Perhaps you had taken a look into the more undisturbed groups in the dark? Or perhaps these cults had grown and thus more traction had been given to them, it was hard to say considering little information was out there to begin with. Those who investigated oft didn't even understand what these people were doing.

Lunatics, madmen.. The damned. All seemed to fall under this scrutiny and decisive conclusion regarding these strings of cults and their goddess.

With all their occult trinkets and charms, it was easy to see the madness. Some stories claiming to see a black door, others whispered about a dreamer, a great goddess of nightmare.

One thing was for certain within this endless riddle of uncertainties and esoterica, the recent upsurge in darksider cult activity had been disturbing the area. Locals complaining about strange lights, sounds, feelings of unease.

The radical among these locals who had tried to solve the issue themselves came back polluted with fear, unable to even sleep for days on end now.

And now within the present day we return to the question, what brought you here in the first place?

Coruscant's lower levels had been a location that Lily had generally avoided during her time at the Jedi Temple, partly because she was too busy training or enjoying the shops and sights that the upper levels tended to have, but also because she knew it was filled with darker elements of society, criminals, gangs and dangers that she was keen on interacting with unless she had to. It was probably some of her nobility rearing an ugly head of turning away at the suffering of others, however, there had been times when she was in the lower levels due to her role as a Jedi. Keeping the peace and ensuring the safety of others was something important.

And lately, there had been a turning in her mindset, she was focusing more on the important duties of the Jedi and wanting to be more proactive in helping.

It was what drew her to the lower levels of Coruscant. There had been rumours, murmurings of cult gatherings. Nothing on the level of the Kainites, but cults were rarely a good thing. Lily did not think this would be a positive group of people, especially since they were running around in the shadow levels of Coruscant, perhaps attempting to take advantage of those still suffering and grieving from the battle that took place recently.

With her hair tied tightly into a high ponytail and fixing her Jedi attire, Lily made sure she was presentable and giving the air of someone who was capable and a shining beacon of hope. That was the role of the Jedi as far as she understood it and it was exactly how she would be. Walking towards the rumoured location of the cult, she looked around the area, inspecting things before she entered. Lily wanted to make sure she was doing it right and avoiding any traps if it could be helped.

For her kind, they could all easily see she did not belong here... Glares and intense stares given to the Jedi who was hoping to give these people hope, but alas, hope was in short supply down here.

Almost all wanted nothing to do with you, their envy and disdain easily felt as they eyed your pristine robes and clean skin. It had taken a while for anyone to give you information as to where this reported activity was even at.

The distinct lack of police force made it so you had to follow rumor, but alas you had finally made it to the place you sought.

The building looked to have once been used as a factory, the name of both this place and the company who onced owned it seemed to be withered away by time.

The building in rusted disrepair called out to you, the yawning abyss all around temping your light to enter.

The silence grew louder as you stared, all noise around the area ceased to exist. The normal high frequency sounds of Coruscant had died, and in their place stood a profound nothingness.

No traps seemed to be on the outside of the building, further inspection allowed you to find that there were two ways to enter. The first and most obvious being the front door, while the other was a loose window that could be pushed up with enough back put into it.

Finding that there were traps that she could clearly see and there was only two entrances, Lily gave careful consideration to her actions. Breathing in deeply, the reluctance from the people living in the surrounding to offer her any information or help had been a little disheartening. While Lily was not someone who could represent those living in poverty nor did she have any experience of that was even slightly to a life in poverty, she was trying to branch her experiences out more. Be more sympathetic and have a better understanding of those she was trying to protect every time she went and fought against the Sith.

"Front would be easier to get into but very clearly the obvious option in terms of being well guarded and if there was anyone inside, then I would be spotted likely right away..." Lily softly spoke to herself as she considered her two options for the situation. This old building having lost any identifying marks was a sad sight as well, she was not sure what it could have once been used for or what might be in there to be aware of. Since it was abandoned, there could be old machines and tools that were dangerous for her to keep an eye for.

Looking at the window, "window it is." Lily sighed as she used the Force to jump up to the window and used her strength to slowly push it open. Silently dropping down and taking her time to inspect the area.

As your boots land against the ground, your eyes struggle to see past the looming darkness that seemed to flood the place. The old industrial lights flickering in and out, signaling this old place no doubt had power issues...

After a moment the lights swing back to life, allowing you to see a body laying upon the ground. Garbed in robes that had a strange symbol on them, what appeared to be a pentacle sporting a ruby red gem or eye in the center, stag horns sprouting out from each side of the pentacle.

It had to be the body of a cult member, if any further inspection was done there didn't seem to be anything that labeled the once living person as a member of the Sith Order.

Your ears pick up commotion downstairs, faint yelling and sounds of metallic clangs. It sounded like some wild beast was running amok amidst shelves full of things, and the ever growing feeling of the dark had become stronger.

Everything inside you was screaming to leave, to get away from this oppressive shroud that loomed. It was no normal feeling, for it was no normal disturbance.

When she dropped to the ground, her eyes were slow to adjusting to the dark, looming setting, she decided to focus on her Force Sense to ensure that she was not walking around blindly. She reached for her Lightsaber and held the cross guard hilt in her hand, not igniting it yet but she would hold it ready to react to whatever she felt in the Force. Lily was beginning to hold an uneasy sensation in her gut, something wrong was going on here. Nothing on a level to a Kainite cult activity but something was deeply wrong.

Sensing that there was a deceased body near her, it wasn't till the lights triggered back on that Lily was able to examine the body. Finding a strange attire, it was clear that this was a cultist of some kind, but what they were worshipping or who was they were worshipping, Lily had no clue. All she could do is assume that while not clearly linked to the Sith Order, there was some dark side connection surrounding this cult. Many cults with this style of marking and corrupting influence to the surrounding area tended to be dark side in nature.

The sensation of needing to leave, screaming internally to flee, only drove Lily deeper. She was a fighter and she confronted trouble head on, whether or not that was to her own detriment was another discussion. For now, Lily activated her Lightsaber, knowing that the bright cyan blue colour drew attention to herself but she was also preparing herself for future confrontation.

The chaotic noises downstairs seemed to become faded, and as you went down those old metallic steps your eyes got to see what had happened..

The room, littered with occult symbols and charms looked like a mess indeed. The only non damaged object seemed to be a shrine to some winged figure, sporting stag horns and a singular large red eye. The body seemed strange, but mostly akin to some sort of dragon.

You couldn't help but feel watched, the sensation growing and trickling down your spine as you got closer to the shrine. Once again your primal instincts flared, your hairs standing up as the illogical was slowly surrounding you.

With one last loud sound coming from the basement below, a peek down there would reveal cultists who were still alive. Dark energies flowed from them as they seemed to have stopped the demonic beast that had caused the chaos, they didn't seem to notice you, keeping to their dark art.

The demonic beast seemed to be in a daze, its very energy being drained by whatever these people were doing.

The many charms and idols that were making a mess were likely of some interest but Lily didn't know where they came from, she hadn't read up much on cults and their specific appearances as well as their idols. That had been reading she was going to get around at some point later on. Lily needed to make note of the style and look of these items, the iconography would perhaps reveal more on the cult and she could even find a way to end this cult.

Especially since they seemed to be only growing in their presences.

Igniting her Lightsaber, the cyan blue light lit the room and Lily breathed in deeply, focusing on the Light. Focusing on the powers of the Light Side that she knew she had. "Stop this! Stand down and surrender. I am placing you under arrest for criminal activity and disrupting the peace." Lily called out, her voice firm and unwavering. She was not shaken by what she was sensing.

Lily needed to be strong. She needed to be a beacon in this moment and she needed to end this ritual whatever it was.

The girl's shouting had disturbed whatever ritual the cultists had been channeling prior, leading to the ward restricting the demonic being to shatter.

Despite the threat of a Jedi right there on the stairs behind them, they were more focused on trying to recapture the vicious being... It sadly jumping through a gateway and vanishing somewhere.

"Damn it all to the seven hells!"

One cultist barks, her garb being a little more ornate.. Perhaps the leader of this band?

"Just our luck, some ignorant child stumbles in..."

The woman facepalming, the claws of her gauntlets scrapping against her metallic mask as she fumed.

"What do we-"

Another cultist tries to speak up, only to be cut off by the angered leader.

"Nothing we can do now! By the lady... All that effort, wasted.."

She glances over to Lily, a mad glare easily seen from the eye sockets of her mask.

"All thanks to you!"

The leader's dark aura grew, almost as if she was close to a force rage. The violent emotions being sent right to the Jedi who had broken everything...

"Attuned to the whispers, I hear her words from beyond."

The male cultist chants, an occult sigil forming under him as a shadowy mass started to gather around him.

"Together, hidden reality becomes manifest."

The leader chimes in, the same sigil forming under her as the shadowy mass grew...

Something was watching...

The choice had been made, the leader igniting her own blade while the other cultist rushed to grab a rifle.

They had decided to fight. Lily wasn't best pleased with the option, she had hoped that she could resolve this without violence.

It was overly optimistic but Lily couldn't help it, she wanted answers on what was going on and if the cultists fought her, they were likely aiming to fight to the death. Something that would leave her without answers as to what the ritual was meant to be doing and who they worshipped. Lily watched as the leader ignited their own Lightsaber and another went for a rifle of some kind. Reaching out with the Force, Lily froze the person reaching for the rifle and flung them away from the weapon. Attempting to ensure that she didn't have to work too hard to defend herself.

Especially since there was eyes of someone else watching her, she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck prickling in response. The Force around them felt like there was another presence but where, Lily hadn't been able to focus on yet. Breathing in deeply, Lily looked to the leader and let out a slow sigh, "lay down your weapon, surrender peacefully and we can work something out. I just need to know what was going on here and who you are serving."

While she was attempting to resolve this peacefully, Lily twirled her Lightsaber into a defensive position and held the cross guard Lightsaber in two hands. Keeping a firmly and steady grip, ready for anything that this cult leader might attempt to do.

The cultist had been tossed, hitting a wall.

"We were in the middle of banishing that beast, before you ruined it.."

You could practically taste the hate on the woman's tongue, still almost in a rage she points a claw at Lily.

"Surrender?! PROTECTING THESE PEOPLE AND YOU ORDER US TO SURRENDER?!"

The deep seeded anger holding a bitter truth to it, alas.. Lost in a rage the cultist vanishes into a black smog, appearing behind Lily. Attempting to use their rage enhanced blows to keep the Jedi locked in their defense, while the other cultist would use the opportunity to get up and attempt to shuffle over to his rifle at all costs.

With the awkward position on the stairs, and the threat of the rifleman looming over you, a faint yet soft voice whispers in your mind.

"Did you see them? How they all glared as you walked by?"

Laughter echos in your head, faint for now... Yet something took great joy in the fact all the people here that lived under you hated you.

"Do you plan on spilling their blood? To crush the darkness.. That is what they are right?"

It was an odd feeling, deep within, your hands craved to adjust their position. All it took was even a slightly more aggressive stance to for sure land a hit on the lead cultist, and it would allow better response time to handle the rifleman...

"Your actions had instilled unnatural fear and suffering to these locals. Their complaints reached the New Jedi Order and I was sent to investigate." She did not believe they had been attempting to banish the creature, nor had they been here to help those around this area. Help did not cause others pain, she knew that and she knew that whatever they were doing it was not making people feel safe. "I suspect you were more likely attempting to shackle the beast to your will."

While Lily was not versed in dark magic and she had no idea on the power that had been used here, her gut spoke for her in that moment. There was something nefarious going on and she was more than ready to figure out what that was.

Sensing the rage enhanced blows, Lily defaulted to Vaapad, using the anger and emotions of her opponent to ensure her own wellbeing and high defence. Blocking the attacks and keeping defensive as she avoided any killing blows. Hearing the voice in her head, it was foreign and attempting to trigger her fears. Her anxieties surrounding those around here hating her. Lily breathed in deeply, and focused on the fight, adopting the combat meditation that she had been taught at the beginning of her training.

"Your attempts to invade my mind will not work." She had assumed it was the leader of the cultist attempting this. attempting to turn her mind and body against itself.

She reached for the rifle with the Force and attempted to pull it towards her to slash in half when she saw the opportunity. Lily was keeping herself calm as she felt the voice try encouraging her to strike more aggressively. It wasn't what she had been taught, it wasn't who she was. Lily kept her breathing calm for now, focused on the fight.

The leader seemed to not wish to speak anymore, but it was clear that the words of the Jedi only made the woman seethe harder. The boiling anger overloading into a rupturing force scream, it was enough to make ears bleed and flesh rend as the mighty waves of hate radiated from the leader.

All the wild the one reaching for the gun would instead send a tendril of lightning at the gun in order to make it explode as the Padawan brought it closer to cut it.

"Our mission is to subdue entities that feed off the suffering, do you really think that people that don't understand what we doing aren't going to think we are up to something?"

The other cult member seemed to be the only one willing to speak, figuring the explosion and powerful scream would take the Jedi down a peg.

"STAND!"

The insides of your mind called out, a push from your guts to scream back in retaliation.

After some time, a daunting feeling enters the room. Causing the cultists to back off and stop, the leader even dropping her weapon in an instant. They shuddered in a primal fear, too afraid to even step an inch or speak further.

You would not be spared either, the feeling of fear creeping and crawling up your spin. Mind clouded with every primal desire to run in fear, yet there would be a high chance that your body shared the same effects as the cultists, frozen.

In the center of the room, a raven black door had seemed to appear out of nowhere.

The Force Scream wracked against Lily hard. She was not great with the Force and had always struggled to figure out ways to defend from Force based attacks, at least since she had become a Jedi. It was deafening and brought Lily to her knees. Only her subconscious defensive mechanisms prevented her eardrums from bursting and lead her to suffer from permanent hearing loss or damaged. The explosion of the rifle also caused shards of sharp metal to scratch her body and even embed into her body.

Lily grunted and growled, her fist punched the ground and winced slightly at the hard pain that caused the other scratches and cuts to be dull in comparison. It was just a simple move and only something that worked long enough for Lily to rise back up without looking like she had been hurt seriously.

"All you have done is attempt to attack me. If your intentions were pure or for the benefit of others, we would have simply spoken and I would have apologised for disrupting your ritual. However, you decided attacking me was acceptable." Lily stated back, recovering from the scream and adjusting to the pain coursing through her body.

Looking to the door, Lily breathed in deeply and prepared herself, she knew that she was going to be facing the true villain behind these cultists. "What is that door?" Lily demanded to know, hoping to get an answer before whoever was on the other side stepped through.

What would normally be followed by counter insults or further arguing, was replaced with something far louder. Something not a soul ever expected to be this loud, and yet.. With the wave of terror that held the cultists frozen like a deer in headlights.. The silence, was deafening.

It was as if the very world and time itself came to a standstill, and the young Padawan was caught in a vacuum. With each cultist not moving an inch, speaking not a sound.

Slowly, yet surly, the flickering lights went out one by one. Starting with the ones closest to that black door, each being snuffed out.. One, two, three, four... Everyone got to watch as darkness overtook the room around them.

The only light left was a dim red glow from the cult leader's saber, faintly giving them all sight up until it too was gently powered down by something.

Your own saber had been powered off, any attempts to turn it back on resulting in failure.

The sound of a door slowly opening flooded the room, the feeling of primal dread sapping itself firmly into the room to keep an uneasy atmosphere you couldn't shake.

"Amusing yourself are you?"

A soft voice laced with malice asks, the question having a smug aftertaste.

"In this mortal coil, you oft not understand what you were not designed to understand in the first place. But alas, your desire to arrest has resulted in the escape of a demonic entity."

A pair of glowing Golden amber eyes squint at you within that darkness.

"It's going to kill, but fret not... It won't touch your precious upper levels."

The cultists still have yet to speak, and judging by what sounds you could hear.. Have yet to move even still.

"The ones it kills, I will make sure their screams haunt you for as long as I desire. Each and every time you seek respite, I will be there to scrape away everything and flood you with nothing by nightmare. This is the cost of the task I must do now, I will need to seal away the entity myself."

The eyes fade, sinking into the blackness.

Suddenly you feel yourself being pulled, not by any hands as far as you could tell.. But by some powerful force that flung you in the direction of the door.

Within mere moments you could hear a door slam shut behind you, and.. You felt like you were floating within water? Still lost in the void, no light came. Your own was being violently pushed down, it felt like something was hugging around your very soul with how cold it felt wherever you are.

Suddenly a massive red eye opens, staring you down. It's glow allowing your eyes to get a vague look at this giant creature.. It was the being depicted on the statue.

It's maw grinned slightly as the eye focused onto you.

"I offer onto you an accord, little one."

A commanding voice echoes within your skull, ringing the senses.

It waited.

The situation went from a rough spot where Lily was going to have to battle through her pain to overcome the odds to a severely dire situation. Whatever was the being in charge of this cult, a being far more powerful that the woman with the Lightsaber, they had decided to curse Lily for disturbing their plans. She still held doubts that the cults intentions were pure in nature or they were trying to help those around here. However, Lily knew that the curse was going to be a serious situation.

"You assume that the Jedi will do nothing after I report this situation here." Lily countered, she trusted that once she explained the dangers that this creature would pose now that it had escaped, Jedi far more experienced than Lily would step in and deal with it. "It is our job to ensure the safety and protection of all civilians. Not just those living in the higher levels." Lily knew she had privilege and wealth that those here would understand. However, Lily knew she needed to use her privilege to do good for those less fortunate.

When she was dragged into a portal and faced with a gigantic, demonic being. An entity that far exceeded her expectations on who would be behind the door. Breathing in deeply, Lily focused on the light within herself. She was a Jedi and even in the face of horrors such as this, she would remained steeled and dedicated to that light.

"I will not accept an offer from a being that threatened me with a curse with their previous breath." Lily growled, her steel eyes glinting in bright defiance. She would take the curse over sacrificing her soul or the souls of others. Since beings like this would only cause pain and suffering, she could sense it. Lily felt it in her core. "You hold no authority in Coruscant and you are not aligned with the New Jedi Order or the Galactic Alliance, I was within my right to ensure what your cultists were doing was not endangering the lives of our civilian citizens."

Even in the face of something absolutely monstrous and impossibly large, Lily remained firm in her convictions and beliefs in the Jedi and in the Light Side of the Force.

The creature's sinister grin grew, it's blood red maw taking a sharp visage.

"Ahhh, put thine definence at ease for such foolishness thought as bravery will do you no favours here."

The giant creature's hand gently cusps the area around the Jedi, blackened and elongated nails forming a pseudo cage.

"I harbor no doubts that you or others of your kind would attempt to track the being, but within your haste to divvy out justice you have doomed innocent souls."

The eye focuses more intently upon the Padawan.

"Do you so firmly believe that you or others within your order could banish it? That your blades would simply and violently cleave it in twain? If the answer was so simple, my followers would have no reason to do the work they do. This is no fairy tale my dear, not everything can be so easily beaten with light."

A dark slithering thing starts to slowly make it's way down a blackened claw.

"Necessary evils exist all around us, for none in your order could know the correct answer. To know and learn such occult knowledge... If even to save others, is heretical is it not?"

It was easy to see that this creature took great satisfaction in this.

"The refusal of a pact is to be met with a curse, a hex burned not only within thine flesh, but thine very soul."

The slithering thing quickly strikes, looking as if it burrowed painfully into your chest. There was no blood, no flesh torn asunder by whatever this was. And yet the entry point burned, and a strange coldness enveloped around your soul.

xMi5vgS.png

"A part of me shall haunt you till my amusement burns away, and my mark shall stay branded into thine flesh. Ahh but the grand irony is that in order to have someone other than I to remove the taint upon thine soul, you would have to seek out and work with an occultist of high skill. One potent enough in forbidden dark arts... Perhaps then you might understand the flaws of thine order."

Its mouth opens, a long tongue made from the damned coils out, the hundreds of sprouting arms latch and pull you further in to that red maw. Yet as those blackened fangs closed around you, the darkness fades and you find yourself in a fancy.. Albeit rather gothic looking office room. A strange looking woman sat at her fancy desk, sorting through paperwork. Aside from the sounds of the pen and the occasional ticking of a clock. Silence filled the room up until the woman scooted her chair back a little. Her eyes.. An intense Golden amber, they watched you.

"Am I to assume my cultists might find the peace to bury their friend?"

The way she spoke, the way she held a keen smugness about her.. Was this petite woman the being you were hexxed by moments ago?

"You overestimate your own cultists. If they were truly powerful enough to banish the creature then my mere words would not have distracted them enough to break their spells." Lily countered, she had not attacked them or threatened them with serious harm, all she had done was spoken and they then failed do whatever it was they were there to do. "The Jedi are many and varied, you'll be surprised to see what they know of and what they can do." Lily maintained her defiance and her belief.

She shook her head, "necessary evil is a lie. It is never necessary and it is a choice. One taken by those who refuse to accept the consequences of their actions." Lily did not care what the curse would entail, if she did cause harm to innocent lives by disrupting the ritual, then she would accept her punishment. However, she did not believe you had to surrender to evil to prevent people from being harmed. "Learning other ways in the Force is not heretical. Our way is not the only way." It was how one used the Force that truly mattered, and whether they attempted to inflict suffering upon others.

Perhaps ideologist of her but no matter how massive and threatening this creature was, she refused to show any fear or weakness. Standing stoically as possible.

"Or until I burn that part of you with the Light. I very much doubt you can stand someone uses the Light Side of the Force at the most powerful against you." While Lily could seek out help from a Jedi Master or her own Master, she decided to deal with this issue alone. It was something she believed she could learn to handle on her own. "Perhaps you will then learn that you are no god, nor are you worthy of worship. That will be my mercy that allows you to live, not my inability to harm you."

There was fire behind her steel gaze, she refused to feel threatened or made to feel small by anyone.

When things changed and shifted around her, she found herself in an office and in front of a woman. She breathed in deeply and stared down, "I will be arresting your cultists and the New Jedi Order will be investigating the area. Their friend's body is evidence." Never show fear, never show yourself to be fazed by the enemy and never let them know they can beat you. That was all she could reminding herself.

"As to be expected."

She says with no context.

"You wear your ignorance well if you believe that a Jedi would ever have and use such knowledge. I have seen and read through enough of your library to understand this..."

Meaning at some point this woman had entered the temple, either hidden... Or during some other time.

"Oh indeed the Jedi are many and varied! I have seen many, killed many, beaten many... Be they master or Padawan I have yet to meet one who can properly defend people."

Adeline says, matching their serious and stoic attitude with a grim smugness.

"It will be nice to see at least some level of force down there, though I am sure the downtrodden below will hate every moment of it. How about you spend your time and resources helping get rid of a few gangs in the area? They should be easily handled, I have had them subdued for a while. Could at least be something good you do with your limited time, right?"

She checks her black nails, keeping a well-pleased attitude.

"Oh goodness how time flies."

Despite the ticking sounds of the clock, any attempts to focus in on the hands resulted in a blur.

"You wear your own ignorance well to assume you know the mindset of every Jedi out there." Lily stated boldly. There were many Jedi out in the galaxy, some were followers of the New Jedi Order and the mindset that Order held similar to Lily. However there were plenty of other Jedi who did not, who followed their own paths.

What they knew, what they could do. That was something even this being could not assume to understand. Even reading a single library was not the distilled understanding of all Jedi. Though how this being got into the temple was some concern since Lily knew Coruscant's temple was highly guarded.

"Whatever you assume to know from the limited reading of a single temple's library. That is a fraction of the knowledge the Jedi as a whole has collectively." Lily remained firm in her voice.

She stepped forward and placed her hands on her hips, defiance and determination burning in her steel gaze. "Well, today you have met your match then. I am not someone to just roll over and I will defend the lives of innocents, always." She was currently unshaken with her resolve and belief in her abilities.

"If you believe the Jedi do not spend their time assisting those on the lower levels then you are truly misguided in understanding our order. I was there today because they heard the request for aid from those who knew your cultists were causing harm." Lily stated in a sharp tone, refusing to allow those she had grown close with be besmirched by someone who had truly no idea how things worked with their order.

Lies would fly in Lily's mind and thinking the Jedi ignored those struggling in the lower levels of Coruscant was a blatant lie.

"Perhaps you are the one wasting too much of your own limited time then." There was a threatening tone to Lily's voice.
