The forearm's exoskeletal lattice was Songsteel, molecularly aligned, silver-white, and unnervingly light, capable of shrugging off the thermal shear of a lightsaber with a kind of arrogant ease. Micro-actuators nested under each segment, translating neural impulses into fluid articulation so seamlessly that, to Dankaia Virkenn, it would feel less like a prosthetic and more like an extension of a thought. Every component, every fiber-optic nerve thread, was engineered with her biometrics in mind: her musculature, her response latency, her combat stance. A limb made for no one else, by design.

But Songsteel perfection had its inherent cost.
