checked over a few of the screens, trying to make sure everything was going well. It wasn't entirely his ship but Shan was one who couldn't help but worry about things, as much as he was trying to act as relaxed as he could.

"I was planning on building an Orphanage on Onderon but...that plan has also fell through as well. A lot of my plans seem to be falling through. Maybe that's why I've stopped planning things as often anymore."

Was there anything else exceptionally crazy that he had done? Shan tilted his head, staring out of the window as he tried to figure out what else there could be. His life had been exceptionally boring recently. He wanted to get out there more, to build more connections but at the same time...He was content with his life right now.

"What else is there...Oh. I gave up my last name. I don't want anymore attachments to my father anymore. He's done nothing that'[s worth me being considered his son anymore. So...now I'm just Shan. No-one else. No-one special. Well...that's a lie. I'm Doctor Shan. Knight Shan. But that's it. I have no family anymore which I am...okay with."

Technically he did still have family. There were the Nobles, even if they weren't his family biologically or through law. He still had such strong bonds with them. But he wasn't a Noble. He'd never be one. And that was fine with him. He'd fit out like a sore thumb in that family...or more like a green thumb.

Katherine chuckled, a smile at her face in response to Shan’s response to her joke.

Hey, don’t sell yourself short. You might not be as physically strong as either myself or Lilly. But you’re stronger in other ways that I could ever be.” Shan’s proficiency with Healing was probably the biggest in Katherine’s opinion. Yeah, she could heal well enough but it was very rudimentary healing. Compared to the Mirialan who seemed to have a natural gift towards it.

The redhead leaned into her chair, partially watching Shan as he spoke and moved. She could tell he wasn’t entirely relaxed, but it was just how he was. Even now he was wanting to make sure everything was okay.

You big ol’ worrywort.

Sometimes plans do fall through, it’s an unfortunate reality that is the rollercoaster of life. Whether it be a single thing, or multiple in a row, you just gotta roll with it.” That was at least Katherine’s opinion anyway.

As Shan talked about his name, Katherine’s expression became serious. She had wondered why he’d seemingly out of the blue stopped signing off his messages without the ‘Pavond’. The redhead looked over towards him, a reassuring smile on her face.

I know that feeling…far too well.

After all, ‘Katherine Holt’ hadn’t really existed originally. Merely a name given to a personality the Sith had manufactured. Fortunately, their plans for the original; for Lorelei, never came to fruition. And for the longest time, Katherine struggled with whether she should keep the name, or toss it aside due to its origin. But then she held the remnants of Lorelei, made a promise as what remained of her dissipated.

A promise to never let what the Sith had done to her; to them both, to dictate who they could be.

The ship computer began to beep repeatedly, breaking Katherine out of her thoughts. Her eyes quickly snapped over to a nearby monitor. “Ah, looks like we’ve finally arrived.” She said, pressing a few buttons. “In three…two…one.

A second later the ship rumbled as it exited out of hyperspace, appearing before the planet of Entralla.

I’m going to run a quick scan through the database, see what’s known about this place.

"Doubtful. You and Lily have the skills to stand out. To be seen as strong Jedi. Those who can hold back the Darkness. I'm the kind of Jedi who blends into the background. I'm there, but people don't realise. Which...is fine by me. It helps that you and Lily have faces made for being front and centre anyway.

He shrugged his shoulders at that, focusing on something. What it was, he didn't even know himself. All Shan had ever done when his plans had fell through was keep rolling with it. Kept moving. Sure, sometimes he could be stubborn. He'd stick his head in the ground with some of his plans and refuse to change them, but sooner or later even the ground had to shift against all of the weight that was going against it.

"...I'm not sure if our situations are similar Kat. And...I don't mean it in a bad way."

Of course, Shan knew the story about Katherine. But he didn't think of it as who Katherine used to be. Katherine had always been...Katherine. The other person who was used for her? That...That was a different person altogether. But Shan wasn't like that. Shan Pavond and Just Shan were still the same person. It was just the removal of a last name that was the difference between the pair.

Either way, Shan reached out to put his hand on Katherine's shoulder, giving her a small smile. It might have been fake. It might have been real. Shan wasn't sure himself. He had faked so many smiles that he wasn't sure when they were real anymore. But he was snapped out of that thought as they appeared at Entralla.

"Check the positioning of the moon to the planet."

That was the first thing Shan said, before he got up to his feet and already started to check over his supplies to make sure he'd have what he thought they'd need to do for treatment on the planet.

"If they're having their lunar festival, there's a chance there'll be a lot of injuries related to crowds. Crush injuries, dehydration is a possibility...Maybe potentially poisoning or overdoses from hallucinogenics so they can experience their myths in person..."

It seemed as if Shan already knew plenty about the planet as his hands moved through the bag as if by muscle memory. The Shan now compared to the Shan that had been sat in the seat were almost like two different people. After all, Shan took his medical work far more seriously than some might have expected.

The redhead turned to fulfill Shan’s request, but Katherine couldn’t help but also glance over and watch as the Mirialan jumped into action. Despite his apparent claim to try ‘winging it’ when it came to his adventures, it seemed Shan still couldn’t resist researching things ahead of time.

If there’s one thing that’ll never change, it’s that.

Katherine activated her ship’s scanners and had it check the position of the moon relative to the planet, and sure enough it was at its closest point passing by.

Yep, looks like the planet is right in the midst of celebrating their…’Lunar Night’ celebration?” She said, leaving the question open if Shan wanted to answer it. Katherine got the ship settled on course to land at Entralla’s capital; Nexus City.

The way you’re describing it, sounds like trying to help a whole lot of partygoers, who just came out of a nightclub having just had an all night bender, only on a much larger scale.

Despite the words, Katherine couldn’t help but sound at least a little bit amused at the idea.

"Think of it as an all planet nightclub. Lunar Night is celebrated across the entire planet. But the one that's specifically going to be a problem for us is going to be the Parade of Ghosts. There will be a lot of people partying and having fun, but not knowing their limits. And plenty of people who are going to have trampled injuries. I'm...unsure how their medical system works on the planet, so I don't know if they'll have plenty of emergency services to deal with it."

If anything, Shan sounded disappointed that he hadn't done more research on the planet. As if he hadn't already done enough. Though if they were going through the Lunar Night...By the Force, Shan was going to need so many extra pair of hands. His mind was already focused on how he was going to try and settle treatment areas...

"...Sorry if you've been saying something. I get into my head too much when it comes to emergencies."
