Nathan Bloodscrawl
House Bloodscrawl Patriarch
Arrived to Epica in: Breeze-Class Shuttle
Wearing: Interceptor Gear
Armed with: Nathan's Jedi Lightsaber, Capture Pistol
To become Watchman of Epica was effectively, for Nathan, the task of silently taking control of it in key areas.
The trillion credit medical corporation he secretly controlled, Bacta-Works of Epica had silently bought up property through its most innocuous subsidiaries...rich farmlands...city properties.
City council members. Government Officials. Military.
Within a month of arrival, his company secretly controlled key areas of the planet through over four dozen well placed proxies. Epica was on the corner border of both the High Republic as well the territory controlled by the Sith Order, whose capital was Jutrand. It was perfectly placed to conduct operations and access three separate territories from in an emergency.
Nathan had not chosen to be Watchman of the Epican System for no reason. It was a planet he knew well. He had history with this place, having once been a member of the Yharwod Commune.
He had wanted to do nothing but forget himself at first. He would have been satisfied just dying alone out here. That had changed eventually. Things had gotten complicated.
Nathan walked the grassy plains towards an old shack that had once been his home. He was in his old black biker gear, meant to look relatively innocuous.
It was run down, the roof partly collapsed at some point. He stepped inside.
It was here where he had the first and only conversation with his now adult firstborn daughter, Julia, now known as the pariah
Laertia Io
, a terrorist and traitor to the Jedi. No one knew except for a few that he was her father. Certainly not any Jedi.
He had other, far larger secrets.
He was still on the Jedi's side, but he fought in their wars with his own methods and strategies that those in the NJO wouldn't fully approve of in most cases.
He was naturally more militant.
He planned on turning Epica into an outpost for the Rebellion. A well hidden and quiet one that wasn't going to make itself known to the locals...
Nathan walked the inside of the old, abandoned home. He had never come back to this area after seeing her until now.
In orbit, a single M33 Starcrawler smuggled passengers from the Wild Space Rebellion to the Epican System amidst hauls of spare parts and other cargo...
He had a vision for what this Rebellion could become. The Fleet of
Jonyna Si
was powerful, but much too prone to being noticed. They needed smaller ships that could double as legitimate military vessels in a pinch. Vehicles that could be disguised. Weapons that could be made very cheaply and under the table.
They needed to be more than a rebellion. They needed to be an insurgency.
It may be just an outpost, but he intended to do a lot more for the Rebellion with Epica as part of his strategy.
In orbit, a single, innocuous Vulcan-Class Utility Station hung in orbit. Official it was the property of the Epican Government. Unofficially, it was owned by his company subsidiary, Gun-Works of Epica.
Nathan lived a very complicated double life. He was dedicated to stopping the Sith. But in the process he was digging himself so deep that he knew there would eventually be a reckoning with someone, somewhere. He would not be able to escape it.
One way or another, he was going to be judged for the things he had done.
Not only did he have to hide his ties to his own company from the NJO, he had to hide those connections from the Rebellion as well.
So he could only come up with the most basic in terms of shelters for new arrivals, old AE-RR1 Emergency Habitats with basic amenities from an old freighter he had purchased in a field nearby, both products totally unconnected to his company. It was the sort of place to shelter tired, starved refugees on the surface. Beneath that field, he was using old mining droids to excavate a space to create a tunnel system. He was still trying to work out a plausible excuse to get Bacta-Works somehow involved in the Wild Space Rebellion and that definitely wasn't going to be easy. There had to be a reason for Master Si to run into his adopted daughter,
Sera Mina
, and Si was notoriously cagey and was itching to play hero; she would never accept the idea of Bacta-Works having its thumb on the scales. There were a number of other issues present as well, such as how to avoid making their sudden involvement convenient.
There were also the issue of Doctors...
Nathan was silent a moment, taking the ruins in before shutting the door and heading back out.
It was not the only task he had here. He would need help taking down a hideout of Spice Smugglers in Epican City as he had learned they were set to make a shipment of Polstine Spice.
It was going to be a busy day, no matter what.
Nathan walked the grassy plains around the emergency shelters, local architects that secretly worked for Bacta-Works were busy setting up a disguised compound of rows and rows of such shelters, ostensibly one for people here to develop the local area and farmland. In reality, they were setting up a listening post for the Rebellion and a hidden medical facility on the surface.
"You've gotten ambitious, Nathan Bloodscrawl..." said a voice with a deep baritone.
Nathan spun around, spotting a giant Loth Wolf with black fur and golden eyes.
"Kennus The Discerning." Nathan said simply, acknowledging the Jedi Master's presence. It had been a long time since they had spoken. Kennus, for his own reasons that he had never explained, had guided Nathan in relearning certain Force Powers in the early days of his resurrection. Back then, he had mostly just hung around Nathan, observing his actions. Kennus had never blabbed to the rest of the Jedi about what Nathan was doing in his free time. Nathan didn't know why. But it had been a long time since he had appeared.
"Didn't expect to run into you. Still taking an interest in my affairs, I see..."
"I never stopped..." Kennus replied, trotting over to him.
"Congratulations on the birth of your son..." Kennus said.
Nathan raised an eyebrow.
"You are well informed..." Nathan observed. "Why reveal yourself after all this time?"
Kennus snorted.
"To caution you. You are this system's Watchman. You are being...very creative in your interpretation of a Watchman's duties."
"It's only the start, Wolf. I intend to build Epica up into a planet that can protect itself from invasion..."
"And if your efforts draw the attention of the Sith?" Kennus questioned.
"It's a risk I have to take. If the Sith Order marches across the Alliance Border, Epica is fethed even if I'm not here. Sometimes you have to pick a battleground. And Epica is perfectly positioned near two friendly Galactic powers. If I'm gonna play Watchman, I'm gonna do what I must to build up Epica into at least being able to withstand a large invasion force long enough for the population to evacuate. No planet is too insignificant for the Sith to try taking at this point."
"Hmmm...you may be right, at that..." Kennus mused. "Build up slowly. Don't station any of your 'other' forces here... it'll be a dead giveaway...build new forces up from this population, or whoever comes here."
"I'll keep it in mind. You gonna stick around?" Nathan asked.
"I'll be doing what I usually do with you..." Kennus trailed, mysteriously fading into nothingness.
"Watching..."
Nathan was left alone once more in the Epican Plains. He was silent, uncertain before heading back to his shop to meet with allied forces in The Capital
OBJECTIVE ONE: A Habitable Outpost
WSR forces arrive covertly with prepared passports and doctored identification provided by Nathan on Epica to help set up a new listening post and Hospital. Bring your own supplies to help facilitate this task. If you're a Jedi, keep it under Wraps as you help.
OBJECTIVE 2: Smugglers
Spice Smugglers in Epican City are expecting a shipment of Highly Illegal Glitterstim known as Polstine. Assist Nathan in breaching their hidden compound. The smugglers must be subdued non lethally.
OBJECTIVE 3: BYOO
