Exceptional Defensive Layering - Mandalorian Iron composite armor with carbon-durasteel reinforcement, redundant deflector shields, and damage-reduction systems allow the frigate to absorb sustained punishment far beyond most ships of its tonnage.

Average Maneuverability - The frigate's size and internal density restrict agility, leaving it vulnerable to coordinated flanking maneuvers by smaller attack craft.

Limited Carrier Throughput - With capacity for only two squadrons and no single-craft hangar, its ability to replace losses or sustain prolonged fighter operations is restricted compared to true carriers.

Over-Specialized Escort Role - Optimized for formation warfare, the ship is less effective in solo raiding, deep-space reconnaissance, or asymmetrical operations.

Cluster Bomb Launchers - Effective against enemy Starfighters and Bombers, they are equally effective against allied craft, making their deployment just as dangerous to friendly forces as they are to the enemy. Additionally, any remaining munitions that have been deployed and not detonated pose a risk to vessels that may pass through an area hours, days, or even months after an engagement, necessitating that the munitions be recovered or detonated after deployment.

DESCRIPTION

The Vengeance-type Frigate was developed to protect Mandalorian fleets in the heart of battle without slowing them to a crawl. Designed as a hybrid between a heavy escort and a light cruiser, the vessel embraced core Mandalorian tenets of overwhelming firepower, layered defenses, and absolute refusal to yield ground. At five hundred meters in length, the frigate sits at the upper edge of its classification, sacrificing speed and elegance for raw combat density. Its hull is constructed from Mandalorian iron composites reinforced with duralloy, nyix-alloy, and carbon-durasteel plating, creating a vessel capable of surviving engagements that would annihilate lesser escorts outright. The ship's primary mission is dominance of the battlespace surrounding capital formations. In fleet actions, Vengeance-types are positioned along vulnerable flanks and carrier approaches, where their heavy turbolasers and missile batteries tear apart hostile corvettes and strike craft attempting to penetrate escort screens. When enemy cruisers close the distance, prow-mounted assault torpedo tubes and agrocite cannons deliver punishing opening salvos designed to cripple engines and shield generators. Despite its emphasis on gunnery, the frigate retains a limited carrier function as two full squadrons of starfighters or bombers can be housed within internal hangars, allowing the vessel to project a defensive fighter screen, conduct localized strike missions, or pursue fleeting targets beyond the reach of its own guns. This capability grants Mandalorian task forces a measure of flexibility even when operating far from dedicated fleet carriers. Internally, the ship is built for sustained war, as vast magazines feed its weapon systems, redundant power networks isolate damage, and damage-control teams remain on constant standby. Crew accommodations are utilitarian but efficient, prioritizing operational readiness over comfort. In practice, the Vengeance-type is rarely deployed alone. It functions best as the armored spine of escort formations - absorbing punishment, annihilating incoming threats, and holding the line while heavier capital ships maneuver to deliver decisive blows. Among Mandalorian naval officers, the frigate has earned a grim reputation. When the Vengeance arrives, the fleet no longer retreats.
