Vorrak

Age8000
SpeciesGen'Dai
GenderMale
Height2.3m
Weight272kg
Force SensitiveYes

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Measuring at a towering 2.3m Vorrak seems to fill any room he steps into, however unlike others who he might come into contact with there is something unquestionably alien about him, even when wearing armour and a helmet. His frame is lean and elongated, favouring endurance and violence over conventional humanoid symmetry, his limbs seem to be extended beyond typical proportions and his posture always seems to be leaning forward. As if he was a predator always ready to strike at a moments notice. Despite his slender appearance, his body is unnaturally resilient, composed of dense, rope-like musculature beneath pale scarred flesh. The evidence of centuries of combat, of injury and regeneration like a painting on the canvas of his skin.

Deep-set eyes rest within shadowed sockets, rarely displaying recognizable emotions, instead Vorrak seems to bounce between a predatory stillness and hunger and a sense of profound amusement that many find profoundly unsettling. When he does smile Vorrak's teeth appear to be overly large giving him a distorted smile and, when opened fully, an elongated inner tongue that reinforces his predatory aura.

Like all Gen'Dai Vorrak's movements appear to flow, almost like liquid, with a grace and speed that belies his large form, yet behind that grace comes a terrifying force. Age has not diminished Vorrak, he still strikes with all the explosive power of the Gen'Dai, but now it is leashed to a mind packed with centuries of experience. Unlike many younger members of his species he is aware of the importance of appearance, and the effectiveness of the terror he can generate. While his movement is generally slow and measured, that is only to allow for the fear to set in before he strikes with a burst of speed that can leave any but hte most hardy filled with fear and terror.

This understanding of the ability of his appearance to affect others is reflected in Vorrak's choice of armour. Rather than the smooth modern armour that most Gen'Dai adopt Vorrak's armour is like something out of a nightmare, dark and replete with flowing lines and spikes. Rather than looking like a soldier on a modern battlefield he appears to be a dark knight drawn out of myth and history come to wreak havoc and death on those who see him.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

When he was young Vorrak was a proud and honourable warrior and a philosopher who sought to help inspire the Jedi and citizens of the galaxy around him, who managed to keep his optimism strong despite the wars that were waged across the stars again and again. For a time at least. The constant cycle of war and death that the galaxy is trapped in started to play on Vorrak, forcing him to constantly make cut corners or step into the grey to save lives. It is the same path that every force user must face, and Vorrak failed the test. He started to take shortcuts, started become more and more willing to cross lines to complete his mission. His attitude made him effective, scarily effective in dealing with situations, and he started to cover up his actions, figuring that he could do more good if people didn't know exactly what he was doing. He might have faded away into the annals as either a hero, or fallen Jedi except for one thing, the longevity of the Gen'Dai. Where most Jedi might live for a century or so, Vorrak persisted, constantly being thrown agains the worst of the galaxy, constantly stepping deeper and deeper into the dark. He might even have been able to control it, to hold himself except for the mental degradation that comes to all Gen'Dai as they age. He lost sight of his original purpose, needing more power, more adulation, and willing to do anything to get it.

And then he was caught.

His misdeeds came to light, seen by a padawan who managed to escape to report to the council, so when Vorrak returned from his latest mission, it wasn't to the hero's welcome he expected but to a templed armed and prepared to take him in. They thought they were ready for him...they were not.

As he fled the temple he blamed the Jedi, if they weren't so weak, so hidebound they could understand why he was doing this, he was protecting them and they let him. For all those years, century on century they'd needed him to do what needed to be done. And now, now they dared to judge him! Over the following centuries he clashed with the Jedi again and again, seeking out the Sith as a powerbase to strike back at them, to punish the Jedi for betraying him. While his hatred of the Jedi remains, the reason, the history has faded away. It's not that Vorrak forgot, he just doesn't care anymore.

He's seen too much, done too much to care about the reasons, about the when and why. Over the years, he drifted away from the vision of the Sith Empire, from the unity it brought. He would fight because he enjoyed it, because the Jedi needed to be brought down. He might toy with an opponent, or heal them, to break them in little ways. A Jedi he defeated might find themslves healed with life energy drawn from an innocent, or branded with a scar to remember him. He might kill a city, drive it to madness or feed them, all depending on his mood.

Even before he was sealed away, Vorrak sought only his own amusement, moved to fulfil his own plans,

Released on the galaxy again, all he wants to know is how amusing this new age is after his millennia long nap.

STRENGTHS

  • Gen'Dai Physiology
    • Vorrak has all the natural strengths of a typical Gen'Dai, the resilience and healing, the strength and flexibility. It's what makes him such a terrifying opponent, even if you defeat him, he is capable of regeneration, coming for you again. and again
  • Force Mastery
    • Vorrak has had millennia to master the force, to master the secrets of the energy that binds the galaxy, indeed, during his captivity, he had little else to do.
  • Combat Mastery
    • Millennia of combat have honed Vorrak into a terrifying opponent, a master of combat and the blade.
  • Cloak of Madness
    • The Gen'Dai is so steeped in the Dark Side that it flares around him like an aura, those who are strong enough can sense him feel something wrong with him but those who aren't strong enough can be driven to a maddening fear.

WEAKNESSES

  • Public Enemy
    • The name Vorrak is whispered to Gen'Dai children as a bogeyman, a story about the danger of a force sensitive Gen'Dai, about what happens if you live too long. Vorrak is hated by other Gen'Dai who will attempt to apprehend or kill him if they see him on the battlefield.
  • Arrogance
    • Vorrak is absolutely certain of his power and capabilities, certain that there is no-one he can't defeat, no situation he can't master, which often leads him to wandering as his fancy takes. After all, that's how you have the most fun...or get trapped for thousands of years.
  • Boredom
    • Vorrak seeks excitement, seeks amusement. If there is none before him, then no matter what the situation he's liable to wander off to seek out a challenge or alleviate his boredom.
  • Beacon
    • So steeped in the Darkside is he that Vorrek's presence is like a lighthouse, screaming out his presence and the spread of the dark no matter where he goes. Stealth? Forget about it.

HISTORY

SALVAGE VESSEL Wayfarer's Debt
Independent Recovery Crew — Outer Rim
Recovered Log Fragments

LOG 01 — Crewman Tal Verren

We picked up the coordinates from a datapad Kerr found in a flea market — half-corrupted Republic archive tags. Something about a sealed Jedi repository, there wasn't a vault designation or any other details about the vault or who it belonged too.

Which means no official claimants.

Which means salvage rights for whoever finds it.

The rock is barely an asteroid — more like broken teeth floating in a dead orbit. No atmosphere. No signal chatter. Just sensor ghosts and old stone structures fused into the surface. In other words, the perfect find.

Captain says we crack it open, take what isn't bolted down, and leave before anyone important notices.

Feels simple enough.

LOG 02

We found the vault, doesn't look like it was made by the New Jedi Order — seems older.

Stone and alloy fused together like it grew that way.

What we found inside:
  • A few holocrons
  • Ceremonial masks
  • Data spindles too degraded to read on our systems but maybe something can be salvaged.
  • One old looking blade — still sharp though, but there's something off about it. Must be a force thing, some old Jedi weapon, maybe.
Kerr took it. Said it would fetch triple value with the right collector.

He's been quiet since.

LOG 03

Kerr isn't sleeping.

Keeps staring at nothing.

Caught him standing in cargo hold in the dark.

Didn't respond when spoken to — just smiling.

I asked if he was sick.

He said:

"It's older than them. Older than all of them."

Didn't elaborate. I don't think I want him to.

LOG 04

Mira is dead.

Neck broken. No signs of struggle.

Security feed corrupted — the feed was filled with visual noise.

Kerr found her. he claims he found her that way.

I'm not sure that I believe him.

We're leaving the asteroid.

LOG 05

He killed two more.

Not hiding it now.

Moving fast — wrong fast — like joints bending further than they should.

Eyes red and unfocused.

Talking to someone who isn't there.

We sealed him on the asteroid and launched.

Leaving artifacts behind.

Leaving blade behind.

Didn't matter.

Left him behind, he deserves it.

LOG 06 — Planetfall

Docked at an outer settlement moon.

Thought we could relax and report Kerr to the authorities, maybe they can deal with him.

Thought we were safe, should have known better.

Loran was the first, thought she saw him, we thought it was just nerves and she needed a drink.

We were wrong.

Within hours:
  • Fights breaking out
  • Citizens screaming about whispers
  • Security reports of violent mania
Then we saw him at the end of the street, watching us smiling as the people around him broke out into a massive riot.

It spreads outward from him as Kerr started walking towards us.

Captain called it Force corruption.

Said the Jedi sealed that vault for a reason.

Dunno how he got here, don't care. We lifted off again.

LOG 07 — Outpost Theta

Thought we were safe in a military outpost.

Didn't last a day.

Same pattern.
Nightmares.
Violence.
Paranoia.

Something isn't just inside him — it radiates.

Like a wound in reality.

Captain made decision:

We go back.

Destroy asteroid.

Destroy source.

Even if it means never getting paid.

LOG 8 — ASTEROID ORBIT

Charges placed.

Vault cracking open under structural stress.

We thought it was empty.

It wasn't.

Inside — darkness deeper than shadow.

And a shape.

One red eye.

Watching.

Aware.

Not trapped.

Waiting.

As detonation began and fire swallowed the chamber, I looked back one last time—

The eye vanished.

Standing in its place…

…was Kerr.

Smiling.

FINAL LOG — ASTEROID ORBIT

The others don't believe me, they want to think we stopped it, we're free.

I know better.

Whatever was trapped there, we let it out.

We landed on a planet, thought we'd spend a few weeks in civilization before heading back after the next score.

They're so blind.

He came to me in the night, I woke up and he was standing in my room, the glowing red eyes from the vault.

Watching me.

He just said two words...Thank you.

In the morning, there was a golden coin next to my bed. The others all had one, Cap said he heard about another vault filled with them. That we're heading out.

There's something wrong with their eyes though, bloodshot, unfocused.

I just saw myself in the mirror, with my red eyes. I can hear them too, the voices whispering.

Ashla help us, what did we unleash?

Transmission ends.

The Wayfarer's Debt was found wrecked in the out rim. A forensic exploration of the wreck shows the ship's hyperdrive was set to overload. The log was all that could be recovered along with 5 old gold coins. Log and coins will be sent to headquarters for further examination.
