Character Vesper "Vex" Kincaid

VESPER KINCAID
"VEX" • MASTER MECHANIC & ROGUE

AGE: 26 Years | SPECIES: Zeltron Hybrid
GENDER: Female | FORCE: Unaffiliated (Rogue)

"If it burns coaxium or runs on code, I can fix it, jury-rig it, or crack it open. Just don't ask me to sit in a circle and meditate on it."

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Vesper is an effortlessly striking woman with a magnetic presence, though she carries herself with the rugged, relaxed confidence of someone who spends her days wrist-deep in starship engines. Standing at an athletic 1.78 meters, her near-Human Zeltron heritage gives her warm, light tan skin, sharp cheekbones, and expressive hazel eyes that light up whenever she solves a complex technical problem. She wears her dark brown, wavy hair long and voluminous, often pinned back with a fabric headband to keep it out of her face while she works.

Her style is purely functional and unapologetically rough around the edges. She typically wears an olive-green mechanic’s jumpsuit layered over a dark tank top, fitted with a heavy leather tool belt and utility pouches. She’s rarely seen without a few smudges of hydrospanner grease across her cheek, collarbone, or hands, wearing her field-worn look like a badge of honor.

INVENTORY & LOADOUT

  • Primary Weapon: Modified WESTAR-35 Blaster Pistol (integrated suppressor, matte-black finish).
  • Secondary Weapon: Heavy-duty arc welder / cut-torch (doubles as a brutal close-range emergency weapon).
  • Engineering Kit: Custom leather tool harness loaded with hydrospanners, wire-cutters, micro-soldering gear, and diagnostic probes.
  • Tech & Gear: Portable slicer deck, gear-pendant neck chain holding a functional diagnostic data-crystal, and a forearm datapad.
  • Attire: Field-worn tactical jumpsuit, reinforced work boots, and fingerless work gloves.
  • Personal Property: A cracked, inert Sith Holocron (currently serving as an over-engineered desk weight).

PERSONALITY & BELIEFS

Vex is quick-witted, pathologically sarcastic, and fiercely independent to a fault. Armed with a razor-sharp dry humor, she uses witty banter as both a social disarming tactic and a stubborn wall to keep people from treating her like she needs saving. Accepting help feels to her like an admission that her calculations were off or her craftsmanship wasn't up to par. She is intensely charismatic, but her genuine romantic interest is reserved exclusively for women—specifically those who can keep up with her sharp tongue and don't mind a little engine grease.

Beliefs: Vex views the Force not as a sacred mystery or a path to power, but as the ultimate universal schematic—an underlying physical current connecting systems together. She holds deep cynicism toward both the Jedi Order and the Sith, viewing them as dogmatic fanatics who waste time meditating or posturing when they could be fixing real problems.

TACTICAL ASSESSMENT

STRENGTHS
  • Master Splicer & Mechanic: Intuitive understanding of propulsion, hyperdrives, and security networks.
  • Force-Tech Integration: Uses subtle Force sensitivity (Mechu-deru) to feel power fluctuations and structural flaws.
  • Calculated Improviser: Treats combat like a broken engine, efficiently using environmental traps and overloading circuits.

WEAKNESSES
  • Hyper-Independent: Refuses to ask for help or rely on a crew, regularly turning routine jobs into narrow escapes.
  • Detail Fixation: Can get hyper-focused on minor technical puzzles, blinding her to immediate external threats.
  • Untrained Force Combat: Self-taught and tech-focused. Completely outmatched against disciplined saber duelists.

HISTORY

Vesper was born on the lower levels of a bustling Outer Rim casino world. Discovered to have a faint connection to the Force as a child, she managed to slip past both Jedi recruiters and Sith harvesters, spending her youth slipping through the ventilation shafts and maintenance tunnels of the planet's massive underground complexes.

She quickly realized that her Force sensitivity allowed her to "listen" to machines in a way other mechanics couldn't. By her late teens, Vex had earned a reputation as the best freelance mechanic and slicer in the sector, tuning up smuggler freighters and bypassing vault locks for local syndicates.

After an "optimization" she made to a mob boss's yacht turned out to be a cleverly hidden sabotage loop designed to cover her escape from a bad contract, Vex took to the stars. Now operating as a free agent across the hyperlanes, she offers her mechanical expertise to whoever pays well, keeps her ship flying, and lets her work in peace.
