Strengths:
Fast: Above all and everything else, the Vanir Technologies-Momentum is designed as a speedship. The vessel itself was designed with key functions to make it incredibly fast both in space, and in atmosphere. The vessel has a low aerodynamic profile, a single overcharged engine, and repulsor generators for when in Atmosphere. The Momentum RK has added design specifications that decrease its speed while allowing it to still be one of the fastest ships in the galaxy. The addition of a single retractable twin GN-40 blaster cannon allow the ship some defense while still maintaining its overarching speed.
Pilot Integration System: The chief hallmark of the Momentum is its speed and maneuverability. For humans, and humanoid creatures, this speed can be 'taxing' on the senses, sending some into overdrive and causing the ship to crash due to lack of proper handling. To counter this the Momentum has been designed with a computer interface system that makes the ship far more easy to fly for normal beings. The system does this by making minute changes, calibrations, and calculations to every inputted action, aiding the pilot as he flies the vessel but with no noticeable difference. This system as a fact slightly inhibits the capabilities of the Momentum, and were it shut off the pilot would find the Momentum much more unwieldy and wild. Though perhaps more...fun.
Weaknesses:
Reactor: Due to the addition of a new weapons system the reactor of the Momentum RK is nearly always at overtaxed level when it's weapons are in use. This is incredibly dangerous and deadly if not correctly utilized by the pilot. Sustained fire will lead to critical overload, and damage taken can easily lead to reactor failures.
Unshielded: The Momentum RK also has no shields or heavy armor. The only armor that coats the Momentum is a thin layer of Agrinium to aid in the deflection and shielding against radiation. Aside from this the Momentum has zero defense. Even a glancing laser blow would be devastating to the vessel and would likely cause severe damage that would require repairs. Of course the vessels speed and maneuverability make up for this somewhat, but it is still recommended that Rose not take this into battle.
Description:
The VT-Momentum RK as it is so unimaginatively named is a ship designed for Rose Kuhn by Vanir Technologies.
Rose, having decided that though she still loves her father she is unable to forgive him, has undertaken a journey through wild space. Her original plan was simple, take an old freighter from the Kuhn estate and leave it at that. However, her father being somewhat overprotective and not entirely okay with his daughter traveling the galaxy all on her own with minimal equipment insisted that she take her own, more effective ship.
The result was the construction of the Momentum RK.
Much like its sister, the VT-Momentum, the RK is designed for speed rather than effectiveness in combat. This suites Rose perfectly fine and falls in line with her own piloting tendencies, however the ship holds slight differences. The first difference is the addition of more storage space located throughout the ship.
The vessel now has several larger storage compartments big enough to hold a tent, clothes, and other emergency supplies.
The next addition, and perhaps the more important is a simple retractable weapon system. A single twin GN-40 Laser Cannon was put onto Momentum RK in order to give the ship some measure of defense. Though the vessel should still not be used in combat, the addition of the GN-40 gives Rose some options while still maintaining the ships vastly superior speed.
The last addition the ship holds is a galactic tracking device. This device is a simple addition, and almost unnoticeable, though Rose was told about it when she was given the ship. Vanir Technologies has set up communications outposts throughout the galaxy, this tracking device, when pinged, utilizes the ships communications system to send the nearest Vanir Technologies outpost its position. This was added for Alric's peace of mind more than anything else.
All in all the RK is a simple modification of the standard VT-Momentum.
