SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Blaster Resistance, potential blaster reflection.
  • Mild protection from knives and small vibroblades.
Strengths:
  • Vitafiber provides ample blaster resistance, and due to the application of sith alchemy across the polyfibe that is interwoven with the shell spider silk it is capable of potentially reflecting or partially deflecting blaster bolts from smaller arms, such as blaster pistols and low-powered blaster rifles. In much the same manner that a sith sword is capable of reflecting blaster bolts, due to the presence of a reverse magnetic polarity across the polyfibe - a metal which is threaded and used in common armor making, so, too, is Vitafiber. Shell spider silk already provides a resistance to blaster bolts, and the ability to deflect it, which is further enhanced through Sith alchemy and with being interwoven with the alchemized polyfibe.
  • Due to being made of alchemized shell spider silk and being interwoven with alchemized polyfibe, Vitafiber provides a modest degree of protection from small vibroblades and the common knife. Repeated attempts to cut through the material, or simply a sharper blade or necessary strength, will rend through Vitafiber with a small amount of resistance.
Weaknesses:
  • Vitafiber is, when putting it into context with textiles, heavy. At 11.4 grams per square meter it is more than five times the average weight of shell spider silk, the material from which it is derived, and heavier than the polyfibe that is interwoven with the aforementioned silk. While vitafiber is intended to be used for clothing worn out of the battlefield, it is noticeably more cumbersome than other similar textiles.
  • Being created with methods that utilize the dark side, Vitafiber is permanently imbued with its presence. This makes wearing the material as a form of stealth impractical, requiring any who would plan to do such a mastery over masking their presence in order to avoid immediate detection. The aura is so noticeable that merely being in the vicinity of a force user would be enough to make their presence known.
DESCRIPTION
Created by Irina Volkov, and based on the sample of a similar material procured by the Sith Empire from an alchemist that disappeared following an invasion in the past, Vitafiber is intended to serve as a material for semi-protective casual clothing and similar textiles to be used by members of the Sith Empire. As promised by the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Carnifex, materials would be provided by his servants and their services would be lent to the witch for the completion of this project.

Vitafiber, due to the amount of work required to be put into it by the witch and those who were assigned to work with her to create it, is only accessible to the more prominent members of the Sith Empire (PCs only), and only in rationed amounts for those who qualify for its use (Semi-Unique Production at maximum for future submission). It provides an ample degree of blaster resistance, offering the potential to reflect or partially deflect blaster bolts received from blaster pistols and low-powered blaster rifles - proving ineffective against the higher powered blaster rifles often seen in battles on the front lines, which this material is incapable of reflect, deflecting, and only is able to survive a few shots from before being penetrated through.

Due to the nature of including polyfibe and shell spider silk, this material can also resist the strikes of small vibroblades and common knives that someone in a casual setting might require protection from - while large vibroblades, such as a sword or similarly sized and powered vibroweapon, would be able to rend through the material rather quickly. An individual with a large degree of strength or a weapon with a sufficiently sharp edge would also be able to cut through the material.

And, lastly, the material is significantly heavier than most other fabrics, especially the shell spider silk utilized in its creation, and is also heavier than polyfibe in a square meter comparison (1 m2 of polyfibe weighs less than 1 m2 of Vitafiber). Which this is not as cumbersome as the metals used in armor, and possibly comparable to leather and similar materials, it is still a noticeable difference from lightweight and expensive clothing materials that one might be used to, providing a disadvantage in a combative role in a casual setting.
