SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Magneto-field: One of the more interesting parts of the Vex 2-8 is it's Mageto-field. Similar to the Magnetic Shields used for hangers, this Magneto-field lines the outer edge of the shields. This field, unlike Magnetic Shields, doesn't hold an atmosphere, but is used to disrupt blaster, laser, and ion bolts, as well as providing EMP protection. Due to this tuning though, it provides no protection against Lightsabers.
  • Multi-field design: The Vex is used to create multiple shields used in deflector shields, particularly particle and energy shields, along with the Magneto-field.
STRENGTHS
  • Strong protective fields.
  • No heavier than a standard freighter scale shield.
WEAKNESSES
  • No Lightsaber protection.
  • The shield can be energy hungry.
DESCRIPTION
The Vex 2-8 shield generator is a multi-shield type unit created by Concord Specialized Technologies to fit withing freighter line ships. While they were much more specialized than standard shield, the Vex is able to hold off multiple kinds of firepower. While the shield is highly capable, including the use of a form of magnetic field, it does have its flaws. The shields can't handle a Lightsaber, and won't even stop it. The generator can also be quite energy hungry, so it can be draining on the ships it's installed in.
