ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • The Voracitos is capable of both long-range bombardment of enemy fleets and precision bombardment of planetary targets.
  • The swarm of missiles created by the Voracitos are particularly difficult to eliminate. 500 missiles traveling at a fleet will almost guarantee at least some will make it through to cause damage.
Is effective at absorbing the energy of weaponry, providing defense to ships with conventional deflector shields against shield-penetrating energy weaponry like solar ionization cannons
  • Can be used in battle to reduce usage of the ship's main power source, or alternative can be used to augment the ship's shields, engines, or weapons

Weaknesses:
  • Given the fact that it is a squished sphere, the Voracitos is in practice larger than most Star Destroyers of its length - as a result, that makes it much easier to hit.
  • The Voracitos lacks dedicated fighterbays, having only shuttlebays - this forces it to rely on outside fighter squadrons or anti-fighter warships along with its own anti-fighter armament.
Provides no benefit whatsoever to protection against physical weapons
  • Can be overwhelmed with either highly concentrated fire or fire directed on the ship's hull from every angle, potentially overloading and disabling the entire system

Description:
Designed around the offensive-focused concept of the ancient Torpedo Sphere, the Voracitos-class Bombardment Sphere is intended to function both as a long range artillery platform and dedicated planetary bombardment vessel. With a suite of seeker baradium missile tubes concentrated in a cone-shaped recess at the front of the rotund warship, the Voracitos can unleash a missile barrage unlike no other warship in the Sith fleet. While the rest of its hull possesses only anti-frigate level armament - multiple pulse cannon batteries - the ship contains a fierce anti-fighter fusillade consisting of composite beam lasers and flak guns. That said, it lacks a fighterbay, leaving it vulnerable to dedicated bomber attack without fighter cover. Traditionally, Voracitos-class ships operate in the ancient Imperial form of Bombard Squadrons, with four Bombardment Spheres working in concert with a smattering of anti-fighter and heavy corvettes and frigates. These Bombard Squadrons also are responsible for functioning as planetary bombardment vessels, utilizing their coordinated baradium missile complements to overwhelm fluctuations and weaknesses in planetary shield generators to allow for their destruction. On unshielded worlds, the seeking function of the baradium missiles allows for precision bombardment of multiple important planetary locations at the same time. The Voracitos production line is freshly opened and vessels are being churned out for use at the quickest feasible rate.

Alright, let's get started!

First off, would you mind adding the strengths and weaknesses from the Diatium Array please?

Second, as there's no approved submission or Canon article about them, could you make a strength elaborating on their capabilities? In particular, could you point out the degree to their "seeking/tracking" as well as if they are affected by missile deactivation measures?

Not sure of the need to really do so given the submission is linked if people are interested in reading on what the diatium capacitance array is, not to mention that no other factory judge or RPJ has ever asked me to list such on the multiple starship submission that have had the system, but edited. As for the seeker baradium missiles - they're pretty much identical in function to the seeker missiles from Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, doggedly pursuing enemies until either detonating themselves, hitting something else in their attempt to hit their target, or actually hitting said enemies. Given the primary targets for these missiles are warships hundreds of meters to multiple kilometers long, as well as static planetary locations that cannot dodge the attack, it is unlikely the missiles will ever end up making such aggressive maneuvers as the Slave I's missiles in Episode 2. If you're referring to jamming, that could well work - EMP or ion weapons could also be effective. I would expect such methods to be known to work given the missiles are not stated to be EMP-hardened or deionized.
