Strengths:
  • Heavy Firepower: The Ragnus Class Star Destroyer is first and foremost a battleship. It's primary focus is to provide heavy and intense forward facing fire, utilizing a combination of heavy long range turbo lasers, ion cannons, and capital sized concussion missiles to cut enemy ships to ribbons. The Ragnus's weapons face almost entirely forward, making it's line of sight an incredibly deadly place to be.
  • Defensive Prow: Featured on the front of the ship is a layer of extremely heavy armoring. This is the primary defensive feature of the Ragnus and makes attacking the ship from the front extremely difficult. The Defensive prow is designed to take an extreme amount of damage from almost any source.
Weaknesses:
  • Firing Arc: The Design of the Ragnus class Star Destroyer is based off of the old Scythe class cruisers fielded by the New Republic centuries ago. As such the ships weaponry is located almost entirely on the front of the vessel. Aside from a few defensive cannons the rear of the Ragnus is almost completely undefended, leaving it vulnerable to assault and unable to counter. If a capital ship were to ambush a Ragnus from behind, the end result would be extremely predictable.
  • Maneuverability: The Ragnus is not designed as a ship of movement, it is in essence a massive wall of guns, and that's all it is. Smaller ships are easily able to outmaneuver and flank the vessel, and the Ragnus' turning time is treacherous even when facing similarly sized ships.
Description:
The Ragnus class Star Destroyer is a development that is neither technologically imposing nor really a great leap forward.

By all accounts this new Star Destroyer is more of a throwback than it is actually 'new', though of course it's technological equipment is far ahead of anything that the ship was based off of.

Though Vanir Technologies is known for owning and operating one of the largest private shipyards in the galaxy, the company has as of yet not designed a single Star Destroyer sized ship. Their single Dreadnought, The Arkuhn, was a vessel designed as a singular unique flagship and thus was not mass produced. Though Vanir fields other military vessels, a mainstay Star Destroyer was never in the cards.

This has now changed.

The Ragnus Class Star Destroyer was designed by Vanir to be the mainstay ship of it's Corporate Armada, IE the core of the the various small defense Fleets that Vanir fields all around the galaxy. These ships were created as a sort of centerpiece to Vanir's assault forces, created as a ship to be flanked by other vessels.

As a centerpiece of the various fleets that Vanir fields, the Ragnus Class is not meant to be seen alone, and thus is always escorted by other Vanir craft such as various Slith or Aurel class Frigates.

Like other ships produced by Vanir, the Ragnus is openly sold on the market to various Planetary Defense Forces and other private entities.

As before, that Refraction Sensor functions as a stealth-detecting tech and thus must be limited to Semi-Unique on starships.

Otherwise this is well within bounds, and really neat concept for a ship besides.
