OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a new set of VCSM Badges that now work with the new Biocomm Network.

  • Image Two (x)

[*]Canon Link: N/A
[*]Restricted Missions: N/A
[*]Primary Source: Vital Communications Security Monitor (x) | Central Command Biocomm Network (x)
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: First Order Corps of Imperial Engineers
  • Model: VCSM-02
  • Affiliation: The First Order | Closed-Market
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass Produced
    First Order Military Members
  • First Order Government Members

[*]Material:
  • Platinum
  • Reinforced Titanium
  • Small Isolinear Chips
  • Smart DNA Coder

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Enables vital signs of government and military members to be monitored, allowing the First Order to keep track of operators in both major groups.
  • Works with the new Central Command Biocmm Network to communicate wirelessly for example when aboard ships, in prominent installations or military bases.
  • Has a limited range to increase security of the new network
  • Runs off of smaller sized power cells and so must be charged frequently
  • Limited to one badge per person, if you lose or misplace yours, you must pay to replace it.
  • Vulnerable to munitions fire of any sort, energy or kinetic.
  • Enables members of both military and government communities to communicate more effectively and securely than say a holo line.
Strengths:
  • Vitals: Works to monitor vital signs of the person wearing it.
  • Communications Enables communications with anyone by simply pressing the button and speaking the rank/title and the name of that member.
  • Security: Coded with a unique biorhythmic security feature, this badge makes it hard for hackers to get into. Giving the person wearing it a sense of security.
  • Unlimited Indirect Range: The Smart DNA Coder enables a seemingly unlimited range, so long as the badge stays within the network.
Weaknesses:
  • Limited Direct Range: Works within a limited range, meant to provide direct communication capabilities within fifty feet/fifteen point twenty four meters.
  • Munitions: Vulnerable to slugs, shatters, and various projectile and energy weapons which can destroy the badge.
  • Battery Powered: Runs on small power cells, that often have to either be replaced or recharged.
  • In Network: Works only within the First Order realms (or on First Order ships equipped with the CCBN). Outside of the Network the badge does not work (aside from member to member communications) and cannot communicate to the main network.
DESCRIPTION

With the recent development of the new First Order designed CCBN (Central Command Biocomm Network), it was only natural that the 'badge,' get updated. Just as before the badge is designed to keep up with military members (and government officials). The badge remains the same in its function, working to monitor the vital signs of those who wear it, enable them to communicate with one another and allow a more effective response time of emergency responders. The First Order having now created and installed its new network in virtually every ship, station and military installations (as well as some government ones) it could conceive of created the badge to work with that new network.

Unlike before however wherein the network and the badge worked on an unlimited range and network, it is only the network that is seemingly unlimited. The new badge does require members to be within the certain range of one another (much like ancient analog devices) in order to work properly. One might wonder then how it would be that emergency responders would be able to identify a downed pilot or officer wearing the badge. The answer lies within its new Smart DNA Coder, the Coder has a built in sensor that alerts the Coder as to if and when a member is unconscious the Coder then sends an alert using the unique biorhythmic signature built into the Badge. This is then sent to the network and it is the network that carries out the response. This is considered 'indirect' communication, this came about as a result of Kuragin where the Stormtroopers and Naval Crew lost to the station were in distress but could hardly get a signal out due to the overworked and stressed network.

Just as before the device stands at 1.62" wide x 2.08" tall and 0.36" deep / .41m wide by .52m tall by .009m deep. It is still a small, handheld device that can be attached to uniform or clothing using small magnetic strips. These strips can be embedded into the uniform or in the case of the Stormtrooper Corps built into the armor itself. As in the past, the VCSM has a small space reserved for the 'black box,' an audio recording device that kicks in during an emergency or when the member has been rendered unconscious this is to help investigators, medical professionals and anyone else who may need access to it to determine what transpired. A small microphone and speaker is also embedded into the badge to make direct communications more efficient.

Heavily reliant on the network to be able to communicate effectively and does not work when outside of the network. The device comes in two color sets the red and black or gold and silver standards. The device has two modes just as before the 'standby' mode in which it is not in active use (i.e. the member is on vacation, or the device is out for repairs) and the 'active' mode which lasts anywhere between four to six hours and it must be recharged.

The older badges have been collected and discreetly shipped to various incineration planets or other sites to be destroyed properly as the new badges come into play.

Just checking to make sure I understand what's going on here.

So long as the device is within range of the network, such as a ship or a military installation that's hooked up, it can communicate point to point with any other device in the network. When it's outside the network, the range is limited to fifty feet. That includes the Smart DNA Coder, yes?

fifty feet
Please convert this to metric. All measurements have to be in metric for Factory submissions.

In the Network, it's golden.

Out of the Network, and within fifty feet / fifteen meters tops and that's only person to person communication.

Without the Network, it cannot communicate to a ship/station and the signal weakens beyond the range presented.

And yes, coder included.

Cool. If you edit this part to make it more clear, I think this should be good to go.
