Braze had come out of curiosity, drawn by talk of the place and the creatures it hoped to shelter. He had always loved animals, and any project meant to protect them was one he wished to understand, if not support outright. The beauty of the reserve caught him off guard: the clean reach of water, the hush of distant waves, the soft gleam of the shore beneath open sky. It reminded him of other coasts, gentler places he had left behind, and a quiet homesickness settled in him as he walked.
He made a charitable donation first, offering what support he could before wandering deeper into the gathering in search of something pleasant to drink. Braze considered himself a patron of the arts, of science, and of culture, and this seemed like the sort of place where all three might meet with purpose. He hoped to learn a few new faces and names, and perhaps hear what strides were being made here: what creatures were being preserved, what research was underway, what dreams had built this sanctuary into being.
He was not yet certain who the host was, but he paid close attention as he moved through the gathering, looking for the right person to approach with a polite greeting.
