Private Welcome to the family

It was fairly peaceful in the lone town, far from any major cities on Concord Dawn. The seasons had been good to the crops and only a few gang problems, which was nothing the Mandalorians couldn't handle. However, the peaceful day would soon turn upside down for a small family of five as the day turned into evening, which then turned night.

At the entrance of the town, a group of armoured dar'mandas entered and while that wouldn't be too weird, it was the fact that they did it at night, hiding under cloaks. Walking through the town, with most sleeping or gathered at the local waterhole for the residents, no one questioned or noticed the group. A few times the group was passed by drunk people on their way home, though didn't pay any attention to the armoured group.

Looking down at a datapad, the leader turned right and went down a sidestreet and finally stopped when they were a few yards from the Vizsla family. "You know what to do," said the leader, to which the others nodded and disappeared into the shadows. Standing alone in the street, the lonely Dar'manda casually walked over to the target's house and did three slow knocks.

The chaotic household was not yet at rest as an escaped toddler made a break for it after being informed of her upcoming bedtime. "Catch her!" His wife called as the back of the child's onesie slipped from her grasp while she held the other twin in her arm. Ki'an was placing the final clean plate in the cupboard in the kitchen when he peered around the cupboard door to see the toddler running towards him accompanied by the sound of pattering feet and giggling.

"Really, how far did you think you were going to get?" He asked in his native tongue before chuckling and scooping up the runaway. The Mandalorian returned the rebellious toddler, who avidly protested "No sleep" upon being placed in her crib while her brother made no fuss.

"Daaaad." A small voice would call from another room so Ki'an attended to his eldest daughter. "Yes?" He peered around the door to see the toddler sat in bed holding a book expectantly. It was already past her bedtime but it was difficult to say no but as he was about to take a seat next to her on the bed, knocking alerted him to someone at the door.

For a moment, he hesitated, confused why someone would be calling in at this time. "One moment, sweetie." He told Aerin before leaving to answer the door as Lily likely had her hands full. "Are we expecting anyone?" He asked his wife as he passed the twins' room. It was best to ask, he was known to be absent-minded by his wife. "No." She called in response before adding. "Maybe it's next door. I lent them some credits last week." She suggested.

There was no reason to be concerned, after all, they considered themselves safe. They trusted their neighbours, their town and their community. There was no reason to believe anything could be amiss. The Mandalorian opened the door and offered a friendly smile to the stranger at the door. "Hi, can I help you?" He asked politely.

As soon as Ki'an opened the front door, he was met with a Mandalorian in dark coloured beskar'gam. "You? No, I'm afraid you can't" replied the stranger casually, to which smaller explosions in his children's rooms went off. Right on queue, Ki'an felt a stinging pain in his eyes as he got sprayed with pepper spray. Not only did he get sprayed by pepper, but he also got the air knocked out with a knee to his stomach from the stranger.

Screams could now be heard from Lily as she desperately tried to fight off 3 fully armoured dar'mandas from getting to the twins. The Dar'manda in the door was prepared for Ki'an to fight back but doubted he would be able to counter the sudden assault. If everything went as plan, the leader looked down at Ki'an, "nothing personal, just business" before kicking him in the stomach another time, just for good measure. Lily's scream of pain filled the house, and while Ki'an could see what happened in the twin's room, he could hear the electricity shocking her.

Ki'an felt the stranger's boot pressed harshly down on his chest, with a blaster aimed at his head. Soon the rest of the little dar'manda group appeared in the room Ki'an and the leader was in with three of them carrying one of the three kids. "Move and your kids are dead" threatened the leader while the rest of the dar'mandas left the house with Ki'an and his wife's kids.

Whether Ki'an could see from getting sprayed in his eyes, or even have air enough in his lungs to speak, the leader finally stepped off, backing away and out of the front door, never taking his blaster's aim from Ki'an. Standing in front of the door again with his men, the leader does a mock salute, "Lord Insatious sends his regard" before blasting into the air and away from the city.

The smile quickly faded into a look of concern at the man's answer and the unarmoured Mandalorian quickly moved to shut the door but was soon intercepted by the guest at his door. The combination of the pepper spray and the knee to his abdomen left him crumpled on the floor with his face in his arm, covering his eyes instinctively and groaning from the pain while tears began to stream down his cheeks.

Any calls for his wife to arm herself would likely fall on deaf ears since it sounded like she was indisposed of too and they didn't exactly keep weapons lying around with 3 small children in the house so there were none to hand. He didn't have time to comprehend why they were being attacked or who by. His sole focus was on preventing it but in his current state he was of little help, with no weapons and no vision.

The Mandalorian soon recovered from the knee to the abdomen but was swiftly met by another attack which kept him floored. Now at the mercy of the other Mandalorian, or Dar'manda rather, he began to wonder what business he was on. He had managed to irk several people with the substances and research he had developed and wondered if it was because of that.

Ki'an grunted as he was violently pressed against the floor and through his hazy returning gaze he could make out the barrel of a blaster. "Please..." He breathed, barely a whisper before his gaze shifted to catch a glimpse of his son sleeping peacefully with his head rested on the shoulder of the man who carried him. He was very much the quietest of the three with his elder sister taking charge of the trio. His twin, on the other hand, seemed to have inherited their father's chattiness, or at least attempted to - she still hadn't quite mastered sentences.

Once the other man moved towards the door, Ki'an pushed himself up onto one arm and watched him leave with his slowly recovering eyesight. Lord Insatious? He wondered what he had done to warrant such an attack from a Sith Lord but there was no time to ponder on it. He pushed himself up onto his feet as quickly as he could and ran to the twins' room where Lily lay in a heap on the floor.

The Mandalorian leaned down to help her up but she pushed away his offer and remained on the floor, recovering from the attack. "Forget about me, go after them." She told him and without another word, Ki'an rushed to the locked cupboard where they kept their gear. He slipped into some boots and his upper body armour as quickly as he could and once Lily had recovered enough she placed the jetpack on his back. He opted to forgo any armour below the waist, seeing it as an unnecessary waste of time.

"Go to the Silver Jedi Concord and find Cas Tynen." He told Lily. "Okay..." She replied, seemingly confused but both knew they didn't have time to explain. Finally, he grabbed the helmet as he ran towards the door. Once outside, he placed on the helmet and used the HUD function to scan the sky for any lifeforms and sure enough found the group which he began to pursue. He couldn't very well shoot them given that 3 of them were holding his kids and he could only catch one if they were to fall. On the inside of his palm, he held a small tracking device that he intended to stick on one of the Dar'manda if he was able to get close enough.

Ki'an would soon find himself blasting away from his home and the town he lived in, following the kidnappers. Luckily it wasn't that hard to find them as their five jetpacks left a bright light in the sky from him to follow. "Boss, we're being followed" commed one of the Dar'mandas to the leader, who in turn looked back, seeing a faint light further back. "It's going according to the plan, just ignore him. Besides we got his kids, he won't fire" explained the leader of the group.

After maybe half an hour of flying through the night sky, a rock formation of various sized boulders appeared before the group. Landing by a naturally formed entrance, the Dar'mandas disappeared behind boulders. Right as Ki'an got to the rocky boulder formation, whether he landed by the entrance, or hid on the top and looked down, he would hear the cries from her children calling out "daaaaad!", before she got drowned in ship ramp closing, followed by it powering up.

Ascending right in front of Ki'an's eyes, the was now or never for him, if he wanted to place a tracker on the ship as it left the rocky boulder formation. Soon the ship blasted towards space, which soon became nothing by a bright glint in the night sky. Finally, it disappeared completely as it jumped to hyperspace.

Ki'an fell back a little, trying to maintain distance, allowing his HUD to compensate for his vision. With few other options than to pursue the kidnappers, his mind returned to re-examining why he was in this situation in the first place. He had never even heard of the Sith Lord these men claimed to work for and he doubted that he himself had a reputation that would be notable to a Sith Lord so he could only speculate why he was being targeted and he didn't once stop to consider the potential involvement of his wife.

Once the Dar'manda disappeared behind the rock, he took the opportunity to land on the formation above. He knew he couldn't risk a confrontation. He couldn't take on 4 or more other trained warriors so he would have to play smart and buy his time. As much as it pained him to have to leave his kids like this, he trusted they were safe for now. It seemed like they could be used as a bargaining chip so it was in everyone's best interests that they would be kept safe. Hearing his eldest daughter call for him made him tense but he held back, knowing no good would come from it. He would be of no help to them if he was dead.

The ground rumbling beneath him as the ship started was all the signal he needed. As soon as it came into view, he dropped the tracker onto the ship from above and backed away to avoid being spotted. This was out of his hands now. He needed Jedi involvement.
