OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Vanir Technologies, Arkuhn Medical
  • Model: VT-Bacta Glove
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Limited
  • Material: Fiberplast, Durasteel, Aurodium
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Dispenser - Located in the palm of the glove, the Dispenser is what disperses the Bacta glove mixture. When in use the Dispenser must be placed on the wound and gradually moved to heal.
  • Micro Terminal - Located on the under forearm of the glove, the Micro-terminal is a mini datapad with various readouts, a chrono, and other standard features.
  • Scanner - The Scanner on the Bacta Glove allows the user to quickly assess and determine the status of their patient, something invaluable in both the field and off it.
Strengths:
  • Healing: The Vanir Technologies Bacta glove allows someone wearing it to effectively mimic the use of the force technique called "Healing". The Glove achieves this through a mixture of Bacta, Aspha Serum, and several other chemical agents. The Glove essentially allows the user a form of 'quick' healing. Sealing wounds and mending flesh within just a few moments to allow for the saving of lives. The Bacta Glove can be invaluable to Surgeons, battlefield medics, and even regular soldiers.
Weaknesses:
  • Range: The Bacta glove is not a ranged device, in order for it to work the user needs to be right up against the victim. This is mostly due to the way that the Dispenser of the glove works and the nature of the compound that it disperses. Because of the limited range, the use of the glove can sometimes be extremely dangerous, especially in combat situations.
  • Limitations: Though the Bacta Glove is an exceptional healing tool, it does have its limitations. The Aspha Serum within the chemical agent in the Bacta Glove does not actually increase it's healing capabilities but rather only speeds up the process. This means that the Bacta Glove is not a miracle life saver, and is only as effective as a regular bacta patch or a stay in the tank would be.
  • Reload: Obviously unlike it's counterparts the Repulse and Grav glove, the bacta glove does not have an unlimited 'recharge' of energy that just needs time to adjust. Instead the Bacta Glove uses three capsules of it's chemical compound, utilizing each capsule in succession until they are used up. A moderate size wound takes about one capsule to heal up. When all three are used, the Glove needs to be "reloaded"
DESCRIPTION
The Bacta glove is a continuation of Vanir's attempt at the mimicry of certain force powers displayed by the Galaxy's many Jedi and Sith.

This project initially began with the development of what is commonly known as the Vanir technologies Grav glove, a device that allowed one to mimic the telekenetic abilities of Force Users. This was then later developed into the VT-Repulse Glove, a device that followed the same lines but narrowed it's focus on the 'push' and 'pull' aspect of the force itself.

What came next was a different development.

Vanir, along with it's Corporate Cousin Arkuhn Medical and it's subsidiary Void Genetics has long since had a hand in medical technology and the development of various devices. The crossing of these two sections of Vanir's Research and Development department was an easy step to take.

The Development and creation of the VT-Bacta Glove came about as an aid to battlefield medics and surgeons.

The device itself is incredibly complex, and it's workings are not dissimilar from other medical devices found in the galaxy. What makes the Bacta Glove so unique is it's form, rather than it's function. The Glove is...well a glove, designed to be sleek and uncumbersomeness, easy to carry and easy to use in any situation. The glove was designed to function in a battlefield situation, allowing medics, and even regular soldiers, to quickly address any wounds they come across.

It's fast acting formula was developed by Vanir in conjunction with Arkuhn Medical, and allows the glove to seal up wounds faster than a standard bacta patch.

This along with it's unimposing and simple to use form makes the Bacta Glove the perfect device for a medic on the go.
