We Few (Kahne Porte)

Providence,
Adrift in Space.

From the inside of the vast Praxeum adrift in space, you could almost forget that the ground you walked upon was manufactured steal surrounding by a vacuum of darkness. The holographic emitters were serving their people well to imitate an environment more akin to their comforts, Veiere Arenais for example, testing out the Yutan Program in which was simulating the look and feel of the Temple they had left behind, there within one of the many domed rooms that protruded from the hull of the great durasteel Goliath. Typically, what he would be seeing as he peered up at the roof that curved and covered the center he stood alone within, would show the great reaches of space blanketed with stars and the nearby worlds they might be passing; unfortunately for the time the crew had informed him that they were undergoing a series of general maintenance checks and run-downs of the starship, thus were left to float adrift within an asteroid field so to not stick out like a sore thumb.

For an Order of Jedi the size of theirs, to be living their lives aboard a Starship had been a decision that had come with some doubt, Veiere had to admit. Yutan didn't play into his hands as he had hoped, stone-walled by those within the Senate, specifically the government residing over the planet despite it's history within the Galactic Republic; "Providence" veiere had hoped would save them from needing to repeat the ordeal. Here aboard such a vessel they could go where they pleased and remain anonymous thanks to the Stygium cloaking field that had been created by those of Gyndine specifically for them, financially backed by the royal house of Commenor. He and his wife whom resided over the CSA.

With the hustle of the new movement of Jedi having come together, the excitement and momentum of their Order had slowed to a more relaxed state now that they were finally catered for and felt no longer the threat of knowing not where home was for them. In these times of quiet, Veiere's concentration had turned to the organization and structure of the Jedi where he hoped to get to know his peers a little more personally. The light of the force echoed through out the vessel, it was warming to the heart that the purpose they shared was one of mutual hope and peace for the galaxy in times of such conflict, yet in order to ensure they maintained this direction, Veiere wished not to head them alone. He was but one man, a Jedi yet no less flawed in his ways than any other could be from time to time, he needed he counsel of others and the goal ahead was that like in the times before, a new Jedi Council could be re-established.

[member="Kahne Porte"] was not a man of whome Veiere was familiar with, they had not met or worked together in any great stride and yet the rumors that you'd hear from students and the Knight body of the Order whispered kindly things, enough to remove Veiere from the stress of delegating between other matters and more inclined to take a walk and talk with someone of likely equal experience. A Jedi Master himself, the position was not given without great effort and dedication put ahead of ones own desires, it was a title that honored the Jedi as much as they had honored their path in the Force and the Jedi way of life. Having requested his time, Veiere stood with his arms behind his back looking up at the domed roof and watching the simulated skies of Yutan, dotted with clouds and the odd avian creature that flew on by. Quite the marvel, the technology that surrounded them, he only hoped all of his fellow Jedi were finding the Providence as comfortable.

Boots lightly tapped the steel of the ship floor as Jedi Master Kahne Porte moved about the ship. Their new home, the moving temple all made possible and it was truly quite a marvel. The Jedi had yet to tour the entire ship yet, as that would take quite some time. The areas he had been too were quite marvelous in fact. However as he had a discussion with another Jedi before departure about the state of things. They wondered how the space life would go and how to take living here for so long and leaving behind other things.

Kahne felt it would be tough, however it seemed that things would get by rather well. He was sure people would miss being on an actual planet, but that feeling would pass. The important thing was that they were together, here and not scattered to the wind. They weren't lost and confused and other such things similar to that. The darkside was evermore present throughout their lives, and the only way to get through it was by our own strength, will and trust in the force itself.

Kahne had received word that an individual had requested his presence and wanted to speak with him. That individual being the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order himself [member="Veiere Arenais"]

Kahne had not met him and not even formally introduced yet as time had seemingly taken much of their time. And while the vessel had been created and the time in space was long, there was plenty of time at which to get acquainted. Kahne thus entered the area where Master Arenais awaited him and he simply smiled as he stood their looking up at the sky.

"It's quite fascinating isn't?" Kahne voiced as he walked up and stood beside him, hands behind his back as well. "It seems like we never left." Kahne chuckled lightly as he looked over the him, his hand reaching out towards the Jedi. "Master Arenais, it is a pleasure to finally meet you. I'm sorry our paths haven't crossed sooner."

His gaze was shaken, mind removed from his thoughts at the announcing voice of [member="Kahne Porte"] who had come to join him. An apprehensive smile crossing the Jedi Master's face as he turned to glance over the man younger than he though if this was to be the one Veiere had requested to meet, then he was indeed an equal among the circle of Masters that was yet to be formed within the Order there. "A number of years ago you would never have imagined someone like myself decidedly living aboard a Starship, let alone dragging others along with me..." Veiere chuckled quietly in both humor and genuine exchange at the expense of himself for how wary he was in accepting the fact that others were being guided by his choices alone.

Turning, Veiere took a step forward, extending a hand to grip him not by his own but by the wrist in which he shook briefly in greeting. It was a gesture that he had picked up from those aboard the Chimaera during the time in which he had stood watch over the Imperial StarDestroyer on the cusp of the Republic's end. The purpose behind it was not as casual as the shaking of hands but suggested more than simple meeting, the 501st legion looked upon the exchange as a mutual acknowledgement of Brotherhood, to which Veiere felt great admiration over the kinship of men, distanced not by arrogance but having grown together by experience good and bad. Such was not so far from what the Jedi Order went through together alongside their peers, facing similar goals in various ways all for the betterment of others while taking on the brunt of conflict in the galaxy, supported not from the outside but joined by those loyal and dedicated to the Force and to their peers. In some ways, the absence of the hereditary family did not neglect one from that aspect of belonging as to the Jedi, often they found those that shared in their views and dedication, struggles and discipline to fill in that void, that need for acceptance and friendship.

"Veiere Arenais" he declared his name with a smile that offered only warmth in the meeting of the fellow Jedi Master, "The feeling is mutual, I assure you.." He offered a quiet and swift laugh before glancing around them with a hint of amusement, "Formalities here aren't required either, just going to go the distance and put that out there here and now. This is a casual discussion I wished to have with you. Without the students around to bother us for every possible lesson they could think up, I wished to take the opportunity to introduce myself and get to know one of the more experienced that have recently joined us...-As you've no doubt noticed, the number of mentors and instructors here are somewhat lacking. Outnumbered by Padawan...-The experience we can offer and most importantly, the role models and example of appropriate attitudes is all the more crucial....".

"Worry not however, I try to make a habit of meeting all the would be teachers that will help train this organizations future generations" he smirked in evident jest, trying to cover his tracks and alleviate any potential concern that he might have mistakenly brought upon the other male. Here within such a isolated and quiet environment, he lacked nothing in the way of a casual demeanor, shoulders loose and stance anything but that of what most might expect from those in his position. An advocate of treating people on equal footing, Veiere went out of his way to ensure that no one felt intimidated at all by his presence where he could manage it.

Kahne chuckled lightly as Veiere shook his hand in a different way, Kahne had done this several times before and it seemed to hold a stronger connection than most. While some people took pride in various things that they did, you could tell a lot about someones character just on how they stood and how they connected with others. Kahne was only twenty eight years old, but he felt he had been living this life for triple that amount.

"Well, can't exactly have you on this vessel by yourself can we?" Kahne said easily enough, nodding his head towards him. "Good company is always in order." Kahne smiled reassuring the Grandmaster of his duty here. The Jedi listened attentively as he spoke and in truth Kahne was expecting this to happen, quite sooner to be honest. He knew, and respected what Veiere was trying to create, what he had created here. And while it seemed that listening between the lines conveyed hidden words or phrases that Kahne picked up quite easily enough.

"I truly understand my friend. I will do my best to teach and train as long as the force allows me too. There are those that seek guidance, I will give it to them as well as I can. I assure you I'm not here to undermine anything you have done. If there was any time for us to have faith in the Jedi Order, now is that time."

"Word is that you are a Jedi Master and one of few here..."

Veiere dipped his head forward a little looking at him with a slight tilt of his head side on, a peculiar smirk conveying amusement in [member="Kahne Porte"] humbled approach in speaking with him. The prospect of Kahne undermining Veiere's position within the Order hadn't crossed his mind in the least; no the position of Master was one of great honor for Jedi and emphasized a wealth of experience and contribution to the path that they both followed so faithfully in service to the force and to the people of the galaxy. Veiere was not a man to put himself above the opinions of others, he did not wish to be held upon some pedestal for all to listen and follow blindly, their opinions and questions were want to be heard, transparency and truth paired with self discipline within their organization would see to the better progress of their members and the consistent flow of learning; not only for the students but for those older men and women alike themselves.

"Were you to question my ways, I would welcome the discussion. No doubt as individuals there will come times where we disagree with one another but these times will be when I need your voice most. It's your experience and knowledge of the Code and traditions of the Order that will help to shape it moving into the future and I am not capable of seeing this succeed to the Galaxies need of us alone..." His tone faded, leaving Kahne with the moment to soak up the words he had been offered in response.

"There is much wrong with the Galaxy today, war on all sides of the known regions...-Governments at war with one another, though it may not necessarily be something we can avoid, the Sith are growing stronger and the Dark-side of the Force has begun to eclipse the light. It's getting more and more difficult to define the balance in the Force when there is so much grief within our line of sight. To be frank with you, I need all the experience on board I can get my hands on to help me with the organization over the Order here. A Circle of Masters to guide our Knights and a Jedi Council above them to oversee the entirety of the Order's role in the galaxy...".

Kahne listened closely as he nodded his head after Veiere spoke about. It was true, one couldn't do it alone, not in the day and age. The more the grand masters words echoed throughout this mind the more he noticed several things throughout his travels. And it was true just as the Master had said it. The darkside was indeed a growing presence once more throughout the galaxy. The Jedi had seen it on several occasions, and while he did his best to get rid of it wherever it was at, it seemed to sprout up elsewhere. This was one of the many reasons, the main reason why Kahne sought to return to the field, to return to the Jedi.

"I will give you my voice, and my wisdom when needed Veiere. I've dealt with the darkside on many occasions before this, some on a more weakened state during my younger years and when I thought all hope was lost." A time long ago that Kahne didn't like talking about, however with great perseverance and with the aid of other Jedi like him, he was able to get through such a time.

"The darkside is everywhere right now, the only way to get through this is together. A reformed Council you say, I can get behind the idea. And if you would deem it well, I would join your Council." Kahne said as he glanced up towards the dome like area. There was much that needed to be done, that was clear enough. However if the force had brought these two individuals together on this day, two Jedi Master with a common purpose. Then it was to be a pretty good day.

Hope is kindled...
