Josh didn't like politics either. He himself wouldn't last a day on Commenor. But they were shorthanded after the efforts to get to this point, and so Josh was just going to have to suck it up and do his best. It would be a good learning experience for the Padawans anyway. Metis said that she excelled in this field, while Ura was very nervous. He smiled slightly.
"Studying them and experiencing them or experiencing others are very different things. Don't get too overconfident. You can never know for sure what to expect."
She may have been on diplomatic missions before, but there was no telling what could happen. The battlefield was always far more predictable than politics. He liked it that way. There were some complications in battle in terms of who to hit and how, but once it was figured out? Far easier to manage. In politics, nothing was ever for sure. And nothing stayed the same for long. In politics, selfishness was always hidden far better than a body could ever be.
As the Maekrix docked, men in robes were already there to greet them. Under the hoods Josh noticed they had a light red skin with black markings across the sides of their faces. They were Force Users, they knew, same as them. They were typically quite neutral in the Force, though it was likely put under some strain under the heel of the Sith. Josh was glad they could finally free them from that strain.
“Lord Mystics” Josh greeted politely with a bow. They did not bow, though nodded their heads slightly.
“Master Dragovalor. Your presence was foreseen” one answered. They peered to his sides.
“And these are…?”
“My students” Josh answered.
“Padawans Iolar and Elpis. Come to learn more of the Voss people and the Mystics as part of their training. I pray their presence is no inconvenience, Lord Mystics.”
“Not at all, Master. It is important to teach the young ones in all ways possible. We will grant them access to the Tower of Prophecy’s archives to study as much as they wish while we discuss. Come, into the Tower. We can discuss your business inside.”
Josh frowned as the group began to walk towards the Tower.
"We appreciate your kind offer. But I'd actually like for them to be present for the talks. It's important they see how to handle these matters while they're still learning. A Jedi should know how to conduct themselves both on and off the battlefield. If your offer for study still stands after the fact though, we will happily accept your generous offer. I am sure there is plenty they could learn from there."
One of them turned to face him.
"Unfortunately not, Master Dragovalor. You are a member of the Assembly and thus have the trust of the Mystics. The presence of your students on our planet is welcome, but not within the chambers with our leaders. After the occupation of the Sith, new security measures have become necessary. I hope you understand that this is not personal. But protecting ourselves in all ways possible has become a necessity. In time, we hope that the bonds of trust between us and the Order will allow for far more free access. Please forgive us."
Josh didn't like it. It flew in the face of why he had brought the two of them. But their word was law. So he simply nodded his head.
"Understood."
He looked back to the Padawans and mouthed a few words of apology. They would have their chance in time, he hoped. Midway through the Tower, the Mystics would stop. They would be pointed towards a room where a massive library would be beholden to them.
"Voss history and customs, and the ways of the Mystic all can be found in this room. Far more than your own archives could achieve. Consider this viewing for your Padawans as a show of goodwill on our part. If they have any questions, we will have staff posted around to answer them."
