OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To provide a spray-applicable painkiller for general field use

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: anesthetic (painkiller)
  • Method of Consumption: topical spray (can be inhaled in this form as well, but not recommended by manufacturer)
  • Average Life: 3 hours
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: No significant nutritional value. As with any medicine, there is a small potential for allergies which typically includes hives, itches, and rashes but it may progress to full-blown anaphylactic shock in some patients. Vinchaine is primarily designed as topical anesthetic, where it primarily competes against symoxin and nullicaine. Unlike these two previous medicines, however, Vinchaine tends to have stronger but shorter lasting effects, as well as the ability to provide pain relief deeper into tissues thanks to chromostring delivery method. As with many other anesthetic drugs (especially symoxin), large doses of Vinchaine can turn it into a "knockout drug" payload in darts and syringes to put targets to sleep. Chromostring's inclusion means that if this is sprayed directly into a target's respiration tract (mouth, nose) it can very quickly induce hypoxia or coma in a target by rapidly depressing respiratory muscle tone and lung expansion.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Painkiller: As with its many counterparts, Vinchaine is primarily used as an easy to apply painkiller - just spray it onto an area experiencing pain.
  • Deep Delivery: Unlike many common topical pain relievers, Vinchaine extract penetrates deep into tissues thanks to it being delivered by chromostring. This provides significantly more pain relief to more severe injuries, such as penetrations from projectiles or internal injuries from vehicle crashes than is otherwise typically possible with topical anesthetics.
  • Incidental Weapon: As with many other anesthetics, Vinchaine can be fairly easily weaponized into a knockout gas, either deployed directly from its typical spray cannister into the target's respiratory system or via tranquilizer dart of similar system.
STRENGTHS
  • Excellent Pain Reliever: Vincha extract's excellent anesthetic power along with chromostring's providing deeper penetration means that Vinchaine is oftentimes a better pain reliever than many of its contemporaries.
  • Knockout Punch: Vinchaine can be fairly easily weaponized, a fact often exploited by resistance groups and others trying to capture personnel or animals.
WEAKNESSES
  • Allergies: As with many other medicines, there is always the chance of a user experiencing an allergic reaction to Vinchaine Spray.
  • Short-Lasting: While Vinchaine has fairly powerful effects, it's duration is often not as long as that as many other painkillers. To cope with this issue, Lucerne Biological Systems recommends pairing Vinchaine with a longer-lasting oral pain relief medication to provide continuous pain relief to severely injured patients.
DESCRIPTION
Vinchaine Spray is Lucerne Biological Systems most commonly produced topical painkiller. A favorite of those who find themselves frequently injured in the field and a common item in many individual medpacs, Vinchaine Spray distinguishes itself from its many counterparts by providing a higher degree of relief thanks to its potent Vincha extract basis and its increased tissue penetration via is chromostring delivery method. As with many other anesthetics, Vinchaine Spray can be used as an impromptu knockout weapon by the craft or desperate, leading some systems to restrict the sale of Vinchaine Spray to licensed medical professionals only, though even in such systems it is often easily obtained on the black market due to its unlicensed nature in some other systems. Given the turmoil of the galaxy constantly being involved in wars, Vinchaine spray seems likely to remain as a staple of Lucerne Biological Systems's product line-up for a long time to come.
