SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Alive
  • Squishable
Strengths:
  • Tissue Replacement: The Syra slug is a new step in medical technology based off of Yuuzhan Vong Biotech. The Slug, though technically not a slug, is a biot that acts as a tissue replacer and sealant. To put it into simple terms, a wound is created on a person, the Syra slug is taken out of its tube like contained and then placed on the wound. The Syra slug then goes into the wound, seals it, and becomes a replacement for the tissue lost. This allows the user time to escape their current predicament and not die from their wound. Thanks to it's immediate nature the Syra Slug can help save lives where even bacta is not enough.
Weaknesses:
  • Stiffening: The Syra Slug is a living being, it is also a biot. Generally the Syra Slug is kept alive through a unique nutrient solution found in the container it is housed in. Once it takes it's place within someones body the Syra Slug no longer gains sustenance. This means that within a span of Six hours the Syra Slug will starve to death, as it starves the creatures effect becomes less and less until it eventually ceases all together and dies. For the user of a Syra Slug this basically means they must find medical treatment as fast as possible.
  • Not A Healer: The Syra Slug does not heal a wound. It is more accurate to call it an advanced form of a tourniquet. The Syra Slug will seal the wound, allow the damaged portion of the body to function, but it will not last forever, nor will it heal any of the damage tissue that it replaced. This means that at best the Syra Slug is only a temporary patch.
  • Limits: Though the biot is uniquely fitted to aiding in the survival of most being, it does have its limits. The Syra Slug only has so much mass, and thus can only seal so much of a wound. It can't replace lost arms or legs, nor can it take on the function of more complex organs like the Brain or heart.
DESCRIPTION
Though Vanir Technologies has long made its mark with the development of new weapons and other defensive apparatus, it has rarely ventured into medical Technologies.

The reasons for this stem from the companies primary directive, though due to the nature of it's Fringe Science department at times things are developed that move away from their original function. The Syra Slug was first created as a simple experiment with Yuuzhan Vong Bio-Technology. As the sort of inheritor of most of Titan Industries technological innovations, Vanir has long held a great amount of knowledge in the field of Yuuzhan Vong Biotech.
Though no serious applications have ever been utilized, experiments have been almost ceaseless since the companies founding.

When the research department first developed what would become The Syra Slug it came about as an odd sort of mimic creature. The biot would move and attempt to form into different plant like shapes, taking on aspects of other Yuuzhan Vong Bio-technology in order to 'fix' or mend it. Though this was completely by accident the researchers quickly recognized the potential of this particular biot and swiftly began to 'program' it correctly.

With the aid of Shapers formerly employed by Titan Industries, Vanir researchers began to shape and guide The Syra Slug into becoming a medical device.

For lack of a better term they bred the Biot to function as an advanced tourniquet, eventually bringing it to a point where the creature would automatically mimic and replace lost tissues inside of a host body. Though the biot does not heal damaged tissue, nor repair anything in it's stay, the biot does act as a perfect replacement for what is lost.

This is obviously of great benefit. Soldiers on the battlefield with lost limbs, severe burns, and other heinous injuries could use the Syra Slug to effectively seal most wounds and get up, allowing them reach safety in a timely manner.
