DESCRIPTION
The Vorthax Driver (VD-90 Series) is a heavy capital weapon system that combines mass driver pre-acceleration with railgun-based electromagnetic propulsion to deliver extreme-range kinetic strikes against heavily armored targets.

Each Vorthax Driver unit utilizes a two-stage acceleration system, where a coil-based mass driver chamber pre-accelerates a dense projectile before it is further accelerated along a reinforced rail channel. This hybridized approach maximizes projectile velocity while reducing rail wear and improving overall efficiency.

Firing solid, high-density penetrator slugs—typically composed of advanced metallic composites—the system relies entirely on kinetic energy transfer, enabling it to overwhelm or bypass deflector shielding through sheer momentum and inflict catastrophic structural damage upon impact.

The VD-90 Series is deployed in two primary configurations:

• Single Driver Mount (VD-90):
  A standalone heavy weapon installation, often mounted along reinforced dorsal, ventral, or spinal hardpoints for precision long-range strikes.
• Driver Battery Configuration (VD-90B / VD-90Q):
  A clustered array of multiple Vorthax Drivers (commonly 2–4 units) mounted along a reinforced hull section, operating under a unified fire control system. Battery configurations allow for sequential, paired, or full-salvo firing, increasing tactical flexibility and total kinetic output.

Optimized for long-range engagements (1,000–5,000+ km), the system is capacitor-driven and requires a substantial charge cycle between shots, resulting in a low rate of fire but extremely high per-shot lethality. Due to the immense recoil generated, all configurations require significant structural reinforcement and inertial compensation systems integrated into the host vessel.
