What are your favorite alien species to play?

Echani and oddly enough Sith Pureblood, but I don't get much of a chance for the Pureblood one

Honestly? I've played one alien, total, in Star Wars. And that's a shi'ido with not even 200 posts. I don't normally dial into the aliens a ton, to be honest. But i've also played primarily mandalorians.

I mean, I have a Miralukan alt, but calling them and things like other very near humans like Echani and Epicanithix 'alien' always seems a bit of a stretch to me. To me 'alien' is something distictly non-human, like a shi'ido or Hutt or Ithorian... But if the 95% human style races are game, I've always wanted to write an Echani. Just never got around to it.

I like writing angry lizard people (even if I don't write them as often as I want to). So far on Chaos I've only written custom-Chaos-species lizardmen though. Gonna have to make a Trandoshan or Barabel one of these days... Or a Vong. Not really as lizardy, but I've wanted to write one of those for awhile.

The closest I've gotten to writing a Human on this site is a Miralukian. So, here we go:

Miralukians are a fun species to play as. Seeing everything through the force is kind of tricky narratively. But it's fun.

Columi are hard to write, because they are as a species substantially smarter than most other things. It is tricky to write a hyper-intelligence being. That being said, Olom is my best villain.

Droids are decidedly not human, and I do enjoy playing them. They aren't aliens, so I'll leave it at the fact that a droid's nature (and it's deviations in that nature) is often compelling to write.

I have one Morseerian who I don't use as often as I should. He's fun. Not being able to breath in most atmospheres is a challenge in PVP, though.

I have one character who is a weird mutant Hutt/Xa Fel hybrid clone thing. I made him mostly out of snark, and have yet to do anything fun with him.

Sugar is a Smoke Demon. he is super spooky, from his fangs to his wingtip shoes.

Frankly, the one species archetype I haven't played around with yet are insects and aquatic species. Both of them work.

I try to look at racial affinities and optimize to fit a certain aesthetic I'm going for. Sex - Zeltron. Science - Ithorian. Politics - Hapan. Scoundrel - Corellian. Furry - Wookiee. Protagonist - Human. Stuff like that. It comes from my days playing DnD where every race had a stat block that made them different. I was a min-maxer and that has stayed with me even now.

I really enjoy writing my Anzat [member="Tiland Kortun"], since he is working specifically to go counter his species' nature. Fun conflict there.
