Intent: Sub a new kind of ammunition
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Vanir Technologies
Production: Mass-Produced
Model: VT-Proton Rounds
Modularity: No
Material: Durasteel, Proton Charge
Length: 138mm
Diameter: 20.4mm

Strengths:
  • Powerful: The VT-Proton Round was designed as a miniature version of the same type of ammunition that is fired by various Proton Cannons produced throughout the galaxy. This in effect, means it's basically just a scaled down version of a similar product already in existence. Obviously due to it's reduced size the VT-Proton Round does not carry the same effectiveness as the original ammunition, however, it does retain a great deal of punch. A VT-Proton Round carries the charge of about fifteen regular blaster bolts in a single round. This means the VT-Proton Round carries a tremendous amount of force, against shields, armored foes, and of course flesh. The round can be extremely effective against light vehicles, infantry, and of course Jedi due to it's explosive properties.
Weaknesses:
  • Heavy: The chief Issue with the VT-Proton round is the fact that it's incredibly heavy. The ammunition sits at a weight that makes it twice as heavy as any regular standard powerpack. This is of course a tremendous amount of weight for a single shot and part of the reason why the Ammunition is difficult to use. Carrying a lot of VT-Proton Round's is extremely difficult for a single person. The Ammunition is large and unwieldy.
  • Recoil: The other issue one finds with the VT-Proton Round is it's powerful recoil. No matter the rifle it's fired from, no matter what safeguards there are, the VT-PR simply has a tremendous amount of recoil. This can be softened somewhat of course, but it is highly unlikely that even the strongest alien species would be able to effectively use an automatic weapon that utilizes the VT-Proton Round.

Description:
Though Vanir Technologies already manufactures several proton weapons as well as several anti-armor weapons it has never truly produced something that melded both of these aspects together save for the in the SI-74 anti-tank rifle.

Due to the nature of the SI-74 however it was quietly discussed among the ranks of Saeva and Vanir Technologies that something more...subtle was required. A particle weapon, by nature, is loud, flashy, and impossible to conceal even on a good day. Thus Vanir Technologies quickly set to work on production of designs that would allow the Mercenaries of Saeva, as well as other corporations, to produce something with a bit more...finesse.

The first step in this was the creation of the VT-Proton Rounds.

The ammunition was created a base for weapons to be built off of, mostly Semi-Automatic and Bolt Action Sniper Rifles. The hope at Vanir was that this ammunition could become the base of a design of the weapons themselves, the idea being that the rounds would be fitted specifically to certain rifles to be used for certain aspects, allowing the team to build the perfect weapon for certain jobs.

Though this might seem somewhat niche, Mercenary outfits like Saeva understand that the right tool for the job matters quite a bit.

With this in mind the VT-Proton Torpedo was quite literally designed to be a simple scaled down version of the famed Proton Cannons. With minimization having long since been a trademark of Vanir Technologies the process was complex, but not too difficult. Eventually the scientists at Vanir managed to design and ultimately create the VT-Proton Round.
