VLADIC DRAKOV
- BACKGROUND
-
TEMPORARY EMPIRE
In a bygone era, Vladic was born within the Eternal Empire on the planet of Bakura. With his father being an influential planetary functionary, and his mother the younger daughter of a General within the Eternal Army, Vladic would have a life of relative privilege in his youth. As he grew older, he would gain entry within the one of the Eternal Empire’s most prestigious military academies in the capital world of Kalidan. Although nepotism would play a role in his acceptance, merit would define his career - as nearly all of its cadets came from the nobility of the Empire, and the headmasters were among the first in many of their lives to refuse to break under their familial influence. Where his peers were entitled and petulant; Vladic was quiet, observant, and analytical.
He would gain the notice of his instructors, who in turn observed his aptitude for critical thinking and tactical flexibility. This resulted in him being elevated into the Eternal Fleet’s cadet program as he gained seniority within the class. Upon graduation, he was assigned as an ensign aboard the flagship of
Aximand Sicarus
. As an ensign, Vladic experienced deployments under Aximand’s command at Dromund Kaas, Drinaba IV, and Odessen. He would rise through the ranks steadily, continuing to serve through the battles of Lorta, and at the climax of the Second Great Hyperspace War - the battle of Tython, where he served as a Lt. Commander aboard a Vikaander-class Light Cruiser within Sicarus’ fleet.
Eventually, Vladic’s career would encounter its greatest obstacle of all, in the collapse of the Eternal Empire with the fall of Kalidan to the Brotherhood of the Maw. Much of the Eternal Fleet would fall to the Mawite forces, including Aximand himself. Those that remained would scatter to the wind, struggling to survive in a galaxy mired within the continual abyss of war. Before Vladic had much of an opportunity to do anything other than survive, a mysterious ship bearing the markings of the First Order - as if a ghost from a bygone era, hailed them in the dead of space. They were all offered a choice - to likely die an ignoble death unknown to almost all of the galaxy, or to join the galaxy’s last true hope for order and stability.
They were all given a standard cycle to ponder the offer. Some among Vlad’s peers thought of resisting - a last act of defiance to those who felt above them all. As for Vlad and a handful of others, they had little qualms of accepting the offer. Overnight, Vlad led the defectors on a campaign to subdue the burned out loyalists - including his own Captain. When confronted with a desperate bid to appeal to his own sense of loyalty and honor, Vlad stared his captain coldly in the eye, and said: “I stood, I fought, and The Empire failed us, and is dead. If you want to die for a lost cause, then I will oblige you.”
Vladic’s fate was sealed as he vented the loyalists out of an airlock, and pledged his loyalty to the First Order.
THE WOLF
Integration within the cold of the First Order was a drastic change, but not an unwelcome one. Where Vladic’s familial connections had previously done much to jumpstart his career, he would find no such preferential treatment among the Order. He was demoted to Junior Lieutenant, largely due to the roles that needed filling as opposed to any slight he may have caused. But where some of his compatriots continued to struggle, Vladic would rise above with the same cool, methodical demeanor that carried him through the Eternal Fleet academy. Through the decades that would follow, the rest of the galaxy would upend in a tumult, with Empires and Alliances rising and falling. Meanwhile, the First Order hid in the shadows; quietly growing in power and influence amidst the ashes of the Eternal Empire’s faded legacy. Vladic, for his part, would continue to distinguish himself - far and beyond the accomplishments he achieved in the Eternal Fleet.
After demonstrating his skill many times over at cool, rational decision making under pressure - Vladic would eventually rise to the rank of Admiral, and prosecute the covert pacification of several obstinate Imperial Warlords; adding their material and manpower to the ranks of the First Order. Eventually, Vladic would rise further as the Grand Admiral of the Fleet - mirroring the uncompromising vision of ultimate order instilled within him over three decades of service.
- PERSONALITY
-
Vladic cuts a near-perfect image of a man brought low by a failed state, but reforged by the ideals of the First Order. He expects ultimate dedication and loyalty to the same vision that gave him purpose those many years ago, with no room for divergence or disagreement under his command. He is widely known among those in the fleet as ‘The White Wolf’. Many theorise that the name is derived from premature white hairs that have flecked his temples since his early adulthood, yet its continued on due to his reputation for cleverness and brutality - be it toward enemies of the First Order, or those who make themselves personal enemies of himself.
While his cold and thoughtful demeanor can be quite unsettling, he is not known to be as unreasonable as others within the First Order. It is said that under his command, ‘A mistake can be forgiven. But continued mistakes are a choice, and are treated as such.’ He can be very forgiving and surprisingly magnanimous at times, yet brutal and decisive when it is obvious that someone will not learn the other way. He only speaks when he needs to, and carries a level of command and respect that few others can discount. He is widely regarded to be among the few within a room who can keep a level head in a high pressure situation, and can be depended upon to do nearly anything he needs to, to further the vision of absolute order.

-
+Cool Headed- It is very hard to rattle Vladic, even under the most high pressure of situations.
STRENGTHS
+Calculating- Drakov is very capable of analyzing complicated situations from multiple angles, often predicting the moves of his opponents several steps ahead - as if on a Dejarik board.
+Command Presence- Although naval discipline dictates that a commander’s authority is absolute aboard his vessel, Drakov possesses a natural commanding presence. All that is often required of him is simply to glance or glower at someone to communicate his perception of an issue. When he speaks, his words carry weight.
+Eternal Fleet Doctrine- Drakov’s approach to fleet doctrine is that of overwhelming force focused on a singular weak-point - exploiting the weakness as completely and effectively as possible for real and noticeable gains. He believes in overwhelming firepower and air supremacy, to leave little hope for his enemies.
+The White Wolf- Paired with his focus on overwhelming firepower and supremacy, is a very cunning and unpredictable approach. Drakov prides himself on catching others - even members of his own staff, by surprise.
-Engimatic- While thoughtful and calculating, Drakov rarely shares his thoughts without a reason. This adds a mystique about him that others may find intimidating, or perhaps frustrating. He is a very hard man to read.
WEAKNESSES
-Decisive - Although it will take him much thought and consideration (and at times advice from his staff) to arrive at a decision, when he makes one - it may as well be forged in iron. While he is known to be tactically flexible (as no plan ever survives contact with the enemy), in matters of organization, discipline, or policy - if a decision has already been made, he becomes very entrenched with the choice, and rarely changes his mind without an exceptionally valid reason.
-Absolute Authority - Drakov does not tolerate insubordination by his underlings, or encroachment on his authority within the Fleet by his peers. Should anyone other than the Supreme Leader do so, he will respond very firmly and with great finality - viewing it as a personal slight and a professional deviance from the First Order’s ideals.
-Intimidating - Because of his enigmatic, and at times perceived-mercurial nature, many are intimidated by the Grand Admiral. He may not be violent or enraged - but it is known that a cold and silent flame can be more deadly than a hot and bright one. Some of his underlings may delay in sharing details indicative of incompetence or dereliction.
-Remorseless - There is very little Drakov won’t do in the pursuit of accomplishing his objective, or the ultimate goal of the First Order.
