On Ukatis, having a child out of wedlock was considered taboo. Not knowing who the father was would be positively scandalous. Jonyna, of course, was not expected to conform to their customs.

Cora might've been exposed to more core-centric ways of thinking, but she still felt protective over her friend.

"I understand. Should you ever decide you want to know, I will personally pay a visit to all candidates."

Already, her mind was filing through the process. How she'd obtain the nightclub's holofeed and cross reference it with the Zeltronian database of IDs, and then -

Well, she didn't need to keep that train of thought running. Not when Jonyna had already decided that it wasn't a road she wanted to go down.

"Right. Who else have you told?"

"You'd be the first." Jonyna chuckled. "I plan on telling Val when I get the chance. Gonna need that maternity leave after all." She let out a playful, if weary chuckle. "I'll try my best to keep in contact, and keep working, but don't expect me to be fighting on the front lines like I usually do. Make sure to tell Carnifex he's a nerd next time you see him."

"I think if you took a single step toward the frontlines, both Valery and I would drag you back," she mused. "And of course. Anything you need, let me know."

There was a time where Cora might've become a mother. Younger than she was ready to. In a way, she had a role in the Ukatian succession crisis.

That thought wouldn't be helpful to Jonyna's situation, so she dispelled it.

"So…" Cora leaned back in her seat. "Are you hoping for boys or girls? Or a mix of both?"

"Honestly? Boys. I can handle rowdy play fighters, but girls are just gonna bicker." Jonyna figured. "I don't have time to keep up with childhood grudges. Boys will just punch each other and let it go."

Then again...

"...but a girl would be easier to understand on my end, when they get older. I dunno." She let out a sigh, looking to Cora with a guilty smile. "They need a dad, and I'm gonna need help. You think I should get back with Jenn? Taam?"

"Tell that to my sister who pulled out of a chunk of my hair when I accidentally borrowed her favorite brush," she muttered. Still there was a fondness to her mild complaint, as if she were recalling how heartening it had been to grow up with many siblings.

Regardless of who they were, she knew that Jonyna's children would be loved.

Cora sat back and frowned in thought. "I'm biased towards Jenn; she's like an aunt to me and I know how deeply she values family. What is Taam like?"

"If I could, I'd just have both, but that's the selfish part of me, I guess." Jonyna groaned. "He's...gentle. Reminds me of my dad, in that way." She paused, letting out a snort. "Don't make that weird, I swear. I mean in the sense that like..." Rolling her shoulders, Jonyna tried to find the words that escaped her.

"Taam and I met on New Cov, he was back from some self imposed exile after losing a paddie to the dark side. First thing I did was shoot my shot, and..." She blushed slightly, hiding behind those blazing locks. "We were pretty much flirting from the moment we reached the temple. Don't tell Val. I understands how much I've lost, how it feels to be...broken."

Jonyna's guard dropped, more than Cora had ever seen it.

"I miss my friends Cora. The people who I knew before I went into the ice. Taam understands that in a way I can't put to words. He's patient, eternally calm, made me feel loved in a way I hadn't before. Every battle we fought together..." She sighed. "I never had that with Jenn. I wanted to, and I tried, but...it always felt like we were battle buddies by circumstance, not by choice. I fought with her on Onderon against the Crusaders, but when the Crusaders came to Cathar, she wasn't there."

It was easy to forget that Jonyna came from a different time. Cora would never understand what it would be like to find herself frozen in carbonite, only to wake up thousands of years later. Everyone she'd ever known, long dead. Nothing familiar.

It must've been profoundly lonely.

"It sounds like you have a connection with Taam that you didn't have with Jenn. You feel safe with him, then? He treats you well?"

"Of course." Jonyna nodded, "I've always hated sleeping alone. Just reminds me of when I was on the run from the Empire as a kid. Just him holding me at night...makes me sleep so much better."

It was hard to put to words the kind of love she needed.

"What about you? You've never told me much about Makko. Come on, tell me all the juicy details." She couldn't help but tease. Easier to shift the focus off her, and let her gather her thoughts.

She wanted to find the words, but...

She wasn't sure she could say them without scaring Cora off.

Cora's smile came slowly, but it was warm. If Jonyna felt safe around Taam - that was good.

"It sounds like you've made your choice, then. I look forward to meeting him.”

The conversation shifted gears into a place that was, perhaps, predictable. Cora had still been caught off guard, evidence by her flushed cheeks.

"O-oh, well…about Makko Vyres Makko Vyres ? We didn't like each other at all when we first met as Padawans. Eventually, we started to see…different qualities in one another."

It was the polite way of saying we made out angrily until we actually started liking eachother. The scandal of it all.

"We ended up getting married on Zeltros, if you can believe it. Just us."

Cora's focus had gradually drifted towards the room's singular window. Her smile seemed faraway. "He's working on restoring communications. Always good with tech. Better than me, at any rate.”

"Well, I take it he's not from around here, is he? I haven't had the chance to meet him, so tell me everything. I need to silently judge him despite never meeting him after all!" Jonyna smirked, "Is he tall? Short? Hairy? On the chest? Downstairs? Come on Cora, paint me a picture here!"

She was mostly just teasing, but there was a bit of protectiveness in her tone. Cora was someone who didn't need more drama than her life already had.
